First lady Michelle Obama offers a sniff of fennel to a student from Sarah Moore Greene Magnet Technology Academy in Knox County, Tennessee, while harvesting and cooking vegetables from the White House Kitchen Garden. The first lady was joined by students from Somerville, Massachusettes, Knox County, Tennessee, Milton, Vermont, Washington, DC and Union Beach and Ship Bottom, New Jersey.
The kids who harvested got to see Marine 1 land. They were super excited and POTUS shook each one of their hands! pic.twitter.com/9IBRaH7jJP

“the health care law is about people like me. it’s alyciacare”
Alycia is the mother of Avey, who is a beautiful, sweet, 3-year-old girl who also happens to have Leukemia. Imagine what thats like for a parent. While youre just figuring out how to take care of a baby, youve got to figure out how youre going to pay for expensive treatment that could save your babys life.
Any parent knows that there is nothing we wont do to take care of our kids. And its nice to have somebody getting your back. And thats why the Affordable Care Act made it illegal for bad actors in the insurance industry to discriminate against kids like Avey. And today, Avey is doing just great. She was here just a second ago, where is she? Theres Avey hey, sweetie! So Alycia wrote in she said, The health care law is about people like me. Its AlyciaCare.

Here are some excerpts from the White House link:
Women & Families
Ending Insurance Company Abuses: Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, insurers can no longer put a lifetime cap on how much care they will pay for if you get sick or cancel your coverage when you make a mistake on your paperwork. Starting in 2014, health insurers will be prohibited from charging you more because you are a woman.
Young Adults
Coverage for Pre-existing Conditions: If you have been uninsured for six months and cant buy private insurance because of a pre-existing condition, you can join the Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan. And under the new law, no plan can deny coverage to people under age 19 because of a pre-existing condition. Starting in 2014, health insurers will be prohibited from discriminating against anyone due to pre-existing conditions.
Seniors
Cheaper Prescription Drugs: If youre in the donut hole, you will receive a 50 percent discount when buying brand-name prescription drugs covered by Medicare Part D. The discount is applied automatically when you fill your prescriptionyou dont have to do anything to get it. These changes are already saving seniors billions of dollars. And by 2020, the donut hole will be closed.

Tammy Duckworth, Freshman Representative out of Illinois pledged back in February to return a portion of her salary if the sequester happened. As far as I can tell, she was the first to step up in this way (followed by Hagel & Prez).
House members earn $174k anually - Ms Duckworth will return 8.4% - roughly $14,500

FYI.. THIS IS POSTED IN THE BARACK OBAMA FORUM

President Obama is Headed to Austin - Here's Why
In his State of the Union address, President Obama laid out his belief that a thriving middle class is the engine of economic growth one that we can reignite by investing in jobs, skills, and opportunity.
Tomorrow, the President is making his first stop on a series of Middle Class Jobs and Opportunity Tours, traveling to Austin, Texas to learn more about what's being done there to create stable and well-paying jobs that can support a middle-class family. He'll visit a high school where students are learning real-world skills for today's jobs and meet technology entrepreneurs who are creating the tools and products that will drive America's long-term economic growth.
We checked in with Todd Park, the United States Chief Technology Officer, to find out more about the President's trip. Hear what he had to say below.

Business Insider: Stirred by the U.S. Senates failure to pass an expansion on background checks last month, a group of three web designers with the Brooklyn firm Guts & Glory expressed their frustration by creating a website that has turned into a viral campaign over the past two weeks.
The website, TheyDontWorkForYou.org, pairs all 46 senators who voted against the amendment with victims of gun violence. It encourages readers to call the senators, tweet at them, or post messages on their Facebook pages.
After launching on April 22, the campaign has spread through different advocacy organizations, such as Moms Demand Action. It has also earned the firm congratulations from organizations like the Michael Bloomberg-backed Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
