Rolling Stone: "'Gay' Doritos Prompt Freak-Out."

'Gay' Doritos Prompt Freak-Out

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/gay-doritos-prompt-freak-out-20150918

Specifically, homophobic bigots are freaking out about Doritos this week, upon the news that the popular cheesy chip-maker is releasing a special rainbow-colored bag in partnership with the It Gets Better Project, a non-profit established by sex advice columnist Dan Savage to combat mental illness and suicide in LGBT youth. Conservative media is not interested in your talk of preventing youth suicide, it seems. That bag looks queer, dammit, and they will not have it. Here are some of the more over-the-top responses.

Cheese dust will turn you kids gay
"Doritos are a product marketed to children, so they make the perfect gateway snack to introduce children to the joys of homosexuality," writes Ed Straker of the ironically named American Thinker website. "What business does PepsiCo have pushing homosexuality on our kids?"

Gross-out
Unable to muster an intelligent argument for why Doritos shouldn't fundraise to stop youth suicide, many conservative pundits just tried grossing you out instead. "It gets ickier: Doritos teams up with door-licking nutball Dan Savage," Michelle Malkin primly tweeted, referencing a comedy article that Savage wrote 15 years ago in which he joked about how he wished he could give anti-gay Gary Bauer the flu. (Needless to say, the common theme in anti-Savage diatribes is a complete lack of humor on the part of conservatives.)

"Here's something that you don't want to think about while snacking on your chips," Bethany Blankley of Charisma News writes. "Left out in nearly all discussions about homosexuality is the reality that sex often infects people with E. coli bacterial infections, spreads sexually transmitted diseases and can cause anal cavity bleeding and rupturing." (In reality, gay sex – which Blankley seems to believe is only anal sex – is not inherently any more dangerous than hetero sex.)

Insane Clown Posse Win Appeal in FBI Gang Lawsuit

Insane Clown Posse Win Appeal in FBI Gang Lawsuit

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/insane-clown-posse-win-appeal-in-fbi-gang-lawsuit-20150918

Insane Clown Posse scored a major victory in their efforts to remove their "Juggalos" fanbase from the FBI's list of organized gangs as a federal appeals court ordered that a Michigan court hear the case. ICP's lawsuit against the FBI, filed with the assistance of the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan, was initially dismissed from a district court in January 2014, citing failure to prove "injuries suffered." But the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati ultimately overturned that decision Thursday, NBC News reports.

The lawsuit stems from a report filed by the FBI's National Gang Intelligence Center in 2011 that labeled Juggalos as a "loosely organized hybrid gang," a designation that members Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope claimed unfairly profiled their fanbase. The duo alleged that their fans often lost their jobs, were discharged from the military and even were evicted from their homes because of the FBI's report that associated ICP's clown logo as a gang emblem. Their notoriety as a "organized gang" also resulted in canceled concerts.

“We're thankful that the Juggalo family will finally get their day in court," the duo said in a statement on their official site following Thursday's ruling. "Discrimination against someone based solely upon the type of music they listen to is just flat out wrong and it’s time that the legal system acknowledges that. The FBI's labeling of Juggalos as a gang has wreaked havoc on thousands of lives, resulting in job losses, dismissal from military service, eviction, lost child custody and constant harassment and profiling from law enforcement organizations all across the country."

Insane Clown Posse also proclaimed Thursday's decision as a "major step in our fight to clear our family name." No court date for the lawsuit has been scheduled yet. The duo said in closing, "Thank you for standing strong with us in this battle and MUCH CLOWN LOVE! WHOOP WHOOP."

House OKs GOP bill blocking Planned Parenthood payments

Source: Yahoo News

WASHINGTON (AP) — A divided House voted Friday to block Planned Parenthood's federal funds for a year, as Republican leaders tried to keep GOP outrage over abortion from spiraling into an impasse with President Barack Obama that could shut down the government.

The House voted 241-187 for the legislation, with just three Republicans and two Democrats defecting from their party lines. The measure stands little chance of enactment, since Senate Democrats have enough votes to block it and for good measure the White House has promised a veto.

Yet Republicans are forging ahead, sparked by secretly recorded videos showing Planned Parenthood officials discussing how they take tissue from aborted fetuses for medical research.

Those videos have helped mushroom the longtime political fight over abortion into a prominent issue for next year's elections. They've also refueled Congress' always-emotional clashes on the subject, with Friday's debate featuring a poster-sized photo of a scarred, aborted fetus and accusations from each side that the other was simply trying to drum up campaign donations.

St, George, Utah: Native American second-grader sent home from school over traditional mohawk

I posted this in GD and am cross-posting it here by special request.

ST. GEORGE, Utah — A 7-year-old Native American student was removed from his classroom this week after school officials decided his Mohawk haircut was too distracting.

The second-grader, whose parents are Seneca and Paiute, chose a hairstyle that is popular with native peoples in many places, his father said Thursday, but his wife still received a call from the school saying it went against the Arrowhead Elementary School’s dress code.

He was allowed to return to class only after a member of the Seneca National Tribe, located in New York, penned a letter to Washington County School District administrators confirming that the hairstyle is a common tradition among tribal members.

“It is common for Seneca boys to wear a Mohawk because after years of discrimination and oppression, they are proud to share who they are,” wrote William Canella, a Seneca Nation Tribal Councilor. “It’s disappointing that your school does not view diversity in a positive manner, and it is our hope that (the boy) does not suffer any discrimination by the school administration or faculty as a result of his hair cut.”

Trump Doesn't Challenge Man Who Called Obama a Muslim

Donald Trump declined to correct a man who said that President Obama is a Muslim and "not even an American" during a town hall meeting in Rochester, N.H.

"We have a problem in this country. It's called Muslims," the questioner said to Trump. "We know our current president is one. You know he’s not even an American."

The Trump supporter continued, "But anyway, we have training camps growing where they want to kill us. That’s my question: When can we get rid of them?"

Trump responded, "We’re going to be looking at a lot of different things. And you know, a lot of people are saying that, and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there. We’re going to be looking at that and plenty of other things."

Sharif don't like that rockin' Casbah thing, and Bristol Palin don't like Ahmed at the White House

Bristol Palin criticizes Obama for inviting Ahmed Mohamed to White House

By Mina Abgoon. CREATED Sep 17, 2015

In a blog post published Thursday, Palin argued that Obama should “STAY out” of the situation, according to The Huffington Post and other sources.

She wrote, "This encourages more racial strife that is already going on with the 'Black Lives Matter' crowd and encourages victimhood.”

Though she acknowledged that police “clearly” made a mistake taking Ahmed to juvenile detention, she said that Obama is merely trying to “egg it on.”

"Childish games like this from our president have divided our country ... even more today than when he was elected," she further wrote.

Man robs bank, then attempts to deposit the money into his own account

This has to be one of the stupidest bank robbers ever.

Paul Neaverson, 61, walked in to a branch of NatWest in Rainham, Kent and held a knife to the cashier’s neck.

However he was caught out when he asked the clerk to transfer the money in to his own bank account.

And why did he do it? Because he needed money to book a flight to Corfu for a job interview as a golf coach. Of course.
