Cop Beats and Pulls Gun on Unarmed Black Woman on a Crowded Bus

Article by Cassandra Fairbanks

WATCH: Cop Beats and Pulls Gun on Unarmed Black Woman on a Crowded Bus

In an alarming video posted to social media on Saturday, an unarmed black woman was brutally beaten by a Boston Police Officer who pulled his service weapon out as witnesses cried out for him to drop his weapon

Several people on the bus are seen filming the violent assault, as many of the witnesses speak up to defend the woman. At one point, a few of them are seen trying to walk up to try and diffuse the situation, but run and scatter after the officer turns to and points his weapon at them. Later in the video a man is heard yelling about an officer macing witnesses, so it is possible that is what occurred at this point.

This is why #BlackLivesMatter is the most important movement of our time.

I honestly believe that the spectators saved her life.

This has to end!

In one fell swoop, Jebro showed disregard for American women, America and the law.

Jebro (I prefer "Jebro" to other names out there) let us know, in the debate last night, that he has no regard for the law, doesn't believe there is one American female worthy of having her picture on U.S. currency and that U.S. currency should idolize a foreigner.

When asked what woman he would want on the $10.00 bill, Jeb Bush stated, "I would go with Ronald Reagan's partner, Margaret Thatcher. Probably illegal but what the heck."

Nothing like letting us know that, as President, he would be as honest and above board as big brother.

Probably illegal? What the heck, I'm a Bush! I'm above the law!

Eesh!

Bernie Sanders is the only white guy that showed up

In case anyone is confused about Greg Palast's Facebook/Twitter post

Twitter Greg Palast (@Greg_Palast) tweeted at 0:15 PM on Tue, Sep 15, 2015:
#BlackLivesMatter: I don't endorse candidates — but I also don't tolerate bullshit over facts... https://t.co/MfPM7itQQM
(https://twitter.com/Greg_Palast/status/643865830166523905?s=09)

Facebook, posted by Hell Hath No Fury, http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251595938

"When the Congressional Black Caucus asked me to present my discovery of the illegal purge of Black voters in Florida, only one white guy showed: Bernie Sanders. Hillary: MIA. I'm tired of hearing that Sanders doesn't reach out to Black folk. He's been on the front lines since Selma. I don't endorse candidates — but I also don't tolerate bullshit over facts." - Greg Palast

Please note what he's talking about. This report GOP Led Purge Threat To 3.5 Million Voters

http://www.gregpalast.com/gop-led-purge-threat-to-3-5-million-voters/

As you can guess, the greater majority of those voters are black.

It started with this

http://www.gregpalast.com/the-great-florida-ex-con-gamernhow-the-felon-voter-purge-was-itself-felonious/

He followed up that report with this

From White Sheets To Spreadsheets
http://www.gregpalast.com/from-white-sheets-to-spreadsheets/

They're about the new Jim Crow and how black voters are being legally purged from the voter's registrations in multiple states.

Which I posted about months ago.

That is what Greg Palast is talking about. That is the report he delivered to the Congressional Black Caucus. That is what every person in the House and Senate were invited to. That is where the only white guy that showed up was Senator Bernie Sanders

Stop the government from making even more kids go to bed hungry.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository is one of the best charities in the country. But they are only one of thousands that will be hurt if the Child Nutrition Reauthorization expires and nothing replaces it. Worse than that, hundreds of thousands of children will have no way to eat a decent breakfast, lunch or even as little as a snack.

Feeding America is another great charity. They're encouraging people to take action by "Taking the spoon." Raise awareness and take action in "Spoontember" Take a selfie with a spoon on your nose, tag your friends when you post it with a link to their take action page http://www.feedingamerica.org/take-action/campaigns/hunger-action-month.html?slider=1_engage

Please take action. Don't let the republicans cause one more child to go hungry.

Take part in Hunger Action Month by participating in National Call-in Day and advocating for the future of child nutrition programs. On September 30, the Child Nutrition Reauthorization, which guides and funds programs including summer and afterschool meals, school breakfast and WIC, is set to expire. We must tell Congress to protect and strengthen these programs for children in our community.

Here's how to participate:

Call the toll-free hotline at (888) 398-8702.

Listen to the pre-recorded message and enter your ZIP code when prompted.

Be sure to connect with your Representative and both of your Senators by calling back. Once you are connected to their office, say your name and the town you are calling from.

Most importantly, let them know you are calling about the Child Nutrition Reauthorization and deliver this important message:

For your senators, deliver this message:
"As your constituent and supporter of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, please co-sponsor the Hunger Free Summer for Kids Act (S. 1966) and the Summer Meals Act (S. 613)."

For your representative, deliver this message:
"As your constituent and supporter of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, I would like to see Congress pass a child nutrition bill that includes these three priorities:

Streamline regulations for summer and after school meals.

A summer EBT program to help families when school is out.

A non-congregate meal option so program operators like food banks can reach kids who can't access summer meal sites."

Thank you for your support. Your voice makes a difference as we work to protect vital children's programs.

Sincerely,

Kate Maehr
Executive Director & CEO

Salon re-posts an AlterNet article and changes the title.

The article, which I tweeted last night directly from the author's Twitter, published on AlterNet.

Title: Why Aren't More Black Voters Feeling the Bern?

http://www.alternet.org/election-2016/why-arent-more-black-voters-feeling-bern#

Now, reposted on Salon,
New title: Black voters aren’t feeling the Bern! Sanders’ problem is bigger than #BlackLivesMatter

http://www.salon.com/2015/09/13/black_voters_arent_feeling_the_bern_sanders_problem_is_bigger_than_blacklivesmatter_partner/

The author, Terrell Jermaine Starr, wrote an excellent article that explains some disconnect without being dismissive or divisive. Salon reposts it doing exactly what the author tried to avoid. WTF!?

Nothing like trying to cause problems when something is meant to close gaps.

Regardless, it's a great article and worth the read. Don't give Salon the click. Unlike the title from Salon implies, Sanders resonates with many black voters and the more that learn about him, the more that support him.

Mike Royko said it best: "No self-respecting fish would want to be wrapped in a Murdoch paper"

Mike Royko said it best: "No self-respecting fish would want to be wrapped in a Murdoch paper"

National Geographic was an established, venerated institution by the time the oldest person on earth today, was born. During that time the non-profit has educated the entire world about science, ecology, geography, astronomy, oceanography, climate, conservation, culture, history, war, refugees, zoology, biology, new discoveries, disease, endangered species and myriad other subjects. They have funded exploration, education and science. They have been unequivocally on the side of critical thought, making the world a better place and have opened millions of minds. This list of accomplishments could go on for pages. In all likelihood, that list is also about to become a thing of the past. With the acquisition of the National Geographic Society by Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox, the best anyone can hope for is a gradual degradation of the society, followed by a mild commercialization of the media they control.

No one, not even those who watch nothing but Fox News and let it shape their complete worldview, should welcome this change. Murdoch has been commercializing media, dumbing it down and trading information for propaganda, and sensationalism for information for decades. This purchase of National Geographic by Murdoch is a monumental loss for everyone – even Murdoch and those who will profit from the change in ownership. (They will own 73% of the society.) And even for those who don’t understand what has been lost.

Went to a great Bernie Sanders event Wednesday

The event was held by longtime activist, Joy Newhart, who has been doing this for 25 years. She's been active in political campaigns for even longer. She and another attendee, Cheri, talked about working on Bobby Kennedy's campaign.

This was an event to teach us how to get Bernie's name and beliefs out, to learn how to create our best "elevator" speech and to organize teams of volunteers in our own community. Joy calls it the "snowflake method."

Joy was part of the grassroots campaign for then Senator Obama. The campaign flew her to Chicago to learn, and then teach, their organizing methods.

The people that attended consisted of people in their 20s through their 70s. There was a fairly new US citizen, people who originally hailed from Alaska, New Jersey and Chicago. But most of the attendees were California natives. Who knew so many people are actually from here?

Experience ranged from never working on a campaign to old pros. Some were young pros A few people have already held their own events and a couple are working directly with the Bernie Sanders National Campaign Team. I'm not positive I heard one woman correctly, but I believe she said that she is the head of the Bay Area Campaign. I have to find out if I heard that right.

The belief that we must get Bernie elected or we're pretty well screwed, was held by everyone. As one young man stated, until we get money out of politics, we won't be able to accomplish anything else. Something I firmly believe.  That doesn't just mean campaigns.

We discussed the best way to connect with people, to get others involved, to answer questions and address doubts. We talked about what resonates in our hearts and minds. We went over how to put our events on Bernie's website and we vowed to help each other get events going.

We met David, who owns ORCA, Ocean Rich Communities of Alaska. He's already very involved in the campaign. He's held a few events and is obviously very politically active. Side note, he put me in mind of the Shaman, Ed, from Northern Exposure. Cuter and smarter but the same laid back, very Zen attitude.

We met Susan, a soft spoken woman who has registered as a Democrat because of Bernie. She has been voting Green and joked about not checking how badly their candidates lost.

There was Craig, who stood outside the building in his Bernie shirt, Bernie button, holding his Bernie sign, so we could easily find the place. He told us how he was able to shoot down every "but" statement made by his physician when discussing Senator Sanders.

As much as I would like, I can't tell you about all the really cool people and their stories. There were close to 40 people there.

The mood was great, the excitement high, the energy was electric. The absolute best part was we know Senator Sanders cares about people, his message is clear, concise and constant, that he has been unwavering in his fight for equality and what is right for decades. And we all know we have to do this together.

My thanks to Joy for holding the event, teaching us and introducing us to each other.

Some pictures of the event.

Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of everyone, like I thought I did.

The next event I'm scheduled to attend is a bbq. It's a little closer to home and I'll be hitting people up to help with my fundraiser in October

41% to 40%

Not a tie. Sanders takes the lead.

Biden isn't running.
