“The most striking fact of his speech was how backward looking it was,” the editorial board said. “Every incumbent needs to remind voters of his record, Mr. Trump more than most because the media are so hostile.”

Yet, Trump is asking for four more years, the Journal questioned.

“Yet, Mr. Trump is asking for four more years, and his preoccupation with vindicating 2016 won’t resonate much beyond his core supporters,” the editorial said. Yet, according to analysts, that’s what they’re hoping to do for 2020, expand the Trump base.

“One paradox is that his main policy successes have come from pursuing a conventional conservative agenda,” the op-ed continued. “The failures have been on the issues like trade and immigration that are the most identified with Trumpian disruption.”

President Donald Trump introduced a long-deceased sibling moments after officially announcing his re-election bid during a campaign rally in Orlando, Florida.

“And I am profoundly thankful to my family, I have a great family. Melania, Don, Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany, baron, Lara, Jared, Robert, Marianne, Elizabeth and my late brother, Fred, Jr.” Trump said.

Fred, Jr. was Trump’s older brother and died of a heart attack almost four decades ago, passing in 1981.

“In a telephone interview last week, Mr. Trump said he had learned by watching his brother how bad choices could drag down even those who seemed destined to rise,” The New York Times reported in 2016. Seeing his brother suffering led him to avoid ever trying alcohol or cigarettes, he said.”

Those who entered the venue were treated to a pleasant female voice booming out instructions to protestors — and a creepy warning.

“While we all have the rights to free speech, this is a private event paid for and hosted by Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., and you came to hear the president,” said the voice. “To accommodate the right to free speech and peaceful assembly, while ensuring an orderly rally, we have provided a secure area outside the venue for all protesters, and we ask anyone wishing to demonstrate to please exit to that secure area.”

“Despite this accommodation, some individuals may still seek to disrupt our patriotic event, and President Trump needs your help in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere at all times,” the voice continued. “If a protest starts near you, please do not in any way touch or harm a protester. Please notify law enforcement officers of the location of the protester by holding a rally sign over your head and chanting, ‘Trump! Trump! Trump!’ Encourage others around you to do the same until officers can remove the protester from the rally.”

Trump has previously been even less restrained in his advice to supporters at his rallies, which are infamous for their angry energy. He previously suggested that supporters should “knock the crap” out of protesters and that he would pay the legal fees.
