Heading up the studio, which is called Airship Syndicate, is Joe Madureira--a veteran comic book artist renowned for his work at Marvel Comics--and Ryan Stefanelli. Together the two founded Vigil Games.
Their first project brings back Battle Chasers, a comic book series created by Madureira and published by WildStorm in 1998. The series developed a passionate following but has remained dormant since around 2001.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a video game set in the same universe as Madureira's series, and the studio is asking for $500,000 in crowdfunding on Kickstarter to make it.
As the game's developers note, while Darksiders drew heavy inspiration from The Legend of Zelda, Battle Chasers: Nightwar is inspired by Japanese role-playing games such as Final Fantasy.

Earlier this year, Joe Madureira hinted at the possibility of Battle Chasers, his creator-owned series, returning in some form. After leaving comics for a time to focus on game development, and then releasing two games with Vigil Games and THQ, it seems the time is now right for Gully, Garrison, Calibretto and the rest of the gang to make their comeback. Battle Chasers: Nightwar will see Joe Mad return to the series and characters for the first time in almost 15 years, but this time the franchise is stepping into a new arena — video games.
Using Kickstarter to fund the development for PC and Mac (other platforms will follow if stretch goals are met), Airship Syndicate is bringing the fan-favorite comic to life as a JRPG. If you’re at all familiar with Battle Chasers, you know just how perfect a fit the world of that series is for a role-playing game steeped in the traditions of Squaresoft and Enix, but with a modern twist. That means there’ll be loads of turn-based battles, mana and dungeon crawling to go around, but the dungeons will be generated randomly and have a bit of that Diablo flare.
You can see a decent amount of early gameplay in the video above, including some nice looks at the combat in action. The party system will carry three members, each with their own special abilities and gear. More skills will be unlocked as you level up, allowing you to tailor the fighters to your liking. Characters will have two different mana pools to use, with one (blue) being resigned to core attacks and one (red) for special moves. These heroes will also react differently to the red mana, with some like Garrison getting boosted and others like Knolan being slightly penalized.
Airship is also including a variation on the initiative system, which will see buffs and debuffs included at random intervals. If a character attacks or defends during one of these moments, the action will activate. You’ll be able to see where and when these slots are coming in the order, so you can plan around them, for better or worse. Additionally, dungeon exploration will play a large role, and there will be pitfalls and traps to avoid alongside the enemy encounters. Playable characters will have specialized skills for traversing these dangerous halls, which will come in handy considering dying in a dungeon will lead to a loss of your items. There’s a lot more to Battle Chasers: Nightwar, including a story that flows alongside the comic series itself, and animated story sequences for major points in the narrative, but details on those aspects are a bit light at the moment.

Whether it takes 14 years between releases or not I don't know...but as a Joe Mad fan I can't pass this up.[/font]

In the last few years, I’ve watched a continuing battle among my friends about which is worse for you: artificial sweeteners or sugar. Unless you want to forgo all beverages that are sweet, you’re going to run into one of these. Rather than rely on anecdote or myth, we can inform this debate with research.
The available evidence points to the fact that there appears to be a correlation between sugar consumption and health problems; none can be detected with artificial sweeteners.
Let’s start with artificial sweeteners. These have, for decades, been attacked as harmful chemicals. But everything is a “chemical,” and not all of them are bad for us. One of the oldest artificial sweeteners is saccharin. Starting in the 1980s, Congress mandated that any product containing it be accompanied by the following: “Use of this product may be hazardous to your health. This product contains saccharin, which has been determined to cause cancer in laboratory animals.”
But what was the basis for this decision? A review article published in The Annals of Oncology in 2004 noted that more than 50 studies had been published looking at saccharin in rats. Twenty of these were “one generation” studies, meaning that they did not look at the rats’ offspring. In only one of those studies did huge amounts of saccharin produce cancer, and it was in a type of rat that is frequently infected with a bladder parasite that would leave it susceptible to saccharin-induced bladder cancer...

The SCOTUS ruling upset right-wingers across the Internet today, and in the immediate wake of the ruling, many of them partook in a the fine American tradition of threatening to leave the country on social media.
But where would they go? You would assume a country like Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, or Uganda would be to their liking. But, incredibly, no. Instead, to escape marriage equality, these bigots threatened to flood America’s northern border — and move to Canada.

The SCOTUS ruling this morning was a huge blow to the right-wing and the bigotry that they’d been defining themselves with lately.
The tweet #lovewins began trending almost immediately after that, celebrating the victory of the right to marry over bigotry and homophobia. And while this isn’t the end of the battle — in many ways, it’s just the beginning — today was a day for celebration and reflection.
Many right-wingers had no intention of doing that, however. Instead, they took to twitter and threatened to move to Canada.

Some Fire Emblem Fates (Fire Emblem If in Japan) news! Some of it good, some of it not so good.
First, the good! Fire Emblem Fates is going to allow same-sex marriage. Because marriage is such an important part of the game, that’s a big deal! Nintendo tells Polygon “We believe that our gameplay experiences should reflect the diversity of the communities in which we operate and, at the same time, we will always design the game specifications of each title by considering a variety of factors, such as the game’s scenario and the nature of the game play.”
If you want to play it (literally) straight, male-female married couples will still make babies, same as they did in Awakening. But if your male MC hooks up with a male partner (or female MC hooks up with a female partner), they’ll unlock special combat ratings.
And now, the bad news! It seems that most of the multiple-edition bullshit present for the game’s Japanese release is making it over to the West.
