(CNN)The Department of Justice on Monday filed complaints against 11 individuals believed to be members of the Central American migrant caravan, accusing them of illegally entering the United States.
After a month-long journey by bus, train and on foot, about 100 migrants arrived at the San Ysidro port of entry on the US-Mexico border on Sunday evening, preparing to claim asylum. Twenty to 30 migrants spent Sunday night in front of the turnstiles leading to the US side of the San Ysidro port of entry in Tijuana, Mexico. An organizer of the caravan said they would remain at the immigration processing center until "every last one is admitted into the United States."
Eight migrants from the caravan were being processed by US officials, the group Pueblo Sin Fronteras and two observers said Monday night.
Two Salvadorans, six Hondurans, two Guatemalans and a Mexican national face charges, according to federal complaints. They are currently in custody.

Kim Jong Un agrees to meet Donald Trump at DMZ, source says

Updated 0724 GMT (1524 HKT) May 1, 2018
Seoul, South Korea (CNN)South Korean President Moon Jae-in has convinced North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to hold his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump at the demilitarized zone separating the two Koreas, a source tells CNN.
Moon and Kim met at the same location in Panmunjom last Friday, a historically significant event that was televised worldwide and led to an agreement to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and formally end the Korean War.
There is a "strong possibility" the summit will be held at the site, with some events possibly scheduled on the northern side of the military demarcation line separating the two countries, according to an official with deep knowledge of North Korea's thinking on the matter.
The venue makes the most sense logistically for Kim, the source said, because media facilities and equipment are already in place, which could allow the summit to take place "in late May."

Iran calls Netanyahu 'infamous liar' over nuclear allegations
Source: Agence France-Presse
1 MAY 2018
Iran on Tuesday branded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu an "infamous liar" over his allegations of a secret Iranian nuclear weapons programme.
Foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi called the accusations that Tehran lied about its nuclear ambitions "worn-out, useless and shameful". Netanyahu's comments came from a "broke and infamous liar who has had nothing to offer except lies and deceits," Ghasemi said in a statement.
"Netanyahu and the notorious, child-killing Zionist regime must have reached the basic understanding that the people of the world have enough awareness and cognisance," he added.
Netanyahu said in an elaborate televised presentation on Monday that he had new "proof" of an Iranian nuclear weapons plan that could be activated at any time.

President Donald Trump apparently stood by his campaign calls for a Muslim ban in a news conference with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, telling a reporter he has nothing to apologize for regarding his rhetoric.
The first question of his joint presser went to Washington Times reporter S.A. Miller, who pointed out that the opposition to the Trump administrations travel ban in court rests on his campaign rhetoric calling for the ban of Muslims from the U.S.
The lawyers for your opponents said if you would simply apologize for your rhetoric from the campaign, the whole case would go away, Miller noted.
I dont think it would, Trump replied. And theres no reason to apologize. Our immigration laws in this country are a total disaster, theyre laughed at all over the world, theyre laughed at, for their stupidity.

Trump Gives 'Full Support' To Congressional Term Limit Talks
Source: Talking Points Memo
By Kate Riga | April 30, 2018 3:41 pm
President Donald Trump resurrected a campaign talking point Monday afternoon, tweeting about a meeting he had with lawmakers in favor of congressional term limits.
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/991028027785138177
Trump first pitched the idea at a Colorado campaign rally in 2016, calling for a congressional amendment to put a six-year maximum on House members and a 12-year limit on senators.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has previously expressed his opposition to term limits, an idea that has been considered by Republicans for years but never garnered enough congressional support to be executed.

Nigerian President: 'Best Thing For Me Is To Keep Quiet' About Sh*thole Remarks
Source: Talking Points Memo
By Nicole Lafond | April 30, 2018 2:20 pm
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday said the best thing for me is to keep quiet about reports that President Donald Trump called African nations shitholes during an bipartisan Oval Office meeting on immigration with lawmakers back in January.
Well, Im very careful with what the press says about others than myself, Buhari said during a joint press conference with Trump on Monday, responding to a question about his response to Trumps reported derogatory remarks about African countries. Im not sure about, you know, the validity or whether than allegation against the President was true or not. So the best thing for me is to keep quiet. After a short pause, Trump said the two presidents had not discussed the alleged remarks, before claiming that some countries are in very bad shape.
We didnt discuss it, he said. And you do have some countries that are in very bad shape and very tough places to live in. But we didnt discuss it because the President knows me and he knows where Im coming from. And I appreciate that. We did not discuss it.
Reports of Trumps comments about Haiti and African nations sparked global furor, with many U.S. diplomats being summoned by their host nations to clarify Trumps comments.

Devin Nunes Is the Emblematic Republican Hack of the Trump Era
The chairman of the House watchdog panel designed to prevent intel abuses is clearly now out to protect just one U.S. citizen.
MICHAEL TOMASKY
04.30.18 9:11 AM ET
The sickest thing about the Trump era isnt Donald Trump himself, but the way the Republican Party has completely corrupted itself to be his servant. The media love to highlight Republican Never Trumpers, and there are many in the pundit class. But not in the politician class. Out of nearly 300 Republican legislators in Washington, exactly one has been courageous enough to call Trump the shyster he so obviously is: Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake. But hes wimping out by retiring.
On the other side, the competition for Best Supporting Actor for the Man Who Lies Every Time He Speaks is intense. Youd have to rate Mike Pence high, but nobody cares what the vice president says or doesany VP, but especially this one. Paul Ryan is way up there, if only for that single sycophantic adjective exquisite (applied to Trumps leadership) after they enacted the tax bill.
But I think its clear that the Oscar goes to Devin Nunes, because his corruption has consequences. The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee has a serious job. Its a panel that has existed for nearly half a century, and it came into being to safeguard the republic against abuses of power by intelligence agencies. If youve never heard of Otis Pike, the Democratic congressman from Long Island, go Google him. He was exactly what a legislator in a democracy was supposed to be.
The founding mission of the House and Senate intel committees was to protect American citizens against abuses of power by intelligence agencies. Thats a noble goal; the kind of thing the government exists to do.
Nunes has corrupted that mission completely. Hes changed it from citizens to citizen, because his intelligence committee is in the business of protecting one citizen: Trump.

Fake Green Party Candidate Exposed as Having Ties to Republican Congressman
The man who pushed a fake Green Party candidate once interned for Rep. Chris Collinsthe congressman the candidate was supposedly trying to unseat.

The former Green Party candidate in a congressional race has been exposed as a Republican plant with ties to the GOP congressman he supposedly sought to challenge
Michael Zak petitioned to run under the Green Party ticket in New Yorks 27th congressional district, a seat currently held by Rep. Chris Collins. Zaks candidacy petition listed as the official contact person Ross Kostecky, a local Republican operative who interned on Collinss 2009 campaign for Erie County, New York executive, The Daily Beast has found.
Of course I know Ross Kostecky. Ive known him for years. Hes a good Republican, said Chris Grant, Collinss campaign director. As to why he did this, youd have to ask him. Our campaign has absolutely nothing to do with [Michael Zak]. We dont know this person.
In 2016, Kostecky was an alternate delegate at the Republican National Convention, where he snapped a photo of Collins seconding the nomination of Donald Trump for president. Collins and Kostecky did not respond to requests for comment; Zak could not be reached for comment.

Trump's pick to lead ICE, who touted surge in immigration arrests, steps down
By Nick Miroff April 30 at 4:08 PM
Thomas Homan, the Trump administrations top immigration enforcement official, announced Monday that he plans to step down from his job, six months after Trump nominated him to be director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Homan was named ICEs acting director soon after Trump took office in 2017, and the tough-talking, barrel-chested former Border Patrol agent quickly became an unapologetic enthusiast for the administrations more aggressive enforcement approach.
Under Homan, immigration arrests surged 40 percent after agents scrapped an Obama administration policy of targeting serious or violent criminal offenders in order to cast a wider net. Homan said those living illegally in the United States should be afraid that his agents could be coming for them.
Pleased with Homans beat-cop demeanor, Trump picked him for the permanent ICE leadership role in November. But his nomination went nowhere and never came up for a vote on the Senate floor.
