So how do you feel about UPS as a company, and why?

I did a search and only saw a couple of threads about UPS, and it seemed fairly negative. But why? Well, the reason I ask is because I just got hired as a seasonal driver (pay starts at $18.75/hr) until January 15th or so.

If I'm asked to stay on, I can join the union (Teamsters) after like 60 days. They provide top pay in three years, plenty of overtime, great pensions, and amazing free healthcare (apparently totally free, but that I can't confirm). So why some hate? They pay their employees very well and have great benefits. Thoughts?

Health care should be completely free or no more than $20 a month for incomes under 50k/year

Who agrees with me? The rich should just pay more. It is not fair that I have to pay $307 a month for basic bronze healthcare, which is more than a basic car payment. I can't afford my bills anymore. I used to hate people who go off the books to get free benefits, but now I understand why they do it.

I regret signing up. I should have just taken the fine. Sorry to sound like I'm wining, but with rent and everything it hurts.

When will texting become acceptable professionally?

A business just called me and left a voicemail. Which has got me thinking. How long do you think it will be before businesses (such as doctor's appointments, credit card companies, etc.) start texting instead of calling? Some of you might say never, but keep in mind all of the things in the past that were once looked at as unfavorable. I say 15 years.

Utah trial centers on FBI’s Oklahoma City bombing records

Nearly two decades after the Oklahoma City bombing, a Utah attorney who is fighting to obtain FBI records related to the attack will have his day in court.

On Monday, a three-day trial is scheduled to begin in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City on a lawsuit by lawyer Jesse Trentadue. He filed a request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) seeking documents and videotapes from the bombing investigation — including one tape he believes shows two men exiting a Ryder truck parked in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building and the detonation of explosives in the vehicle.

The suit claims the FBI failed to conduct a search reasonably calculated to locate all records in the agency’s possession. Trentadue is asking for an order allowing him to search for videotapes and documents at FBI locations, including field offices in Oklahoma City and Los Angeles, and requiring the agency to produce the records he requested.

The FBI counters it has satisfied its obligation to search for the records and points out the agency has released 200 pages of documents and 30 tapes to Trentadue. The FBI also says if the trial judge does conclude its searches were inadequate, he should order the agency to conduct one or more additional searches rather than let Trentadue do it.

IMO, out of all the conspiracies in the last 2 years, this is the one most likely to have been a cover-up, along with TWA Flight 800.

Actors that look alike

I just saw a trailer for Expendables III, and was wondering why George Clooney would want to be in a movie like this. Turns out Antonio Banderas now looks like he could be his twin.

Samuel L. Jackson looks so much like Laurence Fishburne, that when I first watched the original Matrix, I went the entire movie thinking it was him. I know this past February he blasted a news reporter for confusing them, but he really should have let it go, because they look exactly alike.

Agree, disagree? Any others?

Could the bombing of the WTC in 1993 perhaps have weakened the structure of the buildings?

First off, lemme state that I don't believe it was an "inside job" or anything like that. I was thinking of the 1993 bombing when I though of this: What if the buildings structure was unknowingly damaged so bad in 1993 that that's what caused the buildings to fall when the planes hit them in 2001?

I just did a search and it came up completely empty. Am I the first one to have though of this? What does everyone think?
