Win or Lose, Trump has changed how presidential races are run for the rest of my lifetime.

Thank you lame stream media. No longer does a candidate have to have any clearly articulated policies he/she proposes to enact. No longer does a candidate have to have any experience for the most important job in the country. Six months ago we were worried that Citizens United was the worse thing to happen to our election process. Now we have a billionaire Bag of Gas who the media will give unlimited free time to regurgitate whatever nonsense he sees fit, without any political consequences.

Whatever happens in 2016, the blueprint has already been written for 2020. Though the media will feign surprise when every election cycle from here on out will spawn a new generation of Trumps-lite and Carsons-lite, the media will have no one to blame but themselves. Trump can, and does go on any station in the largest, most expensive media markets, for hours at a time and say anything no matter how ridiculous, because ratings matter more than substance when picking the leader of the free world and don't think that the Cruz-lites', Rubio-lites' and regrettably, some Democrats-lite are not watching and learning from it. Elections in America are forever changed.

For those of you who watched 60 Minutes last night, I hope you are as outraged as I am

about the guy who spent 30 years on Death Row in the sorry state of Louisiana. The guy who prosecuted him, and the current prosecutor are indicative of a corrupt system of justice in Louisiana. Bobby Jindal should be ashamed of that corrupt system that he governs over. Not only was the guy who was the subject of the story "not guilty" of the crime he was convicted of but according to the current POS prosecutor, there have been 10 more Death Row inmates who have been exonerated. Eleven people on Louisiana's Death Row, exonerated in the recent past is an indictment of a corrupt system that doesn't give a damn about someone's guilt or innocence, but only cares about winning. If you appoint two dirtbag attorneys whose sole legal experience is handling business transactions and wills, in a capital murder case in which the defendant is facing the death penalty, you are a scumbag.

Palin wants to be Secretary of Energy but doesn't know what the agency does.

http://www.vox.com/2015/9/7/9272275/palin-trump-energy-secretary

Sarah Palin is already picking out a job for herself in the forthcoming Donald Trump administration. She'd like to run the Department of Energy for a brief period, before abolishing it.

Sounds promising. Except for one tiny little hitch — it's not clear she even knows what the department does. Here's what she told CNN:

"I think a lot about the Department of Energy, because energy is my baby: oil and gas and minerals, those things that God has dumped on this part of the Earth for mankind’s use instead of us relying on unfriendly foreign nations."

"I'd get rid of it. And I'd let the states start having more control over the lands that are within their boundaries and the people who are affected by the developments within their states. If I were in charge of that, it would be a short-term job, but it would be really great to have someone who knows energy and is pro-responsible development to be in charge."

Palin is alluding to the fact that the federal government owns billions of acres of land and coastal waters, containing quite a bit of oil, gas, and coal. Industry groups have long complained that President Obama hasn't opened up nearly as much of this land to drilling as they'd like. And a few groups out West have even demanded that much of this land be returned to the states.

Except this all has very little to do with the Department of Energy, which mainly oversees the nation's nuclear weapons program — a task consuming nearly half its budget — and conducts energy R&D.

What Palin wants is the Department of Interior, which manages most federal lands. They're the ones handling leases for coal mining or supervising offshore oil and gas drilling. If you wanted to transfer public lands back to the states, you'd focus on Interior, not Energy.

Anyway, even if Palin did become cabinet secretary, she couldn't just abolish a department on her own. That would likely require an act of Congress. But it sounds like Interior should be the agency she "thinks a lot" about.

To test Bernie's theory of "How to deal with an obstructionist Congress", let's see how many

show up on the steps of Capital Hill the week after next to support the Obama Nuclear Agreement and stand up against Ted Cruz, Donald Trump and their supporters. It should even be a warm day. These are the people who want to see another war in the Middle East. I don't see the Dems calling for their people to show up in force and face down Trump who like so many other members of the GOP chose to evade the Vietnam War through bogus deferments, and then want to call John Kerry, who did, names.

I don't believe Trump went to the Wharton School of Business. I want to see his transcripts.

The man cannot complete a sentence. He cannot finish a complete thought. He changes direction in the middle of his own argument without having been interrupted. According to Trump, you have to be really, really smart to get into the Wharton School of Business. I don't think Trump is very, very smart. I want to see his transcripts. I want to see what kind of grades he got.

What are YOU angry about?

If I hear one more political reporter say that the Trump supporters are “angry” I’m going to puke. Now Chris Matthews, of Hardball has started saying it, as does Chuck Todd, and every Liberal and Republican Contributor on Morning Joe. On his program the other day, Chris Mathews says that "I get it. These people are angry. They’re not just a bunch of crazies."

My question to Chris is “What the hell are they angry about?” Big businesses and billionnaires are the ones that sent their jobs overseas. Big business is the ones who brought in cheap Mexican labor when blacks moved to the cities to take low paying jobs as janitors and dishwashers rather than continue the back breaking work of hours spent laboring in the fields of California farms. Then when those uppity blacks had the nerve to demand better wages in the city factories, hotel kitchens, and sweatshops, they brought in Mexican workers to displace blacks in those janitorial positions and kitchen help.

No one was angry then. When Big Business made Steel workers disassemble the plant and equipment needed to make steel and box it up and ship it overseas, and even train their replacement workers, I don’t remember white people in masses getting angry. Or when Big business brought in Indian workers to this country on B1 and B2 Visitor Visas to displace Computer Programmers , and Nurses, and Mitt Romney and his ilk bought up businesses and shipped jobs overseas to Chinese workers and replaced American textile and factory workers, clothing manufacturers and furniture makers, I think the ‘angry folks’ were MIA. As they were when the big Homebuilders began bringing in Mexican workers to pour concrete, lay tile, and hang drywall. These were powerful Big Businessmen, like Trump, who all you "Angry" people NOW, bow down to and aspire to be like. Now it's all Bill Clinton's fault that he signed NAFTA, something that I'm sure every Big Businessman in American supported. So now, once again, the liberal media has decided that white people are angry and they have a right to be because they want their country to be Great again, and it's all the Mexican's fault. My question is, ”What are YOU angry about?”

I’ll go first.

I’m angry that the minority leadership of both Houses of Congress, on the eve of the Inauguration of the first black president of the United States in 2009, met in a hotel restaurant in the nation’s capital to plot and collude the demise and further deterioration of our nation's economy, lead by the collapse of our financial institutions, as a political strategy for returning to majority leadership, by doing anything and any means necessary to insure the failure of this President and his Administration, and with the full support and cooperation of those people who NOW claim to be ANGRY, once those deeds were publicly exposed, and they were never made to pay a price for their treasonous actions.

Is it just me, or is Donald Trump the Sarah Palin of 2016?

I was listening to Trumps interview with the lady from NBC the other day and I thought to myself, how much the Donald reminds me of the ever perpetual might be running Sarah Palin. Even down to the word salad speeches. Trump just throws out things and rarely completes a though before just changing the topic mid sentence (or paragraph that is) since he rarely finishes a thought. Also, I was surprised when the interviewer called him out for not having been campaigning in Iowa or New Hampshire with the other candidates and he said that he didn't need to because he got all the media attention without being there.

I was also amazed at how fact-less Trump is and how he turns on the interviewer or dodges the issue when he gets called out on it. While Trump may know the hotel business, he appears to know nothing except that Hillary is the worse Sec of State in the nation's history, or fails to discuss what his solution would be for the mess in the middle east, other than to say that he's not going to tell us what he would do to fix the mess, except that he is going to build a fence at the border and make Mexico pay for it. When he is told that that there are more people returning to Mexico the past several years than coming from Mexico, or that the crime rates in border towns, is less than in other areas, or that immigrants commit crimes at a lesser rate than non-immigrants, he just shshhs the poor woman and tells her she is delusional if she believes that.

Like Sarah, I can't believe that, should the Donald get the republican nomination, he would "study" up on any foreign policy or other facts that a would be candidate should know because he thinks he can wing it, as Palin thought she could. He could never be president because frankly, he'd be bored with the role after 5 minutes because it's actually work and in spite of what he thinks, there are two other branches of government he would have to work with, and can't fire at will. Trump is the proverbial born on 3rd base, and acts as if he hit a home run. He inherited a bunch of prime NY real estate which he proceeded to mortgage to the hilt. He is not a "pulled myself up by the bootstrap" type of person. He might be able to run a bunch of hotels, (and I'm even hesitant to give him that much credit since he always seems to have one foot in the door and one in the bankrupcy court) but he knows nothing about diplomacy, and I certainly would not trust him anywhere near the guy with the nuclear codes.

Making my case for why I don't think that Medicare should pay for long term nursing care.

Sorry, but I didn't want to hijack someone else's thread so I decided to start my own. If Medicare had to pay for long term nursing care for the elderly, the fund would be bankrupt within in a very short time. Long term nursing care is very expensive.

This is not what medicare was designed for. Also, I find it hard to believe that the government is not paying for any Alzheimer's research, for a disease that threatens most retirees and their families should they live long enough. I read an article the other day which stated that 1 of 5 people who reached age 90 had no cognitive disabilities, which says to me that 4 out of 5 do have some form of cognitive disabilities. This is the subject that Americans and our politicians needs to be talking about. Thanks to Sarah Palin back in 2008, she made it almost impossible to talk about, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be talking about it and what i'm talking about is Sarah Palin's death panels. Nursing homes when you aren't dealing with a demented patient are incredibly expensive. When you add dementia to the mix, it's that much more expensive.

I am dealing with two parents one 85 and one 84, who both have recently come down in the past year with early stages of dementia. My dad's came on with gangbusters and his cognitive skill are diminishing quickly. You wouldn't believe that he was still driving as recently as last September and living alone as recent as 4 months ago. The problem is that his body is still relatively healthy, thanks to a host of pills he takes to control a host of ailments common with old age, but he's becoming less and less cooperative each day, and more and more defiant with those trying to assist him. My mother is in the early throws of dementia and still relatively healthy, and could live another decade. But because she lived alone, some of my siblings sought a temporary conservativeship over her because they thought she was making poor choices which could threaten her finances, (i.e. buying things she didn't need from door to door salesmen.) The problem is that the one with dementia is usually the last to know it. Our parents lived in separate households which only makes the problem worse. Their children up until recently have had to split their non working time going between their two residences. Few people could afford 24 hour in home care of some sort or for an assisted living facility with a dementia ward. I could buy a condo on a beach and the payments would be less than it would cost for a month in a shared room in an assisted living facility with a dementia ward. I don't think Medicare should have to pay these types of bills. The system was not set up for this type of thing and the system would be bankrupt in no time.

People who would have normally died of natural causes a decade earlier due to heart attacks or stroke or other diseases can now live decades longer thanks to medication and other medical devices that keep our hearts pumping but no one has yet to find a cure to keep brain cells from dying resulting in a continual degradation of our cognitive skills. When I reach that point and perhaps before I reach that point, I want to be able to die with dignity. My siblings and I have investigated various types of faciiities over the past 9 months checking out what options are out there for the cognitive impaired and what it costs, and what the quality of life appears to be at these types of facilities and I've personally have arrived at a few conclusions for me. I don't want to go to Adult Day Care or be put in a nursing care facility because my working adult children who have not reached retirement age, can't supervise me 24/7. I also would rather pass on to my children any resources I have remaining when I can no longer function on my own, or tend to my own needs, rather than spend my final days or what could be years being medicated in some smelly nursing facility with a bunch of other demented patients. Our body parts were not designed to last forever, but modern devices can keep our heart ticking long past what Mother Nature intended.

Hater’s gonna hate. I thought Hillary did great this morning.

I'm thankful for the photos shared here and for the many who made the trip to support her. Thank you all. I then spent more time than I should have, sifting through the anti-Hillary posts, since you can't miss them. They're everywhere.

Hillary could have been anything she wanted to be. No one can deny that the woman is incredibly smart, insightful, and yes ambitious. But so what. If she had a pair of balls, she would have been president a long time ago. But there has always been this double standard for women; so the best she could do before now, is to be the woman behind the man. We know the media is going to spend the dog days of summer talking about the Clinton’s wealth and conducting bullshit polls about whether American’s think Hillary is honest or not, but if the media was truly honest they would take a poll about what the country thinks about the honesty of every candidate running for president, or any office for that matter and I’m sure the results would show that Hillary is in good company. And if all the Clinton’s were interested in was wealth, they could have had that decades ago and spared themselves and this nation a ton of grief.

For those of you who don’t like her, and have no plans to vote for her, that’s your business. But be honest about it. It takes a hell of a lot of guts to put yourself out there as a candidate. Much more than it takes to sling mud via a keyboard. If Elizabeth Warren wanted to run for president she could have, but she didn’t. If Bernie has a loyal fan base out there who CAN get him to the White House, so be it. Time will tell. But stop opining about what could have been, and what ifs. Running for president is not easy. Hillary’s been down this road before, and she knows that it’s not going to be easy, especially with what she’s already had to put up with in the past three decades with all the bullshit investigations woven out of whole cloth. I’m always amazed at how the Democratic party members like to eat their own, particularly when there is a whole host of GOP members who are waiting, ready and willing to do their bidding for them. No I don’t have thousands of posts here on this website like some here, but than I’ve got a job and a family and didn’t have time to rack up thousands of posts over the past, but I’ve always kept myself politically informed and voted, and my husband has worked on both national and local democratic campaigns in the past few years since he was been retired.

The GOP has a host of billionaires ready to finance their puppet candidates who will do their bidding to continue stacking the deck of the Supreme Court, suppress voter’s rights, try and repeal the ACA, continue fighting the last war with other people children’s boots on the ground, ship your jobs overseas, overturn environmental protections, further reduce taxation on the top earners, etc, etc, etc. The Democratic Party needs a candidate who can win. If that candidate is Bernie Sanders, time will tell. In the meantime, ask yourself what YOU have done lately to further the Democratic cause. If the only thing has been to sit at your keyboard and bash those who’ve thrown their hat in the ring, than heaven help us all. I plan to retire at the end of the year, just in time to work on Hillary’s campaign. If Hillary’s no longer a candidate, I’ll campaign for whomever the Democratic candidate is, because never before have the principles of the two major parties been so stark in contrast.

Will the Dems in 2015 allow "the perfect to become the enemy of the good"?

I've checked in a couple of times today to take the pulse of this board in reaction to Hillary announcing her candidacy and I was hoping that the Dems in 2015 won't permit themselves to become entrenched to the point that we, (to borrow a much maligned phrase from President Obama), " allow the perfect to become the enemy of the necessity".

And yes I meant to say 2015, and not 2016 because if we play out cards right and screw things up enough, this thing could be over with before 2016 gets here.

The GOP which holds one BS convention, forum, pep rally, symposium etc, a month, will take their F'd Up candidates warts and all, but for some strange reason, our party is always in search of that elusive candidate who represents the perfect Dem whose just there waiting on the sidelines to throw their hat in the ring, and take on the F'd up job of being a candidate for the President of the United States in his modern era of 24/7, 2 year campaigning/fundraising, Koch Bros financed sandbagging, gotcha politics, in the era where a lie can make it around the world before the truth can get its pants on. There is NO perfect candidate for the Democratic nomination, whomever that might be if he or she exists at all. We have to accept the fact that a good percentage of our party is too busy Keeping Up With the Kardashians to bother with knowing who the current Vice President of our country is.

There is too much at state with the way the likes of groups like ALEC and the Koch Bros have managed to turn their minorities numbers into majorities legislature office holders in so many Red States by rewriting the rules in less than a decade. And if they are permitted to take the one remaining obstacle in their way, The Presidency, there may be no way of EVER undoing the havoc they might be able to reap on this nation and the world, in my lifetime with them in charge of the SCOTUS. Get over it people. The God, Guns, and Gold Party are in it to win it in 2016. We need to get behind the one candidate who wants the job, and is capable of beating whatever candidate that other party puts out and get excited about it, and quit your bitchin.
