#PinkOutDay - meant to save Planned Parenthood from the wars on both common sense and on women
The Stand With Planned Parenthood event I attended yesterday for #PinkOutDay was a raging success! The organizer, Jan, did such a fabulous job! Besides the planning, signs, signup sheets, coordinating everything, she had a member of the media there. She was even able to lend me a Pink jacket. I believe it belonged to another volunteer named Mary. (I don't own anything pink.)
There was such a great turn out. I would guess there were 30 volunteers. Considering this isn't the big city and it was in the middle of a work day, I think that's amazing! The responses we received were overwhelming positive. One woman shouted from her car to one of the male volunteers, "our vaginas are more regulated than guns!" We had people honking, giving the thumbs up, showing their excitement and support with waves, smiles and the occasional shout out from the car. There were truckers who enthusiastically blew their horns, which always got other drivers to join in. This was near a high school, during lunch. Though few of the kids even made eye contact with us old folks, a few showed interest and support. My favorite part was when a couple of fireman drove their fire truck by. They blasted their horn while giving us the thumbs up! Go fireman! Unlike the motorcycle cops that refused to acknowledge us. Here are some pictures of the event

All in all, I felt like this was a great success. I know moveon.org and NARAL will be posting about how well this #PinkOutDay went across the country. But we have Jan to thank for putting this event together. For doing it so well and for making everyone there feel important. Jan and the other volunteers in Fremont, thank for allowing me to join you in this fight to save Planned Parenthood. The most important thing we can do is; to squelch the lies, and shout out the unending benefits that so very many people, all across the country, receive from Planned Parenthood. Oklahoma to execute innocent man tomorrow

Oklahoma will execute an innocent man at 3:00 p.m CST on Wednesday—unless the U.S. Supreme Court steps in now. That's why MoveOn members gathered outside the Supreme Court tonight to send this simple message: Save Richard Glossip. In their emergency petition to the U.S. Supreme Court today, Richard's lawyers wrote, "New evidence, not fully considered by any court, shows that Mr. Glossip is innocent of the murder for which he faces execution."1 Check out the photo of tonight's last-minute appeal for justice, and then share it right now on Facebook. Together, we can draw more attention to the gross injustice that's set to occur—and just maybe help convince the Supreme Court to stop the execution. There's very little time left, and we can't stop fighting for Richard's life.

Richard was sent to death row on the word of one man—who bragged about setting him up.2 Justin Sneed confessed to the gruesome murder at a motel, but he said Richard hired him to do it. In exchange for testifying against Richard, Sneed avoided the death penalty himself and now is serving a life sentence in a medium-security prison.3 But for 18 years, Richard hasn't had the resources to hire lawyers to prove his innocence. Only now is a team of pro bono lawyers working on his case—and what they've found is breathtaking, including witnesses who say that Sneed bragged about framing Richard and that Sneed acted alone. And the latest? The state has been intimidating those witnesses, even arresting one at gunpoint.4 Yet, the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals yesterday ruled 3-2 to deny Richard's final appeals, and Gov. Mary Fallin continues to refuse to act.5 Hundreds of thousands of people across the country have added their name to petitions. Thousands more have made phone calls to key decision makers. I'm feeling the BERN! Obviously, so is everyone.
What has gone down has done nothing but:
Make my resolve stronger to help elect the the only candidate that is truly for the disenfranchised, the marginalized, the minorities, the unions and the 99% -Senator Bernie Sanders Show me that friendship means nothing to some people, that the total disrespect shown and outright lies told about people, is indicative of what certain campaigns are truly about.
