Right-wing / birther filmmaker's Ted Cruz fantasy, "The Constitution Strikes Back"

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/watch-ted-cruz-wield-constitution-powered-lightsaber-in-bizarre-fan-film-20160104

Ted Cruz's campaign ads have, so far, been pretty standard conservative fare, with lots of talk of "hope, freedom and faith in God" — a little too standard for one Cruz supporter. Filmmaker Joel Gilbert took it upon himself to jazz up Cruz's message with a Star Wars-themed video starring a SIM Cruz charging the Capitol atop a giant white elephant.

"It is a dark time for the Republic. A deceptive and radical donkey has seized the capital and shredded the constitution," the opening crawl of The Constitution Strikes Back reads. "A powerful rebel must arise to unite the elephants and save the nation."

We won't spoil the whole thing for you, but we will say it involves a Constitution-powered lightsaber that "Cruz'" may or may not use to ward off RINOs and a donkey-riding President Obama drunk on executive power.

Gilbert, a repeat guest on the Alex Jones Show, and an Obama birther so devout that he made a film about it, wrote that he was inspired to create the Cruz video after the candidate compared his fight against liberals to Star Wars while filibustering Obamacare: "When I heard the Star Wars references, I envisioned Ted Cruz as a Jedi rebel warrior who could save America from the Progressive abyss."

Motion to Block Subpoena of Bill Cosby's Wife Denied

Motion to Block Subpoena of Bill Cosby's Wife Denied

http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/motion-block-subpoena-bill-cosbys-wife-denied-36066095

Bill Cosby's wife will be forced to testify in a defamation lawsuit filed by seven women who accuse the comedian of sexually assaulting them decades ago.

A federal judge on Thursday denied a motion by Camille Cosby to throw out a subpoena requiring her to give a deposition in the lawsuit. She is scheduled to be deposed by lawyers for the women on Wednesday.

U.S. Judge Magistrate David Hennessey in Springfield, Massachusetts, said Camille Cosby failed to prove that she and her husband were protected by the state's marital disqualification law. He also rejected claims that the value of the testimony would be outweighed by the "undue burden" the deposition would cause.

The arguments "do not outweigh the potential significance of Mrs. Cosby's testimony, nor has Mrs. Cosby provided any authority that they do," Hennessey wrote in a 12-page ruling.

I have watched "Plan 9" every night for the last 7 nights on Hulu...ask me anything.

I do that sometimes. Somehow a daily viewing of "Plan 9" was the prescription for my fever, not more cowbell.

"...a secretive, devious officeholder with a taste for luxury and a thin skin..."

http://digbysblog.blogspot.com/2016/01/they-hate-him-they-really-hate-him.html

On Sunday, our @issue section featured our own annual gubernatorial report card on Christie, as well as the results of a reader survey conducted by the Asbury Park Press, our sister paper, as well as this newspaper. He received little more than Cs and Ds from us on a variety of issues, and he flunked in a few areas for 2015, when he has essentially checked out to run for President.

But from the readers’ perspective, we were generous. More than 1,300 people responded and they found Christie to be a failure across the board, the majority giving him Fs in every policy area. It is a remarkably negative assessment that also reflects recent polling that shows Christie’s approval rates in the state at all-time lows.

Readers’ worst marks were reserved for Christie’s total lack of transparency as governor. From the Bridgegate debacle to his refusal to expose security-detail expenses forced upon taxpayers to fund Christie’s campaigning, the governor is widely and rightly seen as a secretive, devious officeholder with a taste for luxury and a thin skin.

Facebook reacts to the Guns 'n' Roses "reunion."

https://www.facebook.com/RollingStone/posts/10153236077635779

Daniel Grabowski I know axl rose can still sing!!! I heard him while he was skimming my neighbors pool this past summer

Joe Ramsey Loved GnR back in the day... hate to see them turn into a parody of themselves for the paycheck, but it's inevitable at this point. Hell, Slash has been doing fake shows with wannabee Rose singers for the last few years.... Too bad.

Eric Draven Why even give this douchebag a platform now that he is probably hard up for cash? He refused to appear at the rock and roll hall of fame when the band was being inducted. He was, is and always will be a whiny bitch who ruined a great band.

Richie Knoell Then he'll throw a tantrum and not show up to the gig. I like G&R, but Axl Rose is a true "Rock & Roll Douchebag"! He must need money. Beg your fans for forgiveness, dipshit.

According to one source (http://melodicrock.com/articles/news-feed/2015/12/30/guns-n-roses-reunited-lineup-tour-announced-january-6):

The rumors have all touted a reunion of the “classic” or “original” lineup.

But it’s not what people might have expected.

From everything I have heard from multiple trusted sources, the new Guns N Roses lineup will consist of:

Axl
Slash
Duff

With:
Richard Fortus
Frank Ferrer
Dizzy Reed

All of this is rumoured until confirmed, but from what I’ve heard, Steven Adler, Izzy Stradlin and Matt Sorum are not going to be involved.

One of my conservative friends just posted this on Facebook, and NOT as a joke.

There are no words.

He's getting "likes" and high-fives from his conservative buddies.

Goat Meat Found in Home of Indian Man Killed Over Rumors That He Ate Beef

Goat Meat Found in Home of Indian Man Killed Over Rumors That He Ate Beef

http://www.thedailymeal.com/travel/goat-meat-found-home-indian-man-killed-over-rumors-he-ate-beef/123015

A preliminary investigation regarding the death of Mohammad Ikhlaq — the Indian Muslim who was beaten to death by an angry crowd over rumors that he had slaughtered and eaten a cow — has found that the meat in question taken from Ikhlaq’s home was goat meat, not beef.

In September, Ikhlaq and his family were attacked by an estimated 100 people in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, where the possession and killing of cows is illegal. The animal is considered sacred to the country’s 80 percent Hindu majority. In recent months, an increasingly conservative ruling party has been seen as condoning a number of acts of violence against non-Hindus who do eat beef, or are suspected of doing so.

Roughly a month after Ikhlaq’s death, another Muslim man, Mohammad Hasmat Ali, was also beaten to death by a mob who suspected him of stealing a cow.

A doctor’s note from the Government Veterinary Hospital in Dadri, written in September, said, “It seems that this meat belongs to goat progeny.” The meat has been sent to another lab for a final forensic test, according to the New York Times.

My FIRST DU music video post of 2016: Motörhead's "When The Sky Comes Looking For You"

This is the final video made in Lemmy's lifetime, from the final album "Bad Magic." I know a lot of people are playing "Ace of Spades" right now, and that's great, but the band was also very proud of the new album and I think Lemmy would be delighted to be honored by playing his last new music and turning it up.

Happy New Year DU. In addition to the political discussions I look forward to sharing more music, food porn, and utter nonsense with you in 2016.
