Miller floated plan to embed ICE agents in refugee agency

Miller floated plan to embed ICE agents in refugee agency

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/475572-stephen-miller-floated-plan-to-embed-ice-agents-in-refugee-agency

The White House this month tried to plant immigration enforcement officials in the refugee agency that oversees unaccompanied migrant children, according to The Washington Post.

The plan, which was crafted by Stephen Miller, President Trump’s top immigration adviser who has advocated for some of the White House’s most hardline policies, is part of an ongoing effort to obtain information from the children’s parents and relatives to target them for deportation, six current and former administration officials told The Post.

Senior officials at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) ultimately rejected the attempt but did allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to collect fingerprints and other biometric information from parents trying to collect their children at government shelters, the newspaper reported. If the adults were determined to be ineligible to take custody of the children, the agents could then use the information they gathered to target them for arrest and deportation.

The Post reports the arrangement appeared to violate laws that prevent the use of refugee programs for deportation enforcement, but Trump administration officials maintain that adults who are denied custody of their children lose their status as “potential sponsors” and are eligible for arrest.

Oh, Trump is NOT GOING TO LIKE his placement in Time's "Most Influential Leaders of 2019" list.

You have to go to the link for the full effect, but Nancy Pelosi has top billing, her photo is larger, his is much smaller (even though they look the same on this page, they are not), her name is in a LARGE font, his name in a font about 1/4 the size.

Freshly-minted Republican Jeff Van Drew backpedals his "undying" support for Trump. #WompWomp

Making the party switch official on Thursday, Van Drew appeared alongside the president in the Oval Office. Trump officially endorsed Van Drew for his re-election and celebrated having a turncoat.

Van Drew, in response, made a staggeringly obsequious gesture to the president.

“You have my undying support, always,” Van Drew told Trump.

Katherine Faulders of ABC News later asked Van Drew about his pledge of “undying” support for Trump, and the New Jersey Congressman tried to deny it.

“I don’t know if I said… did I say ‘undying’?” he told her. “I don’t think it was ‘undying.’ I usually don’t speak that way. I said, I think, ‘You have my support.’ And he does.”

However, he did clearly say “undying” to the president. It was on tape.

Trump vows to never read that Billy Graham magazine again, bold statement from one who doesn't read

And apparently, the abbreviation for "Christianity Today" is "ET."

A far left magazine, or very “progressive,” as some would call it, which has been doing poorly and hasn’t been involved with the Billy Graham family for many years, Christianity Today, knows nothing about reading a perfect transcript of a routine phone call and would rather.....

Trump "shellshocked" after impeachment, because advisers were telling him it wasn't going to happen

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/19/us/politics/trump-reacts-to-impeachment.html

https://www.rawstory.com/2019/12/trumps-advisers-repeatedly-assured-him-for-weeks-nancy-pelosi-wouldnt-have-the-votes-for-impeachment-report/

On Thursday, The New York Times published an analysis of President Donald Trump’s political position in the wake of being impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

One of the key takeaways, according to reporters Peter Baker, Maggie Haberman, Jeremy Peters, and Elaina Plott, is that until the final hours, Trump didn’t really believe he was going to be impeached — because his advisers had been telling him as much.

“For Mr. Trump, the day after found him still a little shellshocked, according to people close to him,” stated the report. “Despite the clear momentum behind impeachment among Democrats in recent weeks, some of Mr. Trump’s advisers tried to convince him — and themselves — that Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not have the votes and might not even bring the articles of impeachment to the floor, despite warnings from the White House director of legislative affairs, Eric Ueland, that the votes were there.”

Per the Times, Trump’s campaign is doing its utmost to capitalize off of the impeachment, with his campaign manager Brad Parscale branding Democrats “traitors” in a fundraising blast and proclaiming, “Let’s make sure they know that we will NEVER FORGET.” But some Republicans are doubtful Trump can politically benefit.

Watching Lawrence O'Donnell. Chuck Schumer is going to wipe the smirk off of McConnell's face.

He's speaking with Lawrence Tribe. The first 15 minutes of the show...and counting...consists of the game plan Schumer has to force votes on the Senate floor for witnesses and an ACTUAL TRIAL, not a Mitch McConnell complete exoneration victory lap.

McConnell's a smug and devious manipulator, and while I don't often see Schumer given credit for being "forceful," make no mistake...he is not planning to take McConnell's bullshit laying down.

This will be interesting.
