Good on you and co-workers!

Please extend my congratulations to one and all.

I have a birth-certificate coffee mug also, but my dogs never say anything about it. There's a lot to be said for the peace and quiet of living alone, but conversation sometimes lags.

Has anyone else noticed

how much Yelton even LOOKS like Archie Bunker?

Sorry I can't get the rec button to work; I'll try again later

But that's a very important OP. Sometimes I think abuse at the hands (or voice) of another female does more damage to a female victim's self esteem than if it came from a man - which is bad enough.

There's a difference between healthy skepticism and termite behavior.

I seriously doubt you'd accept Harry's accomplishments regardless of what he does. But I realize some people will never be satisfied or even pleased no matter what. Fortunately when they're in the vast minority, their ability to damage is minimal.

And you're the political science authority in the room?

Nope. Not buying it. All the sincerity in the world doesn't make you right. Sounds more like you might be trying to tear down some of our better leaders; is it to enhance your own sense of superiority, boost your chances of advancement, what? I accept that you might have honest reasons for attacking them, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Besides, I believe you're flat out wrong whatever the motivation.

I read your post carefully. You 'illustrated' the 'problem' to your own satisfaction, true,

But hardly to my own or many others'. Of course I answered my own question: for the benefit of those who might be clueless.

Trying to back up your own misperceptions with more of the same only compounds your mistake. You might desire an outcome beneficial to all, but when your basic premise remains false, you'll fall far short of the goal. Weak premise, weak argument, weak result.

How has he maintained his position so long if he's such a horribly ineffective

communicator as you maintain? He IS elected Speaker by his peers, you know. Consistently, over a long period of time. I think you're confusing your dislike with reality. The GOP has tried for years to drive a stake through his heart to no avail. Saying he's a poor communicator is as off the mark as saying that about the President and Nancy Pelosi. Together they form what the TPs call an unholy trinity.

Thanks, but remember I was sick in bed and no remote at hand

Otherwise I'd have turned him off too. Reading short articles in which he's featured is about my natural limit. Must do that much because we fail to know our enemy at our own peril. But enough's enough!

Arpaio is probably toasting the death of a child this evening.

People who applaud it have already sunk to his level. There's no deeper to go!

What YOU said! I'm just sick over this too.

If I had a close relative who ever said some of this callous stuff about shooting little kids playing with obviously toy guns, I'd never speak to him or her again, even if it were a rich aunt or uncle certain to cut me from the will.

My personal opionion is that people who concur in what happened haven't earned their space on this planet. They'd sing a different tune if it had been their own child.

God save us from our saviors.

About IrishAyes

Still an ardent Irish-American Catholic damnYankee Yellow Dog Democrat socialist after all these years. (cue Simon music) Army brat and wife for many years, now have been on the loose far longer than I was married. After my two red chows died, I took in a mini-beagle cross that I named Molly Maguire, thinking she might need a good Irish name like my original real one. Later she got a baby sister, a smooth-coat JRT I named Brigid after the greatest of the ancient Celtic goddesses. My great-grandfather and his son fought for Michael Collins and barely made it out of Ireland one step ahead of John Bull. They slipped over to Wales for new identities and then forward to the States for a fresh start. That makes me second generation of illegal but certainly justified immigrants. There are precious few people to whose defense I fly immediately, but the list includes Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama even when I disagree with him - it happens! - and living Irish patriots Gerry Adams and Martin \\\'Mind Your Kneecaps\\\' McGuiness. I pray earnestly for a united and free Ireland rescued from all official British occupation, with every square inch of alleged \\\'ancestral lands\\\' now held immorally and illegally by the invaders returned to the rightful owners. Irish-only rule for Ireland. No foreign masters anymore! I find it passing strange when Brits chide ME about \'interfering\' in Irish politics!
