Ashley Parker makes an extremely astute observation RE: why Trump's "minor" symptoms probably aren't

During a segment on MSNBC this Friday, political analyst Ashley Parker expressed skepticism over the White House’s claims that President Trump’s coronavirus symptoms are “mild.”

“So far, we are taking the White House’s word that they’ve put out that the President has mild symptoms,” Parker said. “This is a White House that lies, this is a president that lies and says mistruthful information. So it’s important to take into account what they are saying, but we actually have no idea how mild or severe his symptoms are.”

“It’s worth noting that since he tested positive, other than that tweet, we haven’t heard from him, we haven’t seen him, he hasn’t even called into Fox News or a radio show, and that has raised some questions about how truthful they are even being about the President’s condition.”

McEnany: Trump's staff is "having to hold him back a little" to "make sure that he takes it easy"

An official who asked not to be identified said “you shouldn’t read too much into a slight schedule change” and noted that Trump had spoken by phone with Republican leaders.

The White House would not say if Trump would soon be addressing the nation.

Press secretary Kayleigh McEnany only told Fox News: “You’ll be seeing and hearing from the president as he moves forward.”

“He wants to talk to the American people” but staff are “having to hold him back a little” and “make sure that he takes it easy,” she said.

A KEY point about the Hope Hicks "announcement" from Paula Reid (CBS News)

White House officials confirms @PressSec didnt know about Hope Hicks positive test before yesterday's press breifing. But important to note WH didnt reveal Hicks diagnosis - it was @JenniferJJacobs who revealed that one of the President's closest advisors had tested postive.

After sleeping on it, I'm at least open to the possibility that something in this story stinks

When my girlfriend woke up this morning, her immediate reaction was "Trump says he has coronavirus, then miraculously recovers by taking the drug from the company he owns stock in."

And of course, last night...while I was awake and this was unfolding...there were 50 other theories that could have been EASILY spun on this curent version of "The Apprentice."

But theere's something in all of this that stinks. Not sure what, but there's AT LEAST a 50-50 chance that we are looking at an October surprise from the guy who said "I sent my investigators down to Hawaii and YOU WON'T BELIEVE what they found" (nothing found, no investigators, no trip).

Boy who cried wolf---ya know?

Trump just tweeted that he's quarantining. I wonder if he understands it's for 14 days?

Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!

Republicans approach Susan Collins levels of CONCERN over November. THEY ARE CONCERNED DAMMIT!!!

Belligerent Trump debate performance stokes fears among Republicans about November

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-debate-fallout-proud-boys/2020/09/30/89dd548e-0334-11eb-897d-3a6201d6643f_story.html

The aftermath of the first presidential debate between President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden triggered a reckoning among Republicans on Wednesday about the incumbent’s incendiary remarks on white supremacy and his baseless claims of electoral fraud, with GOP officials privately expressing alarm about the fallout with key voters as the president’s allies argued that he electrified his core supporters.

Biden, who launched a train tour through the battlegrounds of Ohio and Pennsylvania, continued to pitch himself as a champion of working-class voters and saw Democrats rally around what they view as Trump’s threat to American democracy.

But few Republicans voiced outrage in the wake of Trump’s norm-shattering spectacle in Cleveland on Tuesday, including his statement that the extremist Proud Boys, a male-only far-right group known for street violence, should “stand back and stand by.” Responses ranged from silence to muted criticism, reflecting how the GOP remains convinced that an alliance with Trump and his voters is crucial for its survival.

But hewing too close to him is also seen as a mistake by some Republicans, particularly for those who wish to court moderates and independent voters.
