Market turmoil as UK votes for Brexit, PM Cameron to quit, Carney pledges backstop

Market turmoil as UK votes for Brexit, PM Cameron to quit, Carney pledges backstop
David Cameron has announced his resignation as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after the shock victory for the campaign to leave the European Union.

Cameron said in a statement Friday that he is likely to be gone by the time of the Conservative Party conference in October.

The leave camp secured 51.9 percent of the vote in the U.K. with 17.4 million votes, throwing markets around the world into turmoil and prompting sterling to hit its lowest level since 1985.
The Prime Minister's statement came as stock markets around Europe saw significant falls, with early signs that this could be an event that causes a shock as deep as 1987's Black Monday.

I smell recession in the wind...

Oh, somewhere in this favoured land the sun is shining bright,
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light;
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children
shout,
But there is no joy in Britain—David Cameron has resigned

Report alleges China killing thousands to harvest organs

Report alleges China killing thousands to harvest organs
Chinese hospitals are conducting far more organ-transplant operations than the country has officially acknowledged, according to a lengthy new report that raises troubling questions about the source of human body parts used to heal China’s elite and the foreigners who pay high prices to receive new kidneys and livers.

Although much of China’s transplant industry is shrouded in secrecy, officials have said 146 approved hospitals transplanted 7,785 organs last year.

But a team of researchers, including two prominent Canadian human-rights activists, has sifted through a huge number of hospital records, accounts from doctors, press clippings and public statements to tabulate numbers of Chinese transplant-centre beds and doctors – and from that has calculated how many transplants take place.

By their count, Chinese surgeons are transplanting between 60,000 and 100,000 organs a year, a number they say far surpasses the volume of kidneys, livers and hearts available from voluntary donors.

You know, I don't even know what to say about this. This is transplant industrialized that makes me wonder if they are marhcing people in and butchering them for their organs.
Very frightening.

Siemens is Building a Swarm of 3D Printing Spider Robots With a Hive Mind

Siemens is Building a Swarm of 3D Printing Spider Robots With a Hive Mind
IN BRIEF

Siemens is building an army of robot spiders called SiSpis that are equipped with artificial intelligence and 3D printing nozzles. This allows them to autonomously and collaboratively build wherever they are, a new system the inventors are referring to as "mobile manufacturing."

Siemens Spiders, or SiSpis, are 3D printers on the move. Oh, and did we mention they can collaborate with each other?

Livio Dalloro, head of the Product Design, Modeling and Simulation Research group in the Automation and Control Technology Field at Siemens Corporate Technology, is building an army of spider robots equipped with artificial intelligence so they can communicate and collaborate with each other in building things, a new system they are referring to as “mobile manufacturing.”

Each spider uses a camera and laser scanner that allows it to map and effectively navigate its environment, finding ways to move around obstacles in its path.

We continue to automate ourselves out of work. This technology is not there yet but given time, it will devastate manufacturing and construction.
All we would need is a computer that can design things on its own and no humans are necessary in the system.

Small bomb damages Target bathroom as company faces criticism for transgender policy

Small bomb damages Target bathroom as company faces criticism for transgender policy
EVANSTON – A small bomb exploded in the women's bathroom at a Target store in Evanston on Wednesday, and officials are investigating whether it’s connected to the company’s policy allowing transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice.

Commander Joe Dugan says no one was inside the bathroom when the small explosion happened a little after 4 o'clock. It caused minor damage and no one was injured. Early indications are that a plastic bottle was used but no projectiles like nails or tacks were inside it. Investigators are gathering evidence including examining store security camera video.

Target has been criticized recently for its stand on allowing people in the LGBT community to choose whichever bathroom they identify mostly with, either male or female, stating the company welcomes, "transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity.”

If this was about "transgender policy,"The right has completely lost its fucking collective mind.

It wasn't difficult. Something half the size of an anemic peanut can get lost.
THAT'S NO EXCUSE!

The Writers of Idiocracy Are Planning Anti-Trump Ads Starring Terry Crews

The Writers of Idiocracy Are Planning Anti-Trump Ads Starring Terry Crews When the truth is as strange as the fiction By David Gianatasio

Ted Cruz failed to take down Donald Trump in the Republican primaries, but maybe Terry Cruz Crews can get the job done.
With elements of the current election cycle often compared to the zany, low-I.Q. future America depicted in the 2006 satire Idiocracy, it's perhaps no surprise that Crews may soon reprise his character from that film—pumped-up, machine gun-toting, R&B belting President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho.
In Idiocracy, Camacho, a former professional wrestler and porn star, presides over a failing, fervently anti-intellectual U.S.A., where commercialism and the cult of personality reign supreme, and society teeters one flush away from the sewer.
Now, the film's writers, Etan Cohen and Mike Judge, are prepping a series of anti-Trump spots starring Crews as Camacho. The clips will break once Fox clears the rights for the character's appearance, according to an interview with Cohen in BuzzFeed.

I look forward to seeing those.
