Largest autism group urges parents to vaccinate their kids

After at least 107 confirmed cases of measles in the US, the most recent in daycare centers in both Illinois and California, autism groups are urging parents vaccinate their kids.

Even autism advocacy groups are joining the chorus on urging parents to get their kids vaccinated for measles and other diseases like whooping cough. The recent measles outbreak, which started in California but has already spread to other states, has reopened an old wound of an argument over the link between vaccines and autism.

"Over the last two decades, extensive research has asked whether there is any link between childhood vaccinations and autism,” Rob Ring, the chief science officer of Autism Speaks, said in astatement. “The results of this research are clear: Vaccines do not cause autism. We urge that all children be fully vaccinated.”

According to 3catwoman3 in a reply to another post,

"The phone at our pediatric office, which is within easy...

...driving distance of Palatine, has been ringing off the proverbial hook. Some of our families live in that town.

Just this afternoon, a mom of 3, who has followed her own modified immunization schedule and would not give MMR to her two older kids until they were 3, was in the office desperate to get her 17 month old daughter the MMR.

I assured her that I thought she was doing the right thing"

I can't understand how anyone wouldn't protect their child from diseases that are so easy to protect against and so devastating if contracted. Makes zero sense to me.

Glad to see so many autism groups are speaking out with science and sense.

5 babies with measles in Chicago suburb

A daycare center in Palatine Illinois has a minimum of 5 babies with the measles. They are now not allowing any child that hasn't been vaccinated in.

Babies this young are too young to to be vaccinated. These poor infants now are at serious risk of brain damage and other long term problems. That's if they don't die.

I hope this changes the minds of parents that haven't vaccinated their children as is recommended by the CDC and every doctor that has done research and cares about society as a whole.

If they don't, they should keep their children away from the public, especially from other children.

This may turn out to be much worse than originally thought.

Officials: 'More cases' expected in measles cluster at Palatine day care center

Source: Chicago Tribune

Public health officials are warning that more measles cases are likely after five infants who attend a suburban day care center were diagnosed with the highly infectious disease.

The outbreak at a KinderCare Learning Center in Palatine marks the second appearance of the measles in Illinois within the last month. Officials last week said a suburban Cook County adult had contracted the disease and visited a Palatine grocery store and health clinic while possibly contagious.

Though it’s not clear whether that case is connected with the day care cluster, officials said Thursday the public should expect additional diagnoses to emerge.

I hope parents that have decided against vaccination now change their minds

Bobbi Kristina Brown

I don't usually post about celebrity gossip. But this is just so tragic

Today is Bobby Brown's 46th birthday. He was told yesterday his daughter won't make it, there's nothing that can be done.

Bobby stated he won't make a decision until after the weekend. I wonder if he will try to keep her alive until the 11th

Just so sad
