Kirk Cameron on "great big bobble-head Obama costume(s) with great big ears and an Obama face"

Actor Kirk Cameron is urging Christians to celebrate a holiday many fundamentalists shun: Halloween.

“When you go out on Halloween and see all people dressed in costumes and see someone in a great big bobble-head Obama costume with great big ears and an Obama face, are they honoring him or poking fun?” the former "Growing Pains" star asked the Christian Post.

"They are poking fun at him," he said. Then, he added:

“Early on, Christians would dress up in costumes as the devil, ghosts, goblins and witches precisely to make the point that those things were defeated and overthrown by the resurrected Jesus Christ. The costumes poke fun at the fact that the devil and other evils were publicly humiliated by Christ at His resurrection.”

Sarah Palin speaks out against "unprofessional, hypocritical, and unethical news coverage"

Facebook post, which means it probably was not written by Palin.

I thought I'd seen it all, but this one leaves me with that punch-in-the-gut, flabbergasted shock that I can't shake anymore while witnessing the media's free fall into that damaging darkness covering America. The media is at fault for so many aspects of the division and hopelessness running rampant in our society. It's not the people – it's the media perpetuating a sense of injustice and despair, resulting in apathy or desperation in homes and communities all across our country. The degradation falls on your shoulders, media principals. Though many have tried to give CNN the benefit of the doubt with their overall news coverage (in fact I've even been happy to publicly point out issues CNN has fairly covered), shame on us if we continue to support their unprofessional, hypocritical, and unethical news coverage. It's truly sickening, yet strangely laughable, their underestimation of the wisdom of their audience. Compare these two videos Bristol highlighted in her latest blog post:

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/bristolpalin/2014/10/compare-these-two-videos-2/

This example makes me physically sick because they spit in the face of every American who has fought for freedom and sacrificed to protect everyone's First Amendment rights. It's not because this issue involves my daughter; it's because Carol Costella, her ilk, and her boss are disgustingly dismissive and disrespectful of the sacrifices made that allow them a platform from which to broadcast their hate and stupidity. CNN is lucky to have their few outstanding employees that shine through the darkness that is CNN. I admire the good ones, and hope they land at more deserving companies when CNN goes under. Zucker, not for my sake, but for the sake of a cornerstone of our democracy—the press—get ahold of your underlings. They make you look really, really bad, and they are ruining America.

"Korea Takes KFC Double Down to a Whole New Level" (artery-clogging PIC)

Korea Takes KFC Double Down to a Whole New Level

They call it the Zinger Double Down King. The name is quite a mouthful and so is the concoction itself, which is Korea’s heart attack-inducing version of KFC’s infamous Double Down. Like the original, there is no bread involved in this sandwich: instead two pieces of fried chicken act as the buns and sandwiched between are the bacon strips, cheese, barbecue sauce, pepper sauce, and an all-beef burger patty. And no, in case you’re wondering, you don’t actually need to sign a waiver to take on the Zinger Double Down King. You just need $7, an empty stomach, and nerves of steel.

The sandwich’s tagline is “no bun, all meat.” And it’s true. Although we couldn’t find the nutritional facts for this new Double Down version, the original had almost a day’s worth of sodium.

The King is the newest Double down remix to hit Korea. Last year, the Zinger Double Down Maxx put hash browns, bacon, and cheese in between the two pieces of fried chicken.

Artist Shepard Fairey (Obama "Hope" campaign poster) designs limited edition George Harrison prints

Artist Shepard Fairey, best known for his Obama "Hope" campaign posters, has designed a limited-edition art print to celebrate the career of George Harrison, coinciding with the Harrison box set The Apple Years 1968–75. The posters – titled Poster for George – will be available in red and silver editions, both of which have been limited to 400 signed and numbered copies each. The red edition will be available on Shepard's ObeyGiant.com website on the afternoon of October 23rd, while the silver edition will be available at GeorgeHarrison.com at 10 a.m. PST on the 24th.

In a statement, Fairey recalled how his parents introduced him to the Beatles, leading to an obsession with the group's later records, which featured more Harrison contributions. "I got George Harrison's All Things Must Pass album a long time ago, but even as a kid listening to the radio I reacted very emotionally to the song 'My Sweet Lord,'" he wrote. "The song has a profound beauty and melancholy that is unique and powerful. I love George's solo material musically, but what speaks to me most about George's music and actions is his humanity and his soulfulness....

"I think George looked at himself as a world citizen, and not only brought international influences into his music, but was sensitive to human rights and politics around the globe," he continued. "I've always seen music and art as amazing pleasures, but also as relatable vehicles to deliver a point of view. Art and music can invite people to think about something they might ordinarily not be interested in. George put together the Concert for Bangladesh as a way of using his music to benefit humanity. I admire that he went beyond just writing songs addressing issues, and used his significant cultural weight to be an activist and put something noteworthy together, both as a way of raising money for Bangladesh, and of publicizing the situation there. George is a hero."

So Chris Christie is now channeling Chaz "Sonny" Paliminteri's character from "Bronx Tale."

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) made tough remarks while speaking at a U.S. Chamber of Commerce event in Washington on Tuesday.

"I don't care if I'm loved. I want to be respected," Christie said, according to National Journal.

"It's time to start offending people," Christie added.

Christie said he's convinced the next president of the United States "is going to be" and "needs to be" a governor.

SPOILERS<- "Does Episode 502 Provide 'The Walking Dead's' Most Shocking Moment Ever?" ->SPOILERS

http://www.forbes.com/sites/allenstjohn/2014/10/19/does-episode-502-provide-the-walking-deads-most-shocking-moment-ever/

Has there ever been a more shocking moment on The Walking Dead? (Serious spoiler Alert: The Walking Dead up to episode 502)

Yes, I know that this is a show in which a 10-year-old kid shoots his mother to keep her from turning into a walker. And one in which Rick bit open the neck of a would-be killer. And the less said about what happened at The Grove, the better.

And somehow, this moment have been worse than any of them. Bob being eaten. Alive. By a hipster. (Before writing poor Bob’s obituary, note that Hershel survived a good long time on one leg.)

“If it makes you feel any better, you taste much better than we thought you would,” smirks Gareth. Yes, you heard it right. (At least he didn’t suggest, like Chad Coleman on Talking Dead, “you taste like chicken.”)

CROSS-POSTED TO LBN: "McDonald's McRib May Be Harder To Find This Year"...the BASTARDS!

McDonald's McRib May Be Harder To Find This Year

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/16/mcdonalds-micrib-rollout-nationwide_n_5998312.html

McDonald's McRib fans may have to hunt harder than usual for the popular sandwich this year.

It will only be available at participating restaurants, rather than nationwide, the company said.

"We're letting the restaurants determine if this menu item is one their customers will enjoy," wrote McDonald's spokeswoman Lisa McComb in an email.

While McComb declined to say when the boneless barbecue pork sandwich would be available, one North Dakota franchise told CNBC it would begin selling the sandwich Monday.

The entire McRib sandwich contains about 70 ingredients — including a flour-bleaching agent used in yoga mats.

As it appears out of the box, the McRib sandwich consists of just five basic components: a pork patty, barbecue sauce, pickle slices, onions, and a sesame bun.

But, as recently reported by Time magazine, a closer inspection of McDonald's own ingredient list reveals that the pork sandwich contains a total of 70 ingredients. This includes azodicarbonamide, a flour-bleaching agent often used in the production of foamed plastics.

The entire sandwich packs a whopping 500 calories, 26 grams of fat, 44 grams of carbs, and 980 milligrams of sodium.

Jim Hightower: Dark-money (GOP) donors unmasked (Coca-Cola, Comcast, WalMart, Aetna, others)

Dark-money donors unmasked
LowDown

These are chieftains of brand-name corporate giants who have secretly funneled millions of their shareholders' dollars into the "dark money" vault of the Republican Governors Association. In turn, the RGA channels the political cash into the campaigns of assorted right-wing governors.

...

But — oops! — in September, the RGA made a coding error in its database of dark-money donors, exposing the names of a mess of the GOP's secret-money corporations.

Suddenly, the chieftains were buck-naked in front of customers, employees, stockholders and others who were startled and angered to learn that the companies they supported were working against their interests. Here are some of the corporate dreamers that were pulling the wool over our eyes: Aetna, Aflac, Blue Cross, Coca-Cola, Comcast, Exxon Mobil, Hewlett-Packard, Koch Industries, Microsoft, Novartis, Pfizer, Shell Oil, United Health, Verizon, Walgreens and Walmart.

Fred Wertheimer, a lifelong champion of political-money reform, noted that the RGA's boo-boo offers "a classic example of how corporations are trying to use secret money hidden from the American people, to buy influence, and how the Governors Association is selling it."
