Your situation is so very understandable.

Faith and spirituality - I've concluded that there is much we can not and will not understand in our lifetimes. Much is beyond human understanding. I've decided not to try too hard to figure it all out, but to accept that we have chosen this way of life and that I still receive much joy and consolation from being involved in my faith structure and will continue to practice when able.

I've recently decided that I must try for 8 hrs sleep per night, and not try to get by on 7. Difficult because I'm a night owl, and phone sometimes rings early (for me) in the morning. Sleep has been a problem for years, though I don't dwell on problems (usually). I imagine putting problems up on a shelf for the night, saying I will take them down and address them again tomorrow, if I must.

As a widow and senior adult, I need to have a mission in my remaining years. In my case, my adult daughter handicapped by a stroke and living in a long-term facility is very dependent emotionally on me, so much so that I fear for the time when I won't be available for her. I believe we all need a personal mission in different periods of our lives, and hope that you have identified yours. It does give you the will to go on each day, to push out of bed or chair and accomplish at least a little each day.

We'll talk more another day. Peace to you today and tonight.

That first love is something you never forget.

The sweetness of it, even when it goes nowhere.

As always, depends on voter turnout.

When turnout is large, Dems win.
Encourage early voting, or vote by mail/absentee, so that bad weather, last minute problems don't keep you or other Dems from voting.

Statewide elections are very different from a gerrymandered House and state Reps.

The Big cities are largely Democratic.
The turn-out, as always, will make the difference.
Harder in an off-Presidential year, but doable.

Tim will make a great Senator, but for now, he needs to be more nuanced.

He's good-looking and affable by nature, with enough fight in him to stand up for his constituents.

He should never mention DJT's name when he wants to emphasize that he'll work with all good efforts to bring jobs to his state.
I'm glad he showed up when President Biden was in central Ohio touting a new chips plant.
Don't decry the loan payoffs, but emphasize how loans have helped middle class - nurses, LEOS, teachers - all badly needed professionals who have recently been in short supply.

The post and prayer honor Fr. Judge and NYFD on the occasion of 9/11

No Commentary necessary on the theology of a personal prayer.

One third Irish here, from paternal side, so I did hear about Irish troubles

and British mistreatment, plus I have a lifelong interest in history.
I was never particularly interested in the British royalty, just as part of everyday "celebrity" news.

My hope is that with Elizabeth 11 gone, a number of the Commonwealth countries will declare complete independence. Scotland, and others.
Northern Ireland should be united with the Irish Republic, as God intended it to be.
It's okay if it takes a few years for these to come to pass.

More like 7, rather than 5.

By that time they will have 2-3 years of school behind them, giving them more experience in how to react to situations that might arise.

It's not just strangers and neighbors, it's any emergency that could occur in the park or along the way. By 7 they'll have a much broader view of how to act and react in the wider world outside the home and immediate view of parents and neighbors who know them.

Sure I at 7 or 8 walked 7-8 miles from my home to my dad's downtown office, along a busy throughway. Spotted by a neighbor who notified my parents, so Dad was expecting me when I arrived. Parents were not happy about that adventure. But that was then. wouldn't recommend it now, nor want my child doing such.

Lord, Take me where you want me to go.

Let me meet who you want me to meet.
Tell me what you want me to say.
And keep me out of Your way.

Feeling fairly good because I went to an old friend's house last evening for dinner.

It was in another state, nearby but still exciting since I haven't gone that far since Covid began nationally.
My daughter drove me, and I brought my friend a great fruit and nut mix as well as a chrysanthemum plant, and some hand-made soap for the other ladies present. There were also two pleasant men, spouses of the ladies.

I had gotten my hair cut and colored after a long hiatus, so felt presentable enough.

So nice to have conversation and catch up with a long-time friend.
Time gets by each day and it's easy to lose touch.

What's happening with you, trof?
