NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll: Majority think Russia will interfere in November midterm elections

Majority think Russia will interfere in November midterm elections

(CNN)More than half of American adults say they believe it's likely there will be Russian interference in November's midterm elections, according to a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll released on Wednesday.

The 57% of Americans who believe there will be interference represents a new high since the poll began tracking the question in February, when only 41% of Americans said the same.

The most likely to believe Russia will meddle in the midterms are strong Democrats (77% likely), those who live in suburban areas (68%), and whites who graduated college (67%). The groups most likely to say Russia won't do anything are strong Republicans (63%), Donald Trump supporters (58%), and white evangelical Christians (54%).

Only a week after downplaying Russia's interference in the 2016 US elections, Trump tweeted Tuesday that he was "very concerned" about Russia meddling in the 2018 midterms -- but on behalf of the Democrats. The poll was conducted days before that tweet.

The "other" Miles...pick your favorites from this selection.

...I thought I'd share a shot of my Miles Davis collection, since I've mentioned him many times during my time at DU.

This is where I go when I need a spark, a catalyst for the creative juices.

Yes, there are two copies of "Kind of Blue"...the Mobile Fidelity and 50th Anniversary editions, and the music shows up a third time on the "Complete Columbia Recordings of Miles Davis and John Coltrane" box set.

SHS: "President Trump is the most accessible president in modern history"

The Post reports that Trump has singled out CNN’s Jim Acosta and April Ryan, who reports for the Urban Radio Network, as well as being a CNN contributor.

The report states that Trump has sought to revoke their White House Press credentials in order to keep them at bay.

“These people shouting questions are the worst,” Trump reportedly complained, according to a White House official. “Why do we have them in here?” adding, “Is there nothing that we could do?”

On Friday Press Secretary Sarah Sander’s defended Trump who has been accused of being hostile to the press, issuing a statement reading, “President Trump is the most accessible president in modern history. He has done almost three times as many question-and-answer sessions with reporters as his predecessor, and we continue to provide access to the press in a number of venues and formats every day.”

"Nirvana reunion" Facebook campaign launched...with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger

A Facebook campaign (https://www.facebook.com/events/1728947913820951/) has been launched with the aim of staging a Nirvana reunion, but with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger taking the late Kurt Cobain’s place. Launched by the Be Reet online community, the show would allegedly take place on Jan. 1, 2019 at the Nirvana Hair and Beauty Bar in Manchester, U.K.

The post features Kroeger superimposed onto a photo of Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic plus touring guitarist Pat Smear, accompanied by a caption reading “the campaign begins here.” It soon drew comments, including: “Will Hole reform with Avril Lavigne?” “Hopefully this is as good as Metallica at Joe's Crab Shack was a few years ago,” and “The one in the middle looks like the guy from Foo Fighters.”

Be Reet’s other spoof events include “Looking at this photo of Christian Bale” on Oct. 18, “Ian Brown to Release Album of Opera Classics” on Dec. 21 and “Tea & Biscuits with Lionel Rich-Tea and Limp Bizkit” last Dec. 25.

At time of writing, nearly 900 people had said they were going with another 2,400 interested. NME has already found one music critic who is in favor of the performance actually taking place; he argued that Kroeger displayed “the same power, energy, and no-fucks-given attitude that made Kurt such a poster-boy.”
