An idea...

Would there be any value if the Dems. brought up a bill which would address only the laws dealing with illegal hacking or tampering of electronic voting machines

The premise could be that new laws need to be created because of all the new technology that is now available to anyone who is interested in electronic vote fixing...Penalties would be huge:25 years minimum in Fed Prisons.

I think it would be very strange and perhaps politically useful to watch republicans squirm as they create different reasons to to prevent such a bill from hitting the floors..

NRA.....Here’s another one.....

I understand ignorant racist anti-govt idiots not giving a shit about these type of events. However if you are a loving parent, how could you read another story like this and not fear that the exact thing could happen to your child at his friend’s house down the street?

Wouldn’t you want to become part of a movement which purpose is to restrict the easy access of guns
in this country?.. I mean a movement larger and faster than anything this nation has ever witnessed.

A 12-year-old boy in Ohio is dead after reportedly fatally shooting his 9-year-old half-brother and then himself.

Jackson County Coroner Gregory Hawker on Wednesday said that autopsies showed that 9-year-old Blake Campbell died almost immediately after being shot in the head with .44-caliber revolver. His half-brother, 12-year-old Austin Wiseman, then put the gun under his own chin and pulled the trigger, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

The children were at home alone when the shootings occurred on Tuesday. They were later discovered by their grandparents.

It was not immediately clear why Wiseman had shot Campbell. A full autopsy was expected to be completed in about six weeks.

“I know Austin was very loving and caring,” relative Shirley Causey told the Dispatch. “In my mind, I’m just thinking that maybe Blake found the gun and Austin tried to take it away from him and it went off. He didn’t do it on purpose; I don’t believe he would have done it on purpose. He loved his brother, I know he did.”

Wendy’s perfect response to Gov. Perry’s move..

From Daily Kos: Written by Leslie Salzillo Here was Wendy Davis' response to Gov. Perry..

“Misplaced priorities of legislative leaders squandered a tremendous opportunity to make much needed improvements in our transportation infrastructure and help create good jobs and bring businesses to Texas. Despite urging by responsible members of the Senate to bring up the matter of transportation, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst derailed as much as much as $1 billion per year in transportation funding by stubbornly pushing divisive, failed legislation attacking women’s health care options.

If leaders are serious about using this second called special session to improve the lives of Texans by repairing and expanding our transportation networks, they will find no greater ally than me. If they intend to keep pushing their extreme personal political agenda ahead of the interests of Texas families, I will not back off of my duty to fight on their behalf.”

This Decision...I just got in from work..

I think its absolutely wonderful; However, in simple terms has not Roberts essentially turned this into a
State Rights issue? And does that mean that if you are gay and from Oklahoma this ruling does little to enhance your life unless you move to a friendly state?

If I’m correct, then I still say fuck that group of 5 who are in the process of destroying our Country!

CNN Host Dismisses Texas Abortion Filibuster: ‘Why Not Spend The Time Trying To Compromise?’
By Igor Volsky on Jun 26, 2013 at 7:45 am

On Tuesday, Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) launched a successful 23-hour filibuster to block an omnibus abortion bill that would have criminalized abortion after 20 weeks and forced all but five of the state’s abortion clinics to close. The measure sparked a grassroots movement, as women’s health advocates camped out in the capitol building and filled up the chamber gallery to support Davis’ effort defeat the legislation.
But that didn’t sit so well with CNN’s morning host Chris Cuomo. After the network’s new morning show, New Day, covered the story, the anchor sought to dismiss the filibuster as a waste of time and criticized Davis for failing to compromise with Texas legislators:
KATE BOLDUAN (CO-HOST): This fight clearly not over yet…
CUOMO: All that energy to avoid the vote. Why not spend the time trying to compromise and figure out the bill in the first place?
BOLDUAN: Well, and they can just bring bring it back up in another special session.
CUOMO: Odd politics at work.
Watch it:

The bill, SB 5, actually combines separate provisions that failed to advance during Texas’ regular session. Democratic lawmakers stuck together to block every single anti-abortion bill proposed in Texas this year before it reached the House or Senate floor, but Gov. Rick Perry (R) convened a special session at the beginning of the month to push through the legislation and Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst (R) even amended some of the rules to allow lawmakers to more easily pass it.
But in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Republicans conceded that their vote to end Davis’ 13-hour filibuster on the legislation didn’t make the midnight deadline, when Texas’ special session officially concluded.

Oh shit...I thought we we’re done with the Ron Paul thing in 2011..

Now I’m starting to hear his name pop up again in tandem with his wonderful son Randy. You realize that is why he is called Rand. Short for Randy...Seriously!!

Anyway I just got my computer and the first sight I became part of was Raw Story for some unknown reason.. I was arguing with the Paulites every freaking day. They were relentless and in complete denial of his fathers Racists news letters( which he never wrote or had anything to do with), his anti-choice stance and his States Rights rhetoric.. Really, when you asked them a question regarding any of these issues they found a way of avoiding the questions and changed the subject..

I say lets Pin Randy to his fathers views on Race issues, Woman’s Choice issues and State Rights issues.
We need to make him come out and publicly disavow himself from any of his fathers social and political
talking points... Its a good start to illuminating what Libertarians will support..

Can we start naming names around here?

Someone ran a thread today mentioning Alan Grayson’s comments which attacked the Democrats in Congress who consistently do not stand up yo the middle class..

REsponders to the thread reacted by asking for names.
Well I propose that each of us name the names of those Democrats who represent the states they
reside in.

I will start with this...California is my state:

Today, “Democratic” Senate Leader Di Feinstein Voted Down Food Stamps

For many of us, this is a bit of a surprise. Especially given how much this Senator likes governmental programs that offer up lots of money.

After all, not only is this woman one of the top people in the Democratic Party, she is also married to Richard Blum, financial speculator extra ordinaire!

So please do not be bummed out by Di Fi’s vote today. After all, I can assure you that the very moment that her husband can figure out a way to direct some of the Food Stamp Program’s monies into the couple’s bank account(s), will be the exact moment that she will decide that the Food Stamp program is very very very valuable to impoverished Californians.

I don’t know how it is that Richard hasn’t figured out a way to profit from Food Stamps yet. If JP Morgan’s people can get 25 or 50 cents every time a Food Stamp Transaction is processed, surely Richard-Dear and Diane-Sweetums can do something similar.

Feinstein’s past history figures into all of this: after she achieved prominence inside the Democratic Party in the US Senate, she re-vamped the Senate Ethics code so that it is no longer a conflict of interest to vote for something if you achieve massive financial gain on that vote. Then she voted for the Iraq War resolution, and within several months of our getting into the Iraq war, Richard was worth some 27 millions of dollars due him on his new war contracts! A few years later, and the couple bought a gorgeous home in the SF Presidio neighborhood, with its cost being 16 million bucks.

The SF Chronicle explained that the view from that the couple’s new home had a view “to die for.” Not so funny thing is – over 4,487 American service people did die for them to have that view, and some 32,226 were wounded. You would think this fair lady of the Senate would allow these wounded vets to have Food Stamps, while she and Richard enjoy that view!
