IrishAyes's JournalPresident Obama accomplished something the R's tried and failed to do.
The basic plan - concerning exactly the same 5 Gitmo prisoners - had been under discussion well before President Obama ever took office. The fact that President Obama brought the plan to fruition is what enrages the GOP since they freak out when he gets credit for anything. Even worse when he shows he can do what they can't.
Besides the fact that Bush jr. released well over a hundred Gitmo prisoners - but when GOPers do it, that's okay.
There are ANY sane Republicans left?
Where? They'd be rare enough to equal male calico cats.
Thanks for the wake-up OP. I hope the people who need to see it take heed.
Myself, the first thought in my mind every morning is how can I stick it to the GOP today?
Thanks, but no I'm not using that model.
Unfortunately I'm just ignorant enough to cause worse problems if I tried a manual configuration. During the coached attempts at installation, the computer and TP-Link were connected via cable. The bleepin' TP-L is supposed to pull in other wifi signals wirelessly. Which it surely did, as I said - just only a strong signal I wouldn't need boosted.
Oh well - maybe someday when I do get my own ISP back, the gadget will be good for networking in the house. As if I need that! It's just me and I only have one laptop; such a creature of habit I work on a table next to the sofa.
I just spout off when something doesn't work or is misrepresented. But I very much appreciate your efforts to help.
oops!
Only this minute did I remember the awful way one of the Repukes referred to President Obama himself as 'that one'. But I know everyone knows I meant the picture. Odd what dredges up old memories, isn't it? I hadn't thought about it for so long. Unfortunately sometimes I have a memory like a (yikes!)... elephant.
Seguing right along, this Sunday I plan to wear my elephant-print wraparound fisherman pants to church. If anyone remarks on the print, pray that I don't spout off about how much I love sitting on elephants! Actually, these are clearly Asian and I don't suspect them of being tainted with American politics at all.
The lady I most like to sit with during service is sweet, very old, nearly blind, and quite deaf. She's the one who was standing next to me in line at a carry-in and brought the entire noisy room to an awkward silence after she boomed: "ARE YOU THE LADY WHO WRITES THOSE LETTERS IN THE PAPER?? I LOVE 'EM BUT MY SON HAS TO READ THEM OUT LOUD FOR ME BECAUSE I CAN'T SEE." By some miracle I managed not to cackle and rofl; she might've taken it wrong. I was just so delighted at the way she brought the whole room to a screeching halt. Her poor son, arch conservative that he is like the rest, stood there frustrated but at least smart enough not to intrude on the moment. One of my favorite occasions in life, and I was (almost) completely innocent. I just smiled and said, "Yes, ma'am, guilty as charged!"
(I'll try to remember not to tell this story again for a lonnnnng time.)
TP-LINK STINKS.
I got so mad this evening that I posted the following on their FB page. I'm sure it didn't stay up long.
........................................................................................................
Totally disappointed in the TP-LINK 150 MBPS WIRELESS N ACCESS POINT (for wireless repeater) I bought several months ago. At that time tech support told me the problem setting it up was due to a malfunction in my old computer, which I had no reason to doubt and still don't.
So this evening after recently being given a refurbished business class laptop in excellent condition, I decided to try to connect the TP-LINK again. It appears the company has off-shored tech support since my last call. Couldn't understand the first tech; called back, got the bleepin' machine all configured at last, only to discover that the SINGLE SOLITARY neighborhood signal it offered to 'boost' for me was a full 5-bar PRIVATE signal that 1) didn't need boosting and 2) is PRIVATE.
I have permission to piggyback the church signal across the street, but that waxes and wanes depending on any number of factors outside my control such as weather and # of users. THAT'S WHY I WANTED A WIRELESS BOOSTER! But this damn TP-LINK won't even pick it up.
Have to admit the alleged supervisor who called me back was fairly polite and patient, and there really was nothing he could do except take my complaint, but I told him I intend to let the whole damn world know that TP LINK will only boost a signal so strong it doesn't need boosting - so why should some other poor chump waste $ on it?
This is what I do when I'm mad as hell and not about to take it anymore. Eventually I'll get around to the FTC because I consider the claims made right on the TP box to be fraudulent.
I'd LOVE it - and you too for doing us such a great favor.
Not that I deserve it in any way, but I'd be delighted to see my name listed as a BOG member.
One request re pix: The head shot where he's standing in the rain; one poster remarked that it looked as if he was about to drop Album of the Year. That was the best description I read. If you don't know which one I mean, I could get it off my archive flash drive for you.
PS: It's not either of the two above. The one I mean was just Joe Cool to the max.
Anything that looks like GOP Pants On Fire sends me into paroxysms of hysterical glee.
Believe me, I'll dance on their political graves.
If anyone has ever earned his oxygen, it's President Barack Hussein Obama.
The ONLY reason I'll be glad to see the end of his second term is for his sake, so he can get some well earned rest. Lord help us, how that man has been abused by the very people who owe him the most.
How pathetic they still are and always shall be - for what I hope will be a VERY limited
existence, at least in the sense of being a force for evil. Because that's what they are - absolute, unmitigated EVIL.
