Samuel L. Jackson Commends Massive Protests on CNN: 'Starting the Labor Pains of This Change That Is
By Reed RichardsonJun 8th, 2020, 10:20 pm
Actor and civil right activist Samuel L. Jackson commended the massive, nationwide Black Lives Matter protests during a discussion on CNNs Anderson Cooper 360, calling it the labor pains of systemic change.
During Coopers Monday night show, the 71-year-old Jackson, who participated in civil rights protests while a student at Morehouse College in the late 1960s, urged the protestors out in the streets to have patience and seek political allies
Im energized watching them do it. I wish I wasnt in this high risk area of Covid or I would be out there with them joining in. If I had the energy to be out there, Jackson said. But I love the way it looks. It is a very different view from the one I had in the 60s and 70s. The faces are all ethnicity and the youth and energy feels the same. And in my mind it feels like change is about to happen. It is one of those kind of things where the birth of change or birth has labor, now were starting the labor pains of this change thats about to happen. It is almost like the murders that took place that got all of these young people in the streets was the water breaking on Ok, thats enough, the water broke and now were in labor and lets see what the result of this labor will be.

Democrats discover a new team player: Bernie Sanders
After criticizing his role in 2016, top Democrats are heaping praise on Sanders and his top brass for working overtime to get Joe Biden elected.
By HOLLY OTTERBEIN

Many Democratic leaders were irate in 2016 over what they saw as Bernie Sanders failure to fully get behind Hillary Clinton and work hard to get her elected.
Four years later, theyre heaping praise on the Vermont senator and his top brass for their efforts to put Joe Biden in the White House.
Sanders dropped out of the primary months earlier than he did in 2016, swiftly and wholeheartedly endorsed Biden, and set up policy task forces with him. Despite opposition from fellow progressives, senior Sanders aides have created super PACs to support Biden. And in an effort to avoid a repeat of the unruly Democratic National Convention during the last presidential election, Sanders team has told some of the delegates representing him there to sign a pledge swearing off attacks on Biden and other party leaders.
It has not gone unnoticed.

Check out this absurd email the Trump Whitehouse just sent me...
The White House May 29, 2020
Check out this absurd email Twitter just sent us
Dear 1600 Daily subscribers,
We are forwarding you this email that the White House just received from Twitter. Its so absurd, we just had to share it with you.
This morning, the White House Twitter account reposted text from a tweet sent by President Trump. A short time later, Twitter censored the tweet, claiming it violated Twitter Rules about glorifying violence.
That is completely false. As the President just explained again, his tweet was CONDEMING violence and pledging federal support to keep Minnesotans safe.
The email we just received, presumably sent by a different team within Twitter, admits that the very tweet they are censoring does not violate any Twitter Rules.
Yet the tweet is still censored.
Twitters own staff just made this much clear: Twitter is a publisher with an editorial viewpoint, NOT a platform.
See the email below for yourself:

Key swing state warns of November election 'nightmare'
The outcome in Pennsylvania could remain up in the air long past Election Day.

PHILADELPHIA Pennsylvania could determine the presidency. But it might not be clear for days who won the state on Nov. 3.
Election officials throughout the critical battleground, which is implementing no-excuse mail-in voting for the first time ever amid a pandemic, say they are unlikely to finish counting those ballots the night of the general election.
If the race is close enough as it was in 2016, when Donald Trump carried the state by only 44,000 votes that could mean the status of one of the nations biggest swing states could remain up in the air long past Election Day.
My nightmare is that on Election Day in November, you're waiting for Montgomery County's results to declare Pennsylvania to declare who wins the White House, said Montgomery County Commissioner Ken Lawrence, a Democrat who chairs the Board of Elections there. The reality is that all of our counties are going to be in that same situation, and it will take a while to actually count the ballots.

Democrats Unveil Giant New Coronavirus Relief Bill
Source: HUFFPOST
The HEROES Act includes provisions for more and bigger stimulus checks, as well as an extension to pandemic unemployment benefits.
By Matt Fuller, Arthur Delaney, Daniel Marans, Emily Peck, and Tara Golshan
Democrats released yet another proposal for a coronavirus economic relief package on Tuesday a $3 trillion bill with more money for enhanced unemployment benefits, money for state and local governments, and funding for a host of other Democratic priorities.
Of importance to most Americans: The bill, called the Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions, or HEROES, Act, includes a second wave of $1,200 payments to the vast majority of U.S. households this time with even more inclusive eligibility rules than the previous payments. Benefits would go to immigrants and would be protected from garnishment by banks and other debt collectors.
Previous income thresholds would remain the same, but instead of $500 per dependent like the last round, the new proposal offers $1,200 ― with the amount families are receiving capped at $6,000.
And the proposal would give an extra $13 per hour in hazard pay to essential workers in health care, food retail, public safety and transportation.

Contrasting messages from Biden and Trump on World Press Freedom Day
PoliticoWhile the president once again referred to journalists as the Enemy of the People, the Democratic candidate praised them for upholding free and open democracies.

Former Vice President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump sent starkly different messages about the role of the media on Sunday, a date that the United Nations has designated World Press Freedom Day.
Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, issued a statement praising journalists for upholding free and open democracies, both here at home and around the world.
Trump, by contrast, began his day by tweeting: The Fake News doesnt show real polls. Lamestream Media is totally CORRUPT, the Enemy of the People!
He was referring to his claim that he has a 96 percent approval rating in the Republican Party. The Gallup poll he pointed to had found a 94 percent approval among Republican voters and 49 percent approval overall the highest of his presidency. Trump then targeted NBC News and CNN for going out of their way to say GREAT things about China amid the coronavirus pandemic, which originated in that country.

Trump thought it was a good idea for Hannity to explore legal action against the news outlet for its critical coverage of how Fox News handled the coronavirus crisis.

Over the past month, as Fox News personality Sean Hannity seethed over hisand his networkstreatment in The New York Times, one of the hosts closest friends quietly encouraged him to exact some revenge on the newspaper for reporting that Hannity had downplayed the threat of the coronavirus.
This particular friend was none other than President Donald Trump, who at the time was busy overseeing the federal response to the pandemic and resulting U.S. economic implosion, as his reelection campaign was also filing lawsuits against various local and national media outlets.
According to two people familiar with the matter, Trump had privately gossiped with Hannitya prominent informal adviser to this president and one of Trumps preferred late-night phone buddiesabout the Fox hosts desire to make an example of the Times. Though President Trump thought it was a good idea for Hannity to explore legal action against the news outlet, one of the two sources stressed that it wasnt the presidents idea for Hannity and his attorney to shoot off a threatening letter to the Times. Trump did not order or direct Hannity to do so, this source said.

The Newest Fox News Doctor Duo Has Been 'Emphatically' Condemned by Physician Groups
Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi are making some wild claims about coronavirus fatality rates. Its made them media stars. But actual doctors are appalled.
Will Sommer
Updated Apr. 29, 2020 5:00AM ET / Published Apr. 29, 2020 4:47AM ET
Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi co-own a chain of urgent-care clinics. They dont appear to have any significant epidemiological experience. And their claims about coronavirus have been widely debunked by experts, including a national physician and emergency-care group that issued a joint statement emphatically condemning their reckless and untested musings.
Nevertheless, the two California doctors have managed to become rising stars on Fox News for downplaying COVID-19s severity. And they recently garnered another round of news coverage after inviting local media outlets to their office last week with an announcement that they had research that proved it was time to end the states shelter-in-place order.
Do we need to shelter in place? Erickson said. Our answer is emphatically no. Do we need businesses to be shut down? Emphatically no.
