Good parents. As a senior myself I understand the beginnings of

limitations on their independence.
Keep talking with Mom; that will bolster her courage.
Thank goodness they have each other; one really does give strength to the other.
Best wishes for you and parents.

There will be someone to get your parents to the polls.

If sister can't or won't, call the local party headquarters - they'll find someone.

I have a lot of sympathy for priests today, for the burden

they carry of ministering to a well-educated and out-spoken public, who also has great expectations of what a priest should be and do.

We all know that, being human, priests are less than perfect. They have their personalities, traits, imperfect knowledge, and yet they are expected to be all things to all types of people - an impossible mission. It must also be a lonely life in many ways, compared to those of us with spouses and children.

So I recommend we support them despite their failings and let them know we appreciate their work and efforts.
Especially the older, retired priests, who mostly don't really retire, but keep ministering until they physically can do no more.

I love to observe the large barges pushing up the Ohio River

here in Cincinnati.

Southern Ohio really is beautiful, and I've taken that drive east through Jackson to Gallipolis (stopped at the original Bob Evans Farm restaurant and met Bob himself once there - in Rio Grande (pronounced Ry-oh Grand.)

Am now looking at a trip east going through Marietta, which I believe was Ohio's first capital and modeled on a New England town.
So much to see, so little time.

Feedback may be a good thing.

I believe pastors and other clergy do not get enough personal feedback - of the reasoned and reasonable variety.

Cincinnati Dems were united with Republicans

in trying to get this convention, but they were hamstrung from the start by the arena venue not having enough private boxes, elevators, etc. The Arena is privately owned.

Cleveland still in the running for Republican National Convention.

The list was narrowed to four cities today: Kansas City, Dallas, Denver, and Cleveland.
Cincinnati was withdrawn by its sponsors due to facilities not adequate for that convention; Las Vegas was also eliminated.

Both Columbus and Cleveland are both among a number of cities in the running for the Democratic National Convention.
Cincinnati did not apply for the Democratic convention.

It was just a matter of time until these "patriots" did the unthinkable

and embarrassed and disgraced themselves and their party.
They are not very savvy politically.

Well, he's 59, and all kinds of tough things can happen

around that age. Relationship problems? Getting passed up at work by younger people? Money problems? Health and youth fading? Loss of respect from contemporaries and others?
And it's not as easy to come back from problems at that age.

I hope he takes that long leave of absence he's been needing and then see what the world holds for him.

And, no, I'm not a fan of any of them.
