Romney/as Senate majority leader

if we don't get a majority --there just might be a few 2022 GOP retirees/weak runners that might vote that way-------I can raise more objections than most people ----but McConnell needs to go

please continue Oath Keepers

we fully appreciate the good work that you have done in Virginia ----you've taken the former bright red ---Republican stronghold and former capital of the Confederacy -----and made it BRIGHT BLUE ---when Trump said there are good people on both sides it infuriated a lot of Virginians -the removal of Confederate memorabilia on Monument Avenue in Richmond is a direct result-----on the campus of Virginia Military Institute you have successfully caused the removal of the Stonewall Jackson statute-----and the celebration of Confederate Heroes has been removed and now ELECTION DAY is a holiday there---- you actually have done more for FAIRNESS -----which you call "librul" ---than most of the leaders of the left----

2024 is now --Trump as the artist or magician

I kinda like what Trump has been doing. His command of the artist's palette is one of my favorite things because he knows how to change red to blue. His comments of encouragement to the racists in Virginia have turned the entire state BLUE. The racist monuments of Confederate so called heroes---traitors in my book---on Monument Avenue in Richmond are coming down. VMI ---a bastion of racism has fired their top administrator and the statue of Stonewall Jackson is coming down. --Mr. Trump has done even more for the Democratic party with his cruel comments about John McCain so that now we have TWO Democratic Senators coming to DC from Arizona . ---I like Trump's work in Georgia--he has taken a long term safe Republican state and turned it into a Democratic stronghold. Trump seems to be doing more damage in Georgia than Sherman's March to the Sea. It doesn't look like Trump will win, but we can hope if he does he will complete his work in Texas where his political palette is turning the State blue. ----The trend in Texas ----Romney won it by 19 points, Trump beat HRC by 11 points (Hillary received 3,877,868 votes) and his most recent "win" against Biden is a 6 point spread with Biden receiving 5,222,058 votes. Texas is an electoral vote gold mine with its 38 electoral vote, California has 55 and New York has 29 ----that is a pretty good start to 270 EV for the win. My call is that the Democrats should work Texas hard for the next four years. Florida has a lot of EV but it is unstable vote wise because of the OWIDS like me----(OLD WHITE IRRELEVANT DUDES) ---who can't be counted on the vote in a stable manner (except for me)---so he has been good for the Democrats so far. Trump has said that he was going to build a wall ----and he did---he just turned Maine BLUE ---so New England now has a blue wall all the way to West Virginia. Thank you Donald Trump for your brand damage to the Republican Party

My pick for our new postmaster general

Here is my pick for our new Postmaster General -- Rep Abigail Spanberger(D) Virginia - a former CIA officer and Postal Service investigator, presented herself as a moderate focused on issues affecting rural Americans. In campaign ads, she also highlighted her background in intelligence and national security. Just won again in Virginia's 7th. She is a hero in my book because she defeated David Brat( of Eric Cantor dethroning fame) in the 2018. And she just squeaked by to win again. She is a safe appointment because her Democratic Governor will be able to appoint her replacement (picks anyone?)

What do you think? Electoral College (EV) with DC and Puerto Rico as US States

a lot of talk right now about Trump and the new SCOTUS rigging the 2020 in Trump's favor. But what happens in all those states that elect a Democratic majority in the Senate? Sure they can rig the election on EV but they can't rig the Senate vote. End the filibuster? Start a new impeachment against Trump? Adopt DC and Puerto Rico? I don't think any of these thoughts are unreasonable considering what we have been through for the last four years. Opinions?

If Pence is unable to serve----Joe Biden could be in the White House before the election

Nancy could step down temporally---the House appoints Biden Speaker---he assumes the Presidency-appoints Harris as his VP--Nancy gets reelected to Speaker ---EZPZ-------and this is what might happen --and AOC could be appointed to SCOTUS now---(never mind that she is not qualified ----she is a lot better than Kavanaugh---and you don't have to have a law degree to be on SCOTUS---if there are that many GOP Senators sick and unable to serve she could win --fewer headaches

The Constitution does not require the speaker to be an incumbent member of the House of Representatives, although every speaker thus far has been.[4] The speaker is second in the United States presidential line of succession, after the vice president and ahead of the president pro tempore of the Senate.[2]

Falwell promises Cruz---Trump blackmails with the POOLBOY story

Falwell drops Cruz endorses Trump-----David Pecker/National Enquirer already had the "Poolboy" story----and offers Trump a "catch and kill" ----Michael Cohen for the assist -the BIG STORY here after all the entertaining salacious stuff ---is blackmail ail used to win an election ------a classic out of the Trump playbook

Bill Barr messed up ---Berman is the hero and wins the day

the BAnnon case was getting hotter ---and Barr tried to stop it ------and others---he news of Bannon's arrest comes at an interesting time for SDNY. Two months ago, Attorney General Bill Barr tried to force out the US attorney for the office, Geoffrey Berman, and to replace him with someone outside the ordinary line of succession. Berman professed to be deeply worried about what might happen to unspecified investigations SDNY was pursuing and initially refused to resign. Only when Barr agreed to let Strauss — Berman’s trusted deputy — take over did Berman accept his firing.

I like the fact that Audrey Strauss is the attorney on this case.

Leningrad Lindsay in CONNNECTICUT ---of all places

In New Haven, CT ---We just received a letter from Lindsay Graham addressed to us as REGISTERED DEMOCRATS!! The letter whines that he was treated unfairly by Democrats because of his Kavanaugh vote to SCOTUS. All I can say is that Jamie Harrison ---Graham's Democratic opponent for his Senate seat ---and his team are doing a super job. Graham is in serious trouble if he has to ask for money in Connecticut.

Dan Rather -to MATTHEWS SLOT-please play HARDBALL

Let's petition MSNBC to hire Dan Rather to fill Chris Matthews slot until the end of the year---he can have fellow Texan Willie Nelson on for his first show and have a ratings bonanza for the station----betcha he would steal a lot of the Fox audience too----a lot of them were fans when he reported the best news --

About New Haven

A child of the 60's, a lifelong Democrat and a sense that our elected officials , especially the President, set the tone of civility in our great country. I worked on JFK's campaign and on Barack Obama's (twice). High School Class of 1963 I was moved by MLK's March on Washington, and to see that go full circle and have Barack Obama for President is quite gratifying. When I see remnants of the John Birch society still quite active in the Tea Party/MAGA it strengthens my beliefs and support of the Democratic Party.
