"A similar worldview consumed the walnut-sized mind of the president who got us into the war"

'American Sniper' Is Almost Too Dumb to Criticize
Almost.
By Matt Taibbi | January 21, 2015

The thing is, the mere act of trying to make a typically Hollywoodian one-note fairy tale set in the middle of the insane moral morass that is/was the Iraq occupation is both dumber and more arrogant than anything George Bush or even Dick Cheney ever tried.

No one expected 20 minutes of backstory about the failed WMD search, Abu Ghraib, or the myriad other American atrocities and quick-trigger bombings that helped fuel the rise of ISIL and other groups.

But to turn the Iraq war into a saccharine, almost PG-rated two-hour cinematic diversion about a killing machine with a heart of gold (is there any film theme more perfectly 2015-America than that?) who slowly, very slowly, starts to feel bad after shooting enough women and children – Gump notwithstanding, that was a hard one to see coming.

Sniper is a movie whose politics are so ludicrous and idiotic that under normal circumstances it would be beneath criticism. The only thing that forces us to take it seriously is the extraordinary fact that an almost exactly similar worldview consumed the walnut-sized mind of the president who got us into the war in question.

Justice Department Said Ready To Clear Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson

Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON, Jan 21 (Reuters) - The U.S. Justice Department is about to close the investigation into the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, and clear the white police officer involved of any civil rights charges, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.

The newspaper quoted law enforcement officials as saying that federal prosecutors had begun work on a legal memo recommending no civil rights charges against the officer, Darren Wilson, after an FBI investigation found no evidence to support charges against him.

The Justice Department declined comment.

The agency is still conducting a probe into the Ferguson police force. A St. Louis County grand jury decided last year not to prosecute Wilson.

"...I may be lonely, I may be the only one, but..."

I may be lonely, I may be the only one, but I'm going to stand absolutely faithful to the issue of marriage not because it's a politically expedient thing to do because it isn't. I'm going to do it because I believe it's the right position, it's the biblical position, it's the historical position.

Bill O'Riley performs Frankenstein test: fire BAD, wine GOOD, bread GOOD, Socialist suing Fox BAD.

During an interview Tuesday with CNN's Christiane Amanpour, (Paris Mayor Anne) Hidalgo announced she plans to sue Fox News after the network "insulted" the image of the city with a bogus report on non-Muslim "no-go zones." Over the weekend, the network apologized four times for several unsubstantiated claims made on the air, but Hidalgo insisted that the city will "have to go to court in order to have these words removed."

O'Reilly hit back Tuesday night, calling the threat of legal action "ridiculous" and an "attention-getter," and took time to remind viewers that Hidalgo belongs to the Socialist Party.

"I didn’t have anything to do with this, but I will point out that the mayor is a socialist, that Fox News isn’t even seen in France, because they block it there,” he said. "So this is just an attention-getter, another playing to the left, that’s what this is. Suit’s going nowhere. It’s ridiculous.”

When commentator Bernie Goldberg pushed back, stating that "if any news organization has to apologize as many times as Fox has over this one issue, something is wrong,” O'Reilly attempted to shift the blame to Steven Emerson, the Fox News guest who made the initial "no-go zones" remark about Birmingham, England.

Once again, Fox dunce Steve Doocy confuses "homeless" with "without a home of your own"

I've had Fox & Friends on in the background. For anyone why asks "Why," it's simple. I had MSNBC on this morning and Mika was particularly annoying, and I wanted to hear what Fox had to say about the SOTU, for laughs. So THERE.

Anyway, "Fox & Friends" has Craig Wayne Boyd, the guy who just won "The Voice." Doocy gushed "YOU LOST YOUR TRUCK! YOU WERE SLEEPING ON SOMEONE'S COUCH! YOU WERE HOMELESS!"

No, motherfucker, he was not. If you are sleeping on someone's couch you are "without a home of your own" but you are NOT homeless.

Just ask anyone who slept outside last night, you clueless prick.

And for the record, when he said that, Boyd grinned from ear to ear and nodded his head up and down in agreement like Mister Ed.

Fuck you, Doocy. You too, Garth...er, I mean "Craig Wayne."

This is not the first time bonus points were awarded for "you go, girlfriend" footwear, and I'm sure it won't be the last.
