GOP election win: A simple message for a simple people

Hello DU. I'm back.

This is my first OP in a loooong time. I was active during the GW Bush regime, here, on Truthout, MoveOn, etc. I even started my own web site ("blogs" didn't exist back then) so I could write about Bush/Cheney, the PNAC, & do my best to expose their crimes.

When Obama got elected it seemed like America (or the majority of it) had come to its senses & realized it's not a good idea to have morans & criminals running the country. I have enjoyed 6 years of relative happiness, becoming reacquainted with something called "free time" instead of spending most every evening & weekend on the computer, tracking the actions of a corrupt government & writing about their evil deeds.

Then Tuesday happened.

Shit. I mean really, shit. Shit f$%king shit.

So, it's time to get back to the computer. Time to watch these bastards like a hawk. Time to expose every damn thing they do that hurts America, every single lie, & rain as much hellfire as I can down upon them when they do.

They'll take this country when they pry it from my cold dead f$%king hands.

I'm pissed at the Dems for the way they campaigned. There was so much good to talk about (economy, jobs, deficit, etc), but they rarely did. The Repubs spent six years hate-mongering Obama, then made the election all about Obama. And the Dems allowed it to happen, instead of making the election about Dem ISSUES & POLICIES, which the American people overwhelmingly support.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Dem politicians, I'd like to spank you & rub your noses in your campaigns ... because they were shit. Don't you EVER do that again. Those of you who ran away from President Obama like cockroaches from the light, who allowed the REPUBLICANS to define the terms of the election instead of YOU, you betrayed me & everyone else who voted for our President ... F$%k you. No ... F$%K YOU!!!

And now you see the result. I'm left to once again clean up the stinking mess you made on the floor. I hope you realize this is about a lot more than just stains on the carpet & a foul odor, this is about OUR COUNTRY! This is about OUR FUTURE! This is about the triumph of science over stupidity, compassion over hate, knowledge over ignorance, & the voice of "We the People" over the donations of the wealthy 1%.

If these bastards get their way & continue ignoring climate change they just might take our planet to the point of no return ... runaway, catastrophic, global warming ... killing damn near everything on it in the process.

In other words ... THIS F$%KING MATTERS!!!

I'll say that again in case you missed it the first time: THIS F$%KING MATTERS!!!

Read that as many times as required for it to sink in.

This election shows exactly why, after decades of being a proudly registered Democrat, when I moved to a new state a couple years ago I registered as an Independent. I just didn't feel like you Dem politicians were being effective as a party, not something I was proud to be a part of. And now ... well ... do you think I'm eager to rush out & change my registration back to Dem? No, don't think so.

For the love of god Dems PLEASE learn from this election & do a HELL of a lot better in 2016. I know you have it in you somewhere, just find it & bring it out. It might require a change in leadership, I don't know, but I do know it damn sure requires a change in campaign strategy. Figure it out & give me a reason, after the 2016 election, to proudly & enthusiastically change my registration back to Democratic. Please, do that for me. Do it for America.

Whew. I feel better getting all that off my chest. And now, the original reason I started this post, this article about the election results. I think this statement about the GOPs win sums it up well:

“It was a simple message for a simple people — screw Obama,” Maher said. “And it worked. Because none of the Democrats came out for Obama.”
