Clinton donates millions to strapped Democratic Party

Hillary Clinton isn’t yet the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, but she’s already good for its bottom line.

The Democratic National Committee began the presidential election year almost $1 million in the hole — a bad situation that would have been even worse without the millions of dollars in fundraising that Clinton’s campaign sent its way.

That kind of assistance makes Clinton unique in the 2016 presidential field. No one else, Republican or Democrat, is raising money for his or her party at this early stage, including her Democratic rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders.

While that money would benefit Clinton should she capture the nomination, it comes with short-term complications. Already, Sanders allies have complained that the party favors her, pointing to the initial scarcity of debates as one example.

Here's All the Business N.C. Has Lost Because of Anti-LGBT Bill

Since North Carolina passed an anti-LGBT bill March 23, the backlash from businesses and entertainers has been swift. Corporations have canceled expansions in the state, therefore scrapping jobs that they were planning to offer, in protest of House Bill 2.

HB 2 struck down LGBT-inclusive antidiscrimination ordinances in cities and counties statewide, and prohibits cities from adopting any new ones. It also expressly requires transgender people to use public bathrooms and locker rooms that do not match their gender identity.

On Tuesday, N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory issued an executive order that made limited changes to HB 2. The order affirms that private businesses and nonprofit groups can establish their own policies for restroom facilities, something that was not affected by the law but has been the subject of some confusion.

McCrory’s action also affirms that private businesses, nonprofits, and local governments can establish their own employment nondiscrimination policies — for their own workers. And it expands the state’s employment nondiscrimination policy to include sexual orientation and gender identity — that is, for state employees.

Interesting info about Paul Song

if it wasn't for Bill Clinton, his sister in law might still be doing hard time in North Korea

On January 3, 2007, Ling announced her engagement to radiation oncologist Paul Song.[20] They married on May 26, 2007, in Los Angeles, California. The wedding party included guests such as Connie Chung, one of Lisa's personal heroes, and actresses Kelly Hu and Diane Farr.[21] On June 7, 2009, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from National University, after giving the commencement speech there.[22] In October 2012 Ling announced on Anderson Cooper's talk show that she and her husband were expecting their first child, a baby girl. She gave birth to a daughter named Jett Ling Song on March 8, 2013.[23][24] The family resides in Santa Monica, California.[25][26]

Her younger sister, Laura Ling, also a journalist, was managing editor of Vanguard at Current TV and currently a host and reporter on E! Network. In March 2009 Laura and her colleague Euna Lee were detained by North Korea for illegal entry into the country. They had been attempting to film refugees along the border with China.[27] In June, they were sentenced to 12 years in a labor prison for illegal entry into North Korea, and unspecified hostile acts.[28]

North Korea released Laura and Euna on August 4, 2009 after a visit from former U.S. President Bill Clinton.[29] Laura and Lisa went on to collaborate on the first book either has had published, Somewhere Inside: One Sister's Captivity in North Korea and the Other's Fight to Bring Her Home, published in May 2010.[30]

what the hell is going on about Bernie trying to flip delegates at the national convention?-HRC Grp

Email from the campaign

It seems the Sanders campaign is finally seeing the writing on the wall: Hillary has won more votes AND more pledged delegates in this election -- her lead in both is nearly insurmountable.

So this morning, Bernie’s campaign manager claimed the convention could be an “open convention,” and declared they’re going to try and flip delegates’ votes, overturning the will of the voters.

Your vote is your voice, and the Sanders campaign shouldn’t be trying to circumvent the process -- or the nearly 9 million (and counting) people who have made their voice heard for Hillary in this election.

has the Bernie campaign finally lost what few marbles they had left?

do they want to hand the general election to the republicans?

what the hell are they thinking over there?????

The Electoral College: The Only Thing That Matters

We live in a post-factual era. Thanks to the Internet and social media, which mix informed and uninformed views in equal measure, the old rule — that people are entitled to their own opinions but not their own set of facts — no longer applies. Somewhere in cyberspace, you can now find blogs and treatises with “facts” that support your opinions, no matter how bizarre.

Here at the Crystal Ball, though, we are going to cling to one central fact about presidential elections: The only thing that matters is accumulating a majority of 270 votes in the Electoral College.

Creating Electoral College projections is a marvelous parlor game, and we’ve been doing so here since we obtained our magical sphere of crystal from China many years ago. (All other details shall remain confidential.)

We’re now at the point in the nominating process where it is, er, crystal clear that Hillary Clinton will end up being the Democratic candidate, and Donald Trump, while not at all the certain winner, is the leading candidate to become the Republican nominee. So it’s time to adjust our 2016 electoral map for the first time since we rolled out our initial ratings last May. That map, shown below as Map 1, reflected a generic Democrat versus Republican matchup, and it depicted a close, competitive general election.
