On a much more serious note, I've always admired New Orleans jazz funerals. They play dreadful sad on the way to the cemetery, then break into a dance tune on the way back for the wake. NO isn't like the rest of Louisiana at all.
Another
.... along that line: Friends help you move. Good friends help you hide the bodies.
However, with all due respect, allow me to suggest that humane people can indeed take delight in an evil man's misfortune. The only difference between Hitler and Arpaio is geography and generation. Whether I really should rejoice and dance on the man's grave (even if in symbolic anticipation) may be up for argument; but I'll tell you true, abuse enough tends to inactivate the tear glands. And I don't feel one single solitary shred of regret about it, either.
So did I
... and I'm just a little old Irish lady! Lord knows, though, nobody ever hit me twice. Even now, though bullies on auto-pilot still mistake me for an easy mark, one of the worst I ever met (a local bus driver) nearly pees his pants when he sees me. Otherwise he would've killed me already like he threatened to do. I told him I'd take the pins out of his doll if he'd behave, and now the idiot thinks I'm a witch!
One time when he got out of the bus and stood waiting for people to get off, he looked up and saw me, the last passenger, standing on the steps and he jumped backward with a sharp cry. Almost fell. I wish he had. So the next time I saw him before he saw me, I pinched his jacket sleeve and told him I was collecting cooties to make an impotence spell with. He pretty much stays out of my way now.
Thanks
I swore off waiting in long lines years ago, but I would for the chance to dance on that man's grave. He should be buried vertically, feet up, so he can face his eventual destination. And I'll bet the line would stretch across 3 states at least. That unspeakable creature used to pick up unaccompanied little brown children walking to grade school and have them dumped in Tijuana to try to find their parents on their own if they could. I hope when he does die that Cesar Chavez gets a whack at him before final sentencing.
Brandy
.... is nectar of the gods. You sit and swirl it in the glass, inhale gratefully, enjoy the aroma, anticipate the taste, and every once in awhile actually take a drop or two. Spend half an hour with a good glass of any decent brandy and you can forgive almost anyone anything.
Sickening
Do they think they can shame poor people off critical public assistance? Shame on THEM!
Poor people share what little they have far more than any imaginary generous Mr. Moneybags - they're the most giving in the world because they know what poverty feels like. Now their supposed betters want to further crush their spirit by the strong insinuation that they're likely to be drug abusers on top of the sin of poverty? It doesn't surprise me coming from a Repug, but any Democrat involved should be kicked to the curb. The only possible eventual bit of good I can imagine coming from this would be if it finally woke up the poor white GOP sheeple to the true nature of their masters who scorn them so and drive a few over to our side.
Mr. Wells
... would've loved me then. I sold my car because it made no economic sense in retirement, when I can hire a driver cheap if need be. I had heavy duty wire baskets welded on the rear sides of my bike and a big one on the handle bars. When necessary I can bring a week's worth of groceries home on that contraption. Don't know if you could do that with a slimmer geared bike, but mine's a heavy old coaster type.
In this neck of the woods, that's another major social crime against me. I manage money far better than most of these GOP shriekers, and I fly in the face of too many conventions. One afternoon at a big rummage sale one of the women at checkout hollered above the noise of the crowded room: "Hey, ***, are you still riding that old bike around town?" Snicker, snicker. I chirped back, "Sure am!" (twirled around proudly) "And look what it's done for my figure!"
To understand the snark in my reply, you'd need to know that all 3 women sitting at that little table had to weigh close to 275 apiece. I'm a flyweight by comparison. Most of them are not too smart around here, what with brain drain and inbreeding, but they grasped the meaning that time. All of them jumped up and waddled off in a huff toward the kitchen. I had to make a freewill offering for my purchases.
Major point being, if you wake up in the middle of a teabagger pitchfork crowd, don't argue directly and don't let their barbs show any effect. Just pop a better one right back at 'em. I know for a fact I'm on the misnamed 'Patriot' enemies list, because it's been bragged about openly. If you think the GOP is a harmless bunch of bumblers, you're wrong. They're sociopaths teetering on the edge of trying to ignite a race war. But more on that story when I have time, boys and girls.
Correct on Both Counts
What you said, although the main problem really lies upstairs.
And your quote from the Magistrate about how Romney loves America. Mind if I borrow that? Thanks, I shall. Might even make me sound witty! Well, where I retired in RedNeckLand, it could get me killed. But at least that would get me out of here!
Really?
They might've signed the papers, but they haven't changed their hearts. Economic slavery is just as evil. Whole world's guilty there. You'll read in history books that England abolished slavery far ahead of the U.S. But what England actually did was impose it under another name, often 'indentured servitude'. Few people seem to know that after hundreds of years of illegal occupation in Ireland, it simply scooped up children 7-15 years of age and shipped them off as slaves in fact on the various Indies sugar plantations. Just rounded them up like criminals and shipped them away wholesale by the many thousands.
This attitude was still endemic in the early 20th century when yet another repressive official English document declared proudly, "At last we shall be free of the scourge of the Irish in Ireland." How decent people anywhere can fawn over Lizzy the Hun and her spawn makes me sick to my stomach. Makes me want to bequeath what little estate I'll have left to the IRA.
History Will Repeat Itself
The deeper and wider the gulf between haves and have-nots, the closer humanity has always come to armed revolution. Never, ever fails. Doesn't always produce the hoped-for results, but it ALWAYS happens. People on the verge of despair can't think clearly. Of all the corporate fleas in the world, at least the Sage of Omaha knows that fat cows give more milk.
