What???

McCain and Bush supporters virtually INVENTED swift boating. Talking about crying wolf!

McCain isn't despised for breaking under torture. He's despised for all the other things he did and continues to do. Watch the video if you haven't eaten recently and you'll understand. Hero, my foot! Benedict Arnold would qualify ahead of him.

McCain doesn't oppose ratting out his buddies

... if you believe vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.org

Actually that seems to be a dead link now, but wikki has an article on them, and I think you can still see this on YouTube:

Now I don't care for Rand Paul any better than I do for McCain, either. Just wanted to make that clear.

Although I was against the Vietnam war, agreeing with Bradley, I still accepted and wore an honorary POW bracelet with a particular captain's name on it, and that man never returned. Even now I wear it on Veteran's Day. Add to that the lesser crime of McCain's involvement in the Keating scandal which vaporized a group of investors I had won for a film project, and you'll understand why I'll never take the pins out of my McCain doll.

Home At Last

That's how I feel, walking in the door. While I do at times disagree with President Barack Obama, I enjoy great respect for him. It's a myth - actually a low-down dirty lie - that everyone on his extreme left has serious issues with him. One of these days when it's not too late in the evening, I'll share a letter I wrote to him after a funny dream. Don't worry, it's clean!

Beautiful

Wish I'd written that.

Gutters

... in big cities have other applications than bowling balls! 'nuff said.

The wittiest response

... to the best thread I've encountered so far. And believe me, there's a wealth of choices on this website.

Too bad I arrived so lately; in my more honest moments, I have to admit I might have a Little Meta living somewhere inside me. While I try not to beat a dead horse, sometimes it's irresistible. Then I just want to keep answering every little twitch it makes until it gives up or out.

Someone recently asked if the thread on proofreading had turned into a meta. Not only (if at all) because of me, I hope.

Now, I'll yield the floor to my betters.

There's such a thing

.... as too far over the top to be acceptable. And most people who overstep usually retreat to a false claim of 'just kidding'. Learn modulation if you really don't seek to offend.

One last thing: you can't apologize for someone else's feelings. I own mine and you own yours. "Sorry you were offended" is just a cop out. What you need do is apologize for your own behavior that caused the offense - if indeed there's any sincerity to your apology.

I wasn't offended

Just mystified. Maybe it's because I skipped my afternoon nap. Not making the connection between the two posts so I'd have a chance of understanding the humor. And I hate to miss out.

I like puns

and this nickname seems to suggest, "Yes (aye), I'm Irish".

Well, I didn't say it was a good pun.

Who be ye?

March 10, 2013

No

It's just a friendly little neighborhood rumble.

About IrishAyes

Still an ardent Irish-American Catholic damnYankee Yellow Dog Democrat socialist after all these years. (cue Simon music) Army brat and wife for many years, now have been on the loose far longer than I was married. After my two red chows died, I took in a mini-beagle cross that I named Molly Maguire, thinking she might need a good Irish name like my original real one. Later she got a baby sister, a smooth-coat JRT I named Brigid after the greatest of the ancient Celtic goddesses. My great-grandfather and his son fought for Michael Collins and barely made it out of Ireland one step ahead of John Bull. They slipped over to Wales for new identities and then forward to the States for a fresh start. That makes me second generation of illegal but certainly justified immigrants. There are precious few people to whose defense I fly immediately, but the list includes Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama even when I disagree with him - it happens! - and living Irish patriots Gerry Adams and Martin \\\'Mind Your Kneecaps\\\' McGuiness. I pray earnestly for a united and free Ireland rescued from all official British occupation, with every square inch of alleged \\\'ancestral lands\\\' now held immorally and illegally by the invaders returned to the rightful owners. Irish-only rule for Ireland. No foreign masters anymore! I find it passing strange when Brits chide ME about \'interfering\' in Irish politics!
