NEWS: For more than a year my @SenateFinance staff has been investigating the NRAs relationship with foreign agent Maria Butina and Russian government official Alexander Torshin and their role in the Kremlins efforts to interfere in the 2016 election.
Heres what they found.
The NRA lied about the December 2015 Moscow trip not being an official trip.
NRA leaders were told the trip was needed to prove Torshins American connections to the Kremlin, and that building relationships with Russians was NRA business.
While in Moscow, the NRA delegation met with a host of senior level Kremlin officials, including some of Putins closest advisors (at least two of whom had been sanctioned by the U.S. government), and multiple Russian oligarchs close to Putin.
The now-convicted Russian agent Maria Butina made clear to the NRA she wanted to bring the head of the most powerful political organization in America to Russia.
The incoming NRA president only agreed to participate in the trip after he was offered the opportunity to explore lucrative business deals with Russian weapons manufacturers, on the condition that he bring the NRA to Russia.
He was even offered a meeting with Vladimir Putin.
After returning from Moscow, the NRA gave the Russians free rein over the guest list for its 2016 Annual Meeting. It also provided access to other political organizations in 2015 and 2016 like the National Prayer Breakfast and the secretive right-wing Council for National Policy.
NRA officers apparent use of the NRA for personal gain fits a larger pattern of reported self-dealing and raises serious questions about whether the NRA broke U.S. tax laws.

Significant #Ukrainegate update
1. There's a SECOND call (April 2019) in which:
Trump "urged Mr. Zelensky to coordinate with Mr. Giuliani and to pursue investigations of 'corruption' ... the details of which have not previously been reported."
Phone Call Showed Only a Slice of Trumps Obsession With Ukraine
Since the 2016 campaign, the president has had an intense fixation on the country, which he believes is tied up in the origins of the special counsels investigation.

2. This earlier call in April is significant in how it fits into larger scheme and Timeline with Giuliani
Giuliani was running the project of getting the Ukraine to manufacture fake dirt on Biden.
Watch what happens next after that April call...
3.
April 21: Trump urges Ukraine Pres to coordinate with Giuliani
May 9: NYT scoop reveals Giuliani headed to Ukraine in effort to meet Ukraine Pres to discuss Biden dirt
In NYT, Giuliani suggests his pitch to Ukraine is help Trump personally, be in good with USG
But then...
4.
May 9-11: Zelensky REJECTS meeting Giuliani to discuss Biden dirt
So, Giuliani applies pressure...
May 11: Giuliani goes on national TV to say trip cancelled, because Zelensky is "surrounded by people who are enemies of the president."
5. So, in the July 25 phone call, when Zelensky introduces the idea of meeting Giuliani. ... that should be understood in the context of the full timeline, and Giuliani's earlier tactics.
