I would have done even better in the election, if that is possible, if the winner was based on popular vote - but would campaign differently

Bill Maher: Trump picked Carson as Housing Secretary because he lives in a house

Bill Maher hasn’t said a whole lot about President-elect Donald Trump since his stunning election victory, but that changed this week during an interview with Attn: where he talked about his personal horror at Trump’s cabinet picks.

“The appointments are from opposite land,” he said. “For education, somebody who doesn’t believe in public education. Ben Carson, for example, surgeon general, maybe because he was a surgeon. No, housing. Because what? He lives in a house? He’s just f*cking with people. Same thing with Romney. Just wanted to f*ck with him, just wants to f*ck with us.”

Maher also talked about how Trump’s authoritarian temperament and his lack of interest in following governing norms makes him uniquely dangerous when it comes to abusing power.

“It was funny before and now he’s a man with power, so all I could think is if he did that when he didn’t have power, what’s he going to do now that he has the FBI?” he asked. “I mean, George Bush hated me and I didn’t like him, but no matter how bad they were — all the Republicans — it was like a glass bottom boat. I’m looking at those sharks, but they can’t really get me. And now, I feel like the shark can get me or anybody.”

Trump's broken promise is a death sentence to thousands of his voters

Trump’s broken promise is a death sentence to thousands of his voters

Back when the president's health reform plan first passed, Republicans and their media echoes warned loudly about mythical "death panels" embedded in his legislation. Now, the voters who believed that nonsense are about to meet the real death panel -- led by Speaker Paul Ryan, Senate leader Mitch McConnell, and Rep. Tom Price, the Georgia Republican slated to head the Department of Health and Human Services.

Despite his promise to protect Social Security and Medicare - and his vow to replace the Affordable Care Act with "something much better" - Trump's cabinet appointees and his allies in Congress plan ruinous changes to those programs. And that will mean ruin, and in thousands of cases death, for the mostly white and working class people who depend so heavily on them.

Unless the Republicans come up with a plausible bill to replace Obamacare, which has eluded them since 2009, millions of their constituents will lose the health insurance they have only recently gained - and yes, thousands of those people will die next year.

That isn't supposed to be what happens under President Trump, who declared in many interviews and debates his determination to provide better and cheaper health insurance "for everybody, let it be for everybody." But by appointing a far-right ideologue like Price to run health policy, Trump effectively violated that promise before even taking his oath of office. Working with Ryan and the Republican majority in both houses of Congress, Price means to destroy Obamacare, slash Medicare, and decimate Medicaid.

Trump lies again in tweet celebrating "historic" Electoral College victory

Trump lies again in tweet celebrating ‘historic’ Electoral College victory

http://www.rawstory.com/2016/12/trump-lies-again-in-tweet-celebrating-historic-electoral-college-victory/

TheHill.com pointed out that when Trump wrote, “We did it! Thank you to all of my great supporters, we just officially won the election (despite all of the distorted and inaccurate media)” on Monday night, he is once again spreading disinformation about himself and his campaign.

“Though Trump bragged of historic margins, he trails Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by 2.8 million votes in the popular vote tally and The New York Times notes there have been 45 presidential elections in which the winning candidate won a larger share of the Electoral College vote,” wrote The Hill’s Jessie Hellmann.

While reputable media outlets struggle to fact-check the daily tsunami of untruths from Trump and his team, his supporters appear to be eager to accept anything he says, regardless of its relationship to verifiable fact.

Although Trump lost the popular vote by a count of nearly 3 million, the majority of his followers believe he won it handily, yet another example of the “post-truth” ideological world that Trump and his supporters are said by some to inhabit.

China Global Times: Trump "not behaving as a president, bears no sense of how to lead a superpower"

Donald Trump appears to have not a clue how to lead a superpower.

That was the conclusion of China’s Global Times newspaper on Monday morning as the country’s media weighed in on the president-elect’s latest social media assaults on Beijing.

“Trump is not behaving as a president who will become master of the White House in a month,” the Communist party controlled newspaper wrote in an editorial. “He bears no sense of how to lead a superpower.”

The article came after the US president-elect again used Twitter, which has been blocked in China since 2009, to berate the leaders of the world’s second largest economy.

WASHINGTON ― A majority of American voters favor delaying the Electoral College vote scheduled for Monday until electors can be fully briefed on Russian interference in the election, according to a new poll conducted by YouGov.

The survey, sponsored by the progressive advocacy group Avaaz, found 52 percent of people supportive of stalling the vote.

A surprisingly high number of people ― 46 percent ― were also willing to support so-called “faithless electors,” the name given to members of the Electoral College who spurn the vote of their home state and vote for a different candidate instead.

President-elect Donald Trump’s opponents have been pressuring electors to break with their state’s voters, and a law firm has even offered pro bono, confidential legal advice to any elector curious about his or her options. Avaaz has collected thousands of signatures on a petition calling for the vote to be delayed.
