Abramson....BREAKING NEWS: The Whistleblower Complaint Is Here:

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1177202609373028352.html

BREAKING NEWS: The Whistleblower Complaint Is Here: intelligence.house.gov/uploadedfiles/…
EXCERPT1/

EXCERPT2/ The Ukrainians (in this excerpt of their call readout) acknowledge the quid pro quo preventing them from getting Javelin missiles involves the corruption investigations Trump wants them to advance (matching this readout with the summary of the call previously released):

EXCERPT3/ Tons of witnesses to be spoken to:

EXCERPT4/ The call is followed by a massive internal cover-up:

EXCERPT5/ The White House cover-up violates all sorts of established protocols:

EXCERPT6/ Remember all the talk about whether there was any "follow-up" to the June 2016 Trump-Russia meeting at Trump Tower (which also involved illegal foreign donations)? *Tons* of *immediate* and *well-documented* follow-up here:

EXCERPT7/ Remember, "peace in Ukraine" has *consistently* been diplomatic code for "sanctions relief for Russia." One wonders if it wasn't just Biden that White House officials discussed with Ukraine in follow-up meetings—but the "grand bargain" or standalone sanctions relief.

EXCERPT8/ There's a ton more on this in the memo, but Trump was trying to keep a corrupt prosecutor (Lutsenko) in office despite the fact Zelensky didn't want him there, because Trump felt Lutsenko—again, a corrupt prosecutor—would do dirty deeds helpful to Trump to keep his job:

EXCERPT9/ I hope people will understand Trump's *whole political history* is about him using non-government actors to secretly negotiate U.S. policy. He had Manafort and Flynn secretly negotiating U.S. policy during the 2016 campaign, and Kushner, and many others. This is his MO.
EXCERPT10/ Volker and Sondland are positioned by the whistleblower as *friendly* (i.e., loyal to the United States, not Trump) witnesses who might be willing to tell the truth to investigators about what Giuliani and Trump did (i.e., bribery, extortion, and illegal solicitation):

EXCERPT11/ This whole story is a *mirror* of the Russia case, all the way down to Trump using improper persons to negotiate U.S. policy with a foreign power in "neutral" European capitals (here, the secret meeting is in Madrid between Giuliani and Ukrainian agents). So familiar.
EXCERPT12/ *Everyone* understood this was a quid pro quo. A shakedown.

*Everyone*.

*Everyone*.

PS/ And then, to top it all off, Rudy Giuliani issues *publicly* what he very well knows would have been taken by the Ukrainians he had recently met as a threat against Ukraine:

Eric Swalwell just made an amazing point: if the credible, urgent allegation by the whistleblower was that the White House was *systematically*, *secretly*, and *improperly* moving documents to a classified archive, that *absolutely* triggers the mandatory language in the statute
So the DNI had *no* basis for *any* confusion, after reading the whistleblower complaint, as to whether the complaint involved an "intelligence activity" falling under his jurisdiction; moreover, the complaint being an "allegation" was *legally irrelevant* for assessing its topic
And I'd go further and say that, on its face, the whistleblower complaint alleged the President of the United States was circumventing the U.S. intelligence community, using private parties, not only to negotiate U.S. foreign policy but to gather intelligence via foreign powers

CNN, September 19, 2017 Put a pin in this—because we're going to learn that Trump's Ukraine plot was jointly hatched between him and Manafort shortly after Trump was briefed by the intelligence community about the Steele dossier and became terrified his collusion would be caught

It's hilarious that some folks on the right don't realize this is still all about Russia That's okay, just stay tuned
POLITICO, May 25, 2017 Someone get Priebus before Congress to give details on his January 2017 call with Manafort and knowledge of Manafort's other calls with Trump, because we're going to learn Trump's efforts to quash Manafort's legal troubles in Ukraine began not long after

BREAKING on MSNBC: GOP Senator Says Abject Terror Is the Only Thing Keeping Republican Senators From Voting to Convict An Impeached Trump

NOTE/ Therefore: FACT #1: 30 GOP senators believe Trump has committed high crimes and misdemeanors that could endanger U.S. national security FACT #2: These 30 senators are violating their Oath of Office and threatening national security because they don't want to be primaried
NOTE2/ So I guess that until we know *which* 30 GOP senators are traitors to the United States, we just have to assume *all* of them are? For the sake of national security?

Reading the #WhistleblowerComplaint now. Which you can, too, if you want here: intelligence.house.gov/uploadedfiles/… Here are the highlights as I read through it.
Claims Rudy Giuliani is a "central figure" in this presidency attempting to obtain foreign assistance to win the 2020 election.

Whistleblower admits they're not an eyewitness to any of these events, but were informed of them by more than a half dozen other U.S. government officials.

The whistle-blower complaint is out: intelligence.house.gov/uploadedfiles/… I'll thread my thoughts here
This guy knows how to write a nut graph.

The whistle-blower anticipated the potential public release of this document and carefully wrote it to exclude any classified info (which was included in a separate appendix) so that it could be released.

The declassified, 9-page whistleblower report is out: "I have received information... that the President of the United States is using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election." intelligence.house.gov/uploadedfiles/…

"The President's personal lawyer, Mr. Rudolph Giuliani, is a central figure in this effort. Attorney General Barr appears to be involved as well," the whistleblower report says intelligence.house.gov/uploadedfiles/…
It wasn't just the content of Trump's call with Zelensky but what happened afterwards to cover it up: "White House officials told me that they were "directed" by WH lawyers to remove the electronic transcript from the computer system in which (they) are usually stored..." /1

Eichenwald...Republicans are so suffused in corruption they can't recognize it anymore...

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1176891307945578497.html

1. This is not a transcript. It is a summary. And even so, it is devastating. It is a sign that Trump, @LindseyGrahamSC and much of the GOP is so suffused in corruption they can't even recognize it anymore.

Lots of folks are commenting on the "do us a favor, though..." and....
mentions 2...other elements. However, I believe that this summary, even in its small amounts, has been extremely edited - by Trump himself. It also shows that Trump knows nothing about Ukraine.

One important element: Trump slamming the Germans...
mentions 3...in the call, he says to Zelensky (whose name is repeatedly misspelled in this summary - another Trump tell.) that Germany "does almost nothing for you....a lot of European countries are the same way."

Zelensky replies: "You are absolutely right. Not only 100%, but 1000%"...

mentions 4...add to that, on a per capita basis, Germans provides almost 4 times the support as the United States. Finally, what foreign leader would slam the leader of a nation providing that much money? All while using a colloquialism that is used by...Donald Trump....
mentions 5...the "does nothing" shows Trump's ignorance. The "I agree" shows either Zelensky is a fool, or this summary has been edited falsely. And Zelensky's use of an American colloquialism is quite suspicious.

Add to that: Zelensky's use of Trump's own language...
mentions 6...Zelensky says that he wants to "drain the swamp." He says he will surround himself "with the best and most experienced people." Maybe Zelensky is imitating Trump, throwing his words back at him to win his favor. But this is very very suspicious...
mentions 7...next, and most important: Trump sides himself with one of the worst, most corrupt people in Ukraine, a man who was driven out of office because of the demands of IMF, EU, US, foreign investors, and Ukranians who took to the streets to protest.....
mentions 8...Trump is either urging a return to the corruption of Ukraine, where prosecutions were political, or he is simply ignorant of major recent Ukranian history.

Trump states, and I will quote the whole statement because it is so important....
mentions 9..."I heard you had a prosecutor who was very good and he was shut down and that's really unfair. A lot of people are talking about that, the way they shut your very good prosecutor down and you had some very bad people
involved."

The man he is discussing is Victor Shokin....

mentions 10...this was a uniquely corrupt man. In the words at the time of Victoria Nuland, former Assistant Secretary of State for European & Eurasian Affairs at the State Department and a career Ambassador, the highest diplomatic rank in the United States Foreign Service:

mentions 11...Shokin was so corrupt that, it led his deputy Vitaly Kasko to resign in protest, long before Biden said anything. This was nationally broadcast, and came shortly after another major member of the govenemtn resigned over Shokin's corruption....

mentions 12...the Ukranian people, who also were taking to the streets to demand Shokin's removal, put together a petition to demand his removal. Unlike in the United States, such petitions have to be answered by the president....

mentions 13...NGO's and officials from the EU were demanding Shokin's removal because of his corruption....

mentions 14...Ukranian political parties were demanding Shokin's removal because of his corruption....

mentions 15...the deputy head of the Ukranian security service resigned because of Shokin's corruption....

mentions 16...outside analysts saw Shokin as a block on corruption investigations, and as such was angering the EU....

mentions 17...the US ambassador to Ukraine under GW Bush cited in sworn testimony before Congress about the demands across the world for Shokin to resign and how this improved things in Ukraine...

mentions 18...this could go on and on and on. And all of these statements (except for the last which was a review of history) came before Joe Biden said a word....

And now, a reminder of what Trump said about him...
mentions 19..."I heard you had a prosecutor who was very good and he was shut down and that's really unfair. A lot of people are talking about that, the way they shut your
very good prosecutor down and you had some very bad people involved."
mentions 20. Trump has told Zelensky that he supports the corrupt prosecutor and that he considers those people fighting against corruption in Ukraine to be "very bad people."

Is he an idiot? Is he encouraging Zelensky to return Ukraine to the era of political prosecutions? Or both?
