A guest on Fox News defended white supremacists over undocumented immigrants on Thursday evening.
“The white supremacists are American citizens,” Mark Steyn, a regular guest on the network, told Tucker Carlson. “The illegal immigrants are people who shouldn’t be here.”
Steyn, who Carlson introduced as an “actual thinker,” was speaking about a segment on CNN in which Chris Cuomo ripped the Trump administration for making undocumented immigrants seem like “monsters” and “villains” while ignoring the threat posed by white supremacists.
“That may be well and true,” Steyn said, but added that it was “irrelevant” because the white supremacists were citizens.
“The organizing principle of nation-states is that they’re organized on behalf of their citizens, whether their citizens are cheerleaders or white supremacists or whatever,” he said. “You’re stuck with them.”
Steyn also complained of “cultural transformation” in Arizona due to immigration:
Carlson called it “bewildering for the people who grew up here.”
That would not include Steyn. He’s from Canada.

Trump appointee resigns as head of volunteer agency over racist remarks

President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the government’s volunteer service organization has resigned after a CNN report revealed that the appointee had made racist and other inflammatory remarks.
Carl Higbie, chief of external affairs for the Corporation for National and Community Service, made racist, sexist, anti-Muslim and anti-LGBT comments while appearing on the “Sound of Freedom” radio show in 2013.
I’m sorry,” Higbie tweeted Friday morning. “I’m not sorry that my words were published, I am sorry that I said them in 2013. Those words do not reflect who I am or what I stand for, I regret saying them.”
In the 2013 segment, he made several comments against African-Americans, Muslims and homosexuals. He also said that soldiers suffering from PTSD had “weak mind[s]” and said that gun-carrying Americans should be permitted to shoot undocumented immigrants.
“Last night I informed the WH that I was resigning so as not to distract from POTUS’ many success. #noexcuses,” Higbie added.

"We're promoting birth control to a black woman because of the incredibly high rate of children born out of wedlock that are under-cared for or not cared for at all," Higbie said in one quote from a segment in which he accused black people of "a lax of morality."
In another segment that dealt with immigration, Higbie is quoted saying, "What's so wrong with wanting to put up a fence and saying, 'Hey, everybody with a gun, if you want to go shoot people coming across our border illegally, you can do it" for free.

(CNN)The Justice Department filed a notice Friday to re-try Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez on bribery and corruption charges.
A trial last fall resulted in a hung jury. Menendez pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Trump to overhaul HHS office, shield health workers with moral objections

The Trump administration on Thursday will announce an overhaul of the HHS civil rights office as part of a broader plan to protect health workers who don't want to perform abortions, treat transgender patients seeking to transition or provide other services for which they have religious or moral objections.
Under a proposed rule — which has been closely guarded at HHS and is now under review by the White House — the civil rights office would be empowered to further shield these workers and punish organizations that don’t allow them to express their religious and moral objections, according to sources on and off the Hill. That would be a significant shift for the office, which currently focuses on enforcing federal civil rights and health care privacy laws.
HHS is planning to announce the changes at its headquarters Thursday morning.
The department's leaders have repeatedly criticized the Obama administration for rolling back regulations dating to the George W. Bush administration that legally insulated health care workers while affirming their religious freedoms.
Roger Severino, the Trump administration appointee who now leads the HHS civil rights office, has repeatedly stressed that strengthening conscience protections for health care workers is a top priority for his office.
That's alarmed advocates for LGBT patients, who say they're already fighting to overcome stigmas and discrimination and who warn that the policy shift will only worsen their situation.
"This is the use of religion to hurt people because you disapprove of who they are," said Harper Jean Tobin of the National Center for Transgender Equality. "Any rule that grants a license to discriminate would be a disgrace and a mockery of the principal of religious freedom we all cherish."

Overall Advantages and Disadvantages of the MoCA
The MoCA's advantages include its brevity, simplicity, and reliability as a screening test for Alzheimer's disease.

A disadvantage of the MoCA is that it takes a little longer than the MMSE to administer, and like many other screenings, it should be paired with multiple other screenings and tests to accurately identify and diagnose dementia.
