WOW! Don Jr. will also campaign with Ted Cruz! No word on Eric, Ivanka, or Tiffany's availability.

In a tweet Friday, President Donald Trump announced that he’d be coming to Texas in October to participate in “a major rally” for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican incumbent facing a tougher-than-usual challenge this year against Democratic U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke of El Paso.

“I will be doing a major rally for Senator Ted Cruz in October. I’m picking the biggest stadium in Texas we can find,” Trump tweeted Friday afternoon. “As you know, Ted has my complete and total Endorsement. His opponent is a disaster for Texas — weak on Second Amendment, Crime, Borders, Military, and Vets!”

Cruz previously said he hoped the president would make a trip to Texas prior to the 2018 midterms. Donald Trump Jr., the son of the president, is also planning to visit the Lone Star State in September to campaign with Cruz, The Washington Post reported.

The rally will bring together two former political adversaries. During the 2016 election cycle, Cruz and Trump were pitted against each other in the GOP primary for president. During the race, Trump suggested during the 2016 presidential election that he had “dirt” on Cruz’s wife and that Cruz’s father was connected to the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Cruz condemned Trump’s statements at the time as “classless,” calling him a “coward.” Cruz later angered many Trump supporters by telling attendees at the national GOP convention to “vote your conscience” rather than explicitly endorsing Trump.

Billy Joel confesses that he didn't start the fire, or put the ram in the rama lama ding dong

In a new Rolling Stone interview, Joel admits that while he didn't start the fire, he also didn't shoot the sheriff, or the deputy, and he also didn't put the ram in the rama lama ding dong.

"I basically wrote some songs, made some albums, went on tours, and that's it. All in all, it's been a shallow, empty existence."

When asked about his hit "We Didn't Start The Fire," he revealed its origins in a late-night session at the Record Plant in New York. "My bass player accidentally left a cigarette butt in an ashtray, without extinguishing it completely. The ashtray was full, and the other butts ignited, and the studio owner accused me of starting a fire. I told him "I didn't start the fire," and later I spent some time in quiet introspection, and a song was born."

When asked about accusations that the song was a modern-day ripoff of Bob Dylan's "laundry list" style of lyrics in songs such as "Subterranean Homesick Blues," Joel replied "I've heard of Bob Dylan, but I don't think I've heard that one."

Bob Dylan could not be reached for comment.

Conclusion of Mueller investigation could become beginning of fight over Rosenstein releasing report

If the negotiations over a voluntary interview fail, as now seems likely, Mueller may decide to subpoena the President. Giuliani has weighed in on the legality of Presidential subpoenas in the past. In 1997, a unanimous Supreme Court ruled that President Clinton was legally obligated to submit to a deposition in Paula Jones’s sexual-harassment case against him. As the special prosecutor Kenneth Starr’s investigation of Clinton intensified, the following year, Charlie Rose put the question to Giuliani in an interview: Would the President have to obey a grand-jury subpoena for his testimony? “He’s gotta do it. He doesn’t have a choice,” Giuliani responded. “Under the criminal law, everyone should be treated the same.” He added, “As far as the criminal law is concerned, the President is a citizen.”

Then as now, Giuliani’s answer reflected the conventional wisdom. The courts had determined that a President could be required to testify in civil cases such as the Jones case and would likely come to the same conclusion about criminal investigations, which are generally viewed as having greater societal import. But after Giuliani became Trump’s lawyer he began arguing that the pressing duties of the Presidency rendered him immune from a subpoena. When journalists confronted Giuliani with his statement from 1998, he didn’t say that he had changed his mind or that his earlier position was incorrect. Instead, he claimed that his statements were about documents rather than Presidential testimony, despite clear video evidence to the contrary.

Even if the question of Presidential testimony is resolved, Giuliani’s attacks on the investigation are likely to continue. Mueller will file a concluding report with Rod Rosenstein, the Deputy Attorney General, at the end of the investigation, and, in theory, Rosenstein has the option of releasing the report to Congress and to the public. But Giuliani pointed out a little-known aspect of the agreement that Trump’s original legal team struck with Mueller: the White House reserved the right to object to the public disclosure of information that might be covered by executive privilege. I asked Giuliani if he thought the White House would raise objections. “I’m sure we will,” he said, adding that the President would make the final call. In other words, the conclusion of the special counsel’s investigation could be the beginning of a contentious fight over whether Rosenstein is allowed to release a complete version of Mueller’s report.

Giuliani’s team is also preëmptively preparing a report to be released at the same time as Mueller’s, to refute its expected findings. Giuliani said that this “counter-report” is already forty-five pages and will likely grow, adding, “It needs a five-page summary—for me.”

Irish activists plan for protests...including the Baby Trump Blimp...during Trump's November visit

Baby Trump balloon set to join protests in Ireland for US president's visit
'There’s going to be a massive show of resistance - it would be an honour for the Trump baby to be part of it'

A giant balloon depicting Donald Trump as an angry baby is set to head over to Ireland to join protests planned for the US president’s in November.

The White House confirmed Mr Trump’s visit on Friday, triggering preparations by Irish activists for “large scale public demonstrations” against the divisive figure.

British campaigners behind the baby balloon protest said the Irish trip was “an excellent opportunity” to troll Mr Trump again.

“We’d love to take the Trump baby over to Ireland for the president’s visit,” Kevin Smith, one of the organisers, told The Independent.

Richard Trumka, the head of the AFL-CIO, represented his union poorly on television this weekend. Some of the things he said were so againt the working men and women of our country, and the success of the U.S. itself, that it is easy to see why unions are doing so poorly. A Dem!

Happy Labor Day! Our country is doing better than ever before with unemployment setting record lows. The U.S. has tremendous upside potential as we go about fixing some of the worst Trade Deals ever made by any country in the world. Big progress being made!

Trump refers to 9/11 as "a tiny period of time with a bullhorn"

TRUMP: I – look, right now, people are focused on the midterms. I don’t think they’re thinking about a speaker because it’s really going to be depending on the midterms. I hope that we’re going to be in a position where we have to worry about a speaker.

I think we’re going to do really well in the Senate, and I think we’re going to do, frankly, well in the House, because in the history of our country, we’ve never had a better economy.

BLOOMBERG: How many are you going to win by? How many will Republicans win by?

TRUMP: Well, I don’t want to – I don’t want to predict because then if I – if I’m wrong, you’re going to say, “Oh, he’s devastated” – you’re going to say, “He’s devastated that they didn’t win.”

So I don’t want to do that, but I think we’re going to do well. Now I’m betting against history because if you look at history, like literally, over 150 years, for whatever reason, when you have the president, that party doesn’t do very well in the midterms. I don’t know why.

The advantage we have is – I am actually a very popular president, which people don’t like to say, you know. In fact, I guess the Republican poll came out, there’s one at 92 and one at 93 and one at 90, and they’re the highest numbers that have ever been, with the exception of a tiny period of time with a bullhorn.

But that period lasted for about a week.

"I think there are a handful of Democrats who will vote for Kavanaugh, maybe more," Graham added.

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is likely to get the votes he needs for confirmation as long as he does as expected at Tuesday’s Senate Judiciary hearing, Sen. Lindsey Graham told Chris Wallace on Sunday morning on “Fox News Sunday.”

“If he does well at the hearing, I believe he’ll get 55 or higher,” the South Carolina Republican said, referencing the minimum, 50 votes, that would be needed for Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

“I think there are a handful of Democrats who will vote for Kavanaugh, maybe more,” Graham added.

Graham is one of 47 Republicans who have either openly voiced their support for Kavanaugh’s confirmation or indicated that they are likely to support it. Forty-one senators — all Democrats — have announced their opposition to his confirmation, according to recent numbers.
