Anyone know of pet rescue groups near the russilville area (I'm needing one, now.)

A drop off dog had puppies under my shed. I counted 4, but there are probably more.

I've tried city control, but since the mother appears to be part pit they are legally bound to refuse assistance.

Anti-Marijuana ad being run in Florida

[img][/img]
There's been a lot of chatter about Florida's upcoming vote on medical marijuana legalization bill, Amendment 2.

But No On 2, a campaign partially funded by Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, is taking the talk in a new, low direction: suggesting that legalizing marijuana used for people with seizure disorders and diseases would lead to date rape by pot cookie.

“I think any woman should find that offensive to somehow suggest that if you use medical marijuana to deal with a health issue that you’re trying to deal with that somehow that’s going to make you more susceptible to rape," he added. "It’s really beyond the pale.”

"The only thing that's offensive is Amendment 2," countered No On 2 spokesman Javi Correoso in an interview with news channel WPBF.
Figured I'd repost this. Given how hot of a topic he is on DU right now, seemed a good time to.

Religious Freedom for All - As long as you're Christian (Beebe AR Church dispute)
Bertram and Felicia Dahl initially got a supportive response from the local government of Beebe, Arkansas, when they announced their intentions to open a church in the garage behind their home, but Mayor Mike Robertson completely changed his mind upon hearing that the Dahls' place of worship was a pagan church, reports Arkansas Matters.

...During a meeting with Robertson, he reportedly told them that they "would not be opening a Pagan anything" in the town, and that they would be barred from the docket if they tried to attend a town meeting.

City Attorney Barret Rogers told Arkansas Matters that the property could not operate as a temple due to the zoning laws. However, the property's R-2 zoning designation allows places of worship and private nonprofits with conditional and special use permits, a category which Seekers Temple falls into.
SWAT raid leaves toddler paralyzed and in a induced coma

ATLANTA — The mother of the toddler injured after a flashbang was thrown into the home where their family was staying told Channel 2 Action News Friday morning that the boy remains in a medically-induced coma.

“He is in a medically induced coma and he is paralyzed. I hope he’s not going to remember this. I know his sisters, his mommy and his daddy will never forget this," the boy's mother, Alecia Phonesavanh, said. "Our kids have been through enough this year. This is just more trauma that they didn’t need, and I just wish there was something better I could do to make it better for him. Wrong place, wrong time. There’s nothing I can do about it."

...A family says a SWAT team raided their home in the middle of the night and seriously injured a 19-month-old boy with a stun grenade.

..."The cops threw that grenade in the door without looking first, and it landed right in the playpen and exploded on his pillow right in his face."

Follow up - The toddler has lost use of one lung, and has a laceration on his chest that can't be closed due to the stun grenade charring the surrounding skin.

Sexism in safety Laws - Bike helmets are sexist because 'helmet hair'
The resident from Scone in New South Wales was issued a $153 on-the-spot fine for riding without a helmet while in Adelaide for this week’s Velo-city international cycling conference.

And she will be riding without a helmet again on Thursday afternoon as part of a protest ride from the city to Henley Beach organised by Freedom Cyclists — but this time police have promised no bareheaded riders will be fined during the event...

“I firmly believe more people would ride bikes if helmets were optional,’’ she said.

“It is a very sexist law because a lot of women have maintained hairstyles and would end up with helmet hair — and women have told me that’s one of the factors (for not riding bikes)’’.

I've long hair that doesn't exactly agree with helmets either, but I'd rather have messed up hair then a cracked skull.

Speaking of that, I'm sure a cracked skull will do wonders for your hair.

Texas man facing five to life, because he made pot brownies

We're learning more about the man facing five years to life in prison for allegedly making and selling pot brownies. Police in Round Rock arrested Jacob Lavoro last month. He's charged with a first degree felony. Think that's harsh? Lavoro's lawyer and family would agree with you.

"It's outrageous, it's crazy! I don't understand it" exclaimed Joe Lavoro. He's Jacob's father. He made the comment outside the courtroom after one of what could be many court appearances for Jacob. "Five years to life?" he continued. "I'm sorry, I'm a law abiding citizen. I'm a conservative. I love my country. I'm a Vietnam veteran, but I'll be damned ... this is wrong, this is damn wrong!"

Opps - Clercical error ends a womans 23 year marriage, because she is 'officially' a man

A British woman has had her marriage dissolved and her dreams of living permanently in Australia wrecked by the fact she is officially a man.

Kim Walmsley was accidentally listed as male on her birth certificate and, upon finding this out, her marriage was declared illegal.
http://metro.co.uk/2014/05/02/mum-of-five-finds-out-her-23-year-marriage-is-gay-and-illegal-4716738/

...I'm wondering just why it's taken so long, and so much money, to change the certificate. This isn't a case of a sex change and wanting to change the listed gender. She's had five children, I'm pretty sure thats more then enough proof that she is actually female.

Rapist ordered to preform community service... at a Rape Crisis Center.
A Texas judge who ordered a rapist to serve community service at a rape crisis center has been forced to reconsider the sentence.

In a police interview, Sir Young admitted that he had raped a 14-year-old girl in 2011 at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts when he was 18.

“I hate to have that on my plate. But that’s rape,” he told police.

According to The Dallas Observer, Young could have served 20 years in jail, but Dallas County District Judge Jeanine Howard showed him leniency during last week’s sentencing.

Howard ruled that Young would only have to spend 45 days in jail, but it was the “250 hours of community service at a rape crisis center” that shocked victim advocates.

It's a somewhat common rehabilitation idea - Make the convicted work with people who have suffered from tee same actions, so they may see just how far reaching their actions are. Some cases, it's a good idea that works reletively well. In this case, well... Not that bright of a idea.

So, for those of you screaming "REHAB, NOT PRISON!!!"... Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it.
