Planned Parenthood sues over Bobby Jindal's plan to strip Medicaid funding

Source: aljazeera

“In recent weeks, it has been shocking to see reports of the alleged activities taking place at Planned Parenthood facilities across the country,” said Jindal in a statement. “Planned Parenthood does not represent the values of the people of Louisiana and shows a fundamental disrespect for human life. It has become clear that this is not an organization that is worthy of receiving public assistance from the state,” he added. Louisiana has also opened an investigation into Planned Parenthood over the issue.

But in a lawsuit filed Tuesday, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast says termination of its Medicaid provider agreements will limit health services for poor people. The lawsuit says the Jindal administration is violating federal law and unconstitutionally penalizing patients for their association with Planned Parenthood.

The Medicaid payments are set to end Sept. 2 unless Planned Parenthood gets the injunction it's seeking.

Planned Parenthood says that if the court does not step in, more than 5,200 patients could lose access to their health care provider. Nearly 1 in 5 women in Louisiana are uninsured, according to a Gallup-Healthways' survey.

Walker and the Koch Brothers are walking hand and hand to the Whitehouse!

Walker has won race after race, even a recall, Whom has paid Millions to keep Walker Trotting on? Well that is a long Subject about ever move being dictated by others. The Idea of Privatize and Sell Off anything to balance the budget. Blame the deficit on the recession is really a nifty idea but make sure you forget how guys like walker under the republican administration caused the astronomical clusterfuck.

Scott Walker Wins Koch Straw Poll, $900 Million!
The billionaire industrialist Koch brothers, two of the richest people on the planet, have spent their fortune bankrolling an impressive right-wing infrastructure of think tanks, foundations, advocacy groups political issue ad groups and "scholars."
In recent years, David and Charles have developed a network of funders that has poured money into political electioneering, spending an estimated $400 million in 2012, pledging $900 million in 2016--on par with the amount budgeted by the political parties says the New York Times. They funnel this money through nonprofit "issue ad" groups, such as David Koch's Americans for Prosperity, which can launch multimillion-dollar attack ads on candidates during an election cycle without having to fully disclose exactly who they are or even what their true agenda is. Because they are organized as nonprofits and not campaign committees how much they actually give and spend in any particular campaign may never be known and the Kochs like it that way.

Scott Walker's plan to sell heating plants will cost taxpayers

A 2006 report by American Appraisal Associates found that the 32 power plants assessed at that time were worth $270 million at fair market value.
“Fair market value, as stated above, is not intended to represent the amount that might be realized from piecemeal disposition of the property in the open market,” the report cautions.
Since that appraisal, the state has spent $150 million to convert the UW’s Charter Street plant — assessed in the 2006 appraisal at $67 million — from coal to natural gas in response to a Sierra Club lawsuit. And last year the state Building Commission approved $9 million for upgrades to the state's power plants, which included $7 million for a natural gas conversion at the Waupun Correctional Institution plant.
But Carstensen says those improvements don’t necessarily mean that the costs would be offset in a sales price.

The budget 'tool' Gov. Scott Walker should not use

He now confronts a dilemma. His "tools" of income and property tax cuts have not "repaired" the budget. As he pursues the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, the danger is that he will respond with another "tool": selling off the public domain by renewing his attempts to sell state power plants and prime public land in Madison in no-bid contracts.
These privatization sell-offs will raise short-term revenue allowing the governor to take a victory lap on fiscal rectitude just in time for the 2016 GOP presidential primaries. But this will be by selling off Wisconsin's "family silver" — land, power plants and other basic infrastructure that are supposed to benefit taxpayers.

Scott Walker's Record on Privatization

From educating our children to incarcerating criminals and everything in between Gov. Scott Walker is willing to outsource public functions to private contractors. That his dogmatic dedication to privatization has often left workers losing wages and benefits while taxpayers pay more for the same or reduced services and get less accountability matter little.
