WASHINGTON ― Black lawmakers say theyre ready to work with President Donald Trump on some of his big-ticket legislation, despite his credibility problem with them.
But if Trumps administration thinks it can win votes by targeting black members of Congress while ignoring the rest of the Democratic caucus, its not going to work, according to Congressional Black Caucus members.
Who in the world is going to announce, Oh were going to try to siphon off 14-15 Democrats, said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.). I mean that is preschool politics.
Cleaver became visibly riled when asked about a recent report by Axios that GOP lobbyists were working with African American lobbyists to create an opening for Trump to pick off votes through the Congressional Black Caucus on a tax-reform and infrastructure package.

U.S. judge to consider objection to Trump University settlement
Source: Reuters
A U.S. judge will hear arguments on Thursday over whether to grant final approval to a $25 million settlement of fraud lawsuits against President Donald Trump over his Trump University real estate investment seminars, with at least one former student objecting to the deal.
Sherri Simpson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who paid $19,000 to learn Trump's investing "secrets," filed court papers earlier this month arguing the class action settlement should not have contained a provision barring her and other students from opting out and suing Trump on their own.
The objection raises the possibility the litigation could continue to dog Trump's presidency. During the campaign, Trump vowed to fight the fraud claims but agreed to the settlement soon after the election. Under the deal, Trump admitted no wrongdoing.
Lawyers for Trump and those representing thousands of other students in two class actions will urge U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel in San Diego to overrule the objection and approve the deal.

Trump at women's empowerment event. What could POSSIBLY go wrong?
http://www.rawstory.com/2017/03/have-you-heard-of-susan-b-anthony-im-shocked-trump-stuns-women-at-empowerment-event/
President Donald Trump joined a room full of women at a womens empowerment event Wednesday in the final days of Womens History Month. He talked about infrastructure and the Department of Transportation, heralded his cabinet full of women and rattled off some names of a few famous women.
My cabinet is full of really incredible women leaders, Trump told the room. Its unclear what he meant by the word full, however. In fact, Trumps cabinet is more white and more male than any cabinet since Ronald Reagan.
Since the very beginning, women have driven, and I mean, each generation of Americans, towards a more free and more prosperous future, Trump said. These patriots are women like the legendary Abigail Adams, right? Who, during the founding, urged her husband to remember the rights of women. She was very much a pioneer in that way. Weve been blessed with courageous heroes like Harriet Tubman who escaped slavery. And went on to deliver hundreds of others to freedom, first in the underground railroad and then as a spy for the union army. She was very, very courageous, believe me. Around weve had leaders like Susan B. Anthony. Have you heard of Susan B. Anthony? Im shocked that youve heard of her who dreamed of a much more fair and equal future and an America where women themselves as she said helped to make laws and elect the lawmakers, and thats whats happening more and more.
Napolitano returns to Fox, doubles down on debunked claims that got him kicked off the air
Napolitano caused an international incident earlier this month when he announced on Fox News that President Barack Obama had used the British spying agency GCHQ to surveil then-candidate Donald Trump. Trump repeated the claim during a live news conference, forcing the British agency to make a rare denial.
Napolitano was suspended from the network, and Fox News stated that it could not back up his claim.
On Wednesday, the legal analyst made his first appearance on Fox News following the suspension. Host Bill Hemmer immediately asked if he still stood by his claim.
I do, Napolitano insisted. And the sources stand by it. And the American public needs to know more about this rather than less because a lot of the government surveillance authorities will expire in the fall. And there will be a great debate about how much authority we want the government to have to surveil us.

Trump plans to sign broadband privacy repeal as Repubs plan overturn of net neutrality provisions
Republicans in Congress on Tuesday narrowly passed the repeal of the privacy rules with no Democratic support and over the strong objections of privacy advocates.
The fight over privacy sets the stage for an even larger battle later this year over Republican plans to overturn the net neutrality provisions adopted by the administration of former President Barack Obama in 2015.
White House spokesman Sean Spicer said he did not know when Trump would sign the bill.

Jack Kingston (R-GA): Liberals can't complain about racist OReilly jokes if they call Trump orange
http://www.rawstory.com/2017/03/trump-supporter-to-cnn-liberals-cant-complain-about-racist-oreilly-jokes-if-they-call-trump-orange/
While discussing Bill OReillys racist joke about Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) on CNN Wednesday morning, Trump-supporting former Congressman Jack Kingston said that liberals were hypocritical to attack OReilly when they make fun of President Donald Trumps orange skin color.
During a debate with former Obama spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki, Kingston questioned why it was okay for liberals to make jokes about Trump being orange, while conservatives are repeatedly called out when they make jokes about a black womans hair making her look like James Brown.
What I dont like is the left always runs and clutches, Oh, Im a woman, dont say anything bad about me or I belong to a certain race,' he said. It seems it is always that card that is played. It is okay to call the President of the United States orange and red head, and all kinds of derogatory things, and make fun of his wife right and left.
It always seems to me there is a double standard when somebody from the right is being criticized, he said. Oh, its funny, make fun of him. All day long on Saturday Night Live, run the clips all day long.

ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDSSpeaking Wednesday from the grounds of the lavish tropical estate where he plans to spend much of his downtime while in office, Donald Trump unveiled a new presidential retreat he hopes will allow him to escape from the grueling pace of life at Mar-a-Lago.
With its sunny climate, secluded setting, and luxurious accommodations, the 45-acre Caribbean hideaway known as Isola Vistawhich sits on a pristine white-sand beach along the island of St. Thomas southern coastwill reportedly serve as a haven where the president can find respite from his five-star Palm Beach, FL resort and its many day-to-day pressures.
After a while, all that time spent at Mar-a-Lago starts to take a toll, Trump said of the relentless routine of recreation and extravagance he experiences at his oceanfront Florida club. Im there so much that sometimes I just need to get away and clear my head. Here in St. Thomas Ill have a place where I can simply relax and, for a little while at least, forget about all those headaches I left behind in Palm Beach.
Added the president, A few days in the Caribbean should be all I need to feel refreshed and ready to get right back to the usual grind of Mar-a-Lago.
