Adam DiSabato, a former captain of Ohio State Universitys wrestling team, testified on Wednesday that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) had begged him in 2018 to repudiate allegations that the congressman was aware of the former wrestling team doctors sexual abuse of the student wrestlers.
During a hearing on a bill in Ohios general assembly that would allow Dr. Richard Strauss victims to sue OSU, DiSabato recalled that Jordan, who served as the teams assistant coach from 1987 to 1995, kept calling him in July 2018 after DiSabatos brother, Michael, and several other former wrestlers publicly accused Jordan of ignoring Strauss abuse.
Jim Jordan called me crying, groveling
begging me to go against my brother.
Thats the kind of cover-up thats going on there, DiSabato told Ohio lawmakers, according to Cleveland.com.
Ian Fury, Jordans communications director, told TPM in an emailed statement that the Republican lawmaker never saw or heard of any abuse, and if he had he would have dealt with it.

Attorney General Bill Barr will testify before the House Judiciary Committee on March 31, the committee announced Wednesday.
The announcement of Barrs impending testimony came as the Attorney General faces serious criticism regarding the Justice Departments watered down sentencing recommendations for Trump confidante Roger Stone
A letter to Barr signed by Democrats on the Committee notified him that he would be asked to answer questions about the misuse of our criminal justice system for political purposes. The letter stated it was confirming Barrs agreement to testify.
Separately, it noted Barrs pattern of conduct in legal matters relating to the President that raises significant concerns for this Committee.
In addition to concerns about Stones sentencing, committee Democrats letter informed Barr that they intended to ask him about the abrupt removal of U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jessie Liu from her post on Jan. 30.

Susan Collins can't name a single 'lesson' Trump learned from impeachment
By Dan Desai Martin -February 12, 2020 11:08 AM
Since Collins voted to acquit Donald Trump, he has retaliated against witnesses and interfered in a Department of Justice case against his former campaign adviser.
Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said Donald Trump learned his lesson from impeachment. But when confronted on Wednesday morning, Collins couldn't list a single lesson Trump learned.
CNN's Manu Raju asked Collins if there were any lessons Trump learned from impeachment, in light of Trump's recent actions. Collins would not or could not identify any lessons, responding instead with a lengthy defense of her votes to acquit Trump.
"I've made very clear that I don't think anyone should be retaliated against," Collins said. "I voted to acquit the president... because his conduct, while wrong, did not meet the high bar established by the Constitution" for removal.
Raju again asked, "Do you think he learned any lessons?"
Collins again refused to answer the question.

Trump admits Barr intervened to try to lessen former adviser's sentence
By Emily Singer -February 12, 2020 9:18 AM
Trump confirmed the U.S. attorney general is acting as his fixer, rather than a fair and independent law enforcement officer for the country.
Donald Trump on Wednesday erased any doubt that the Department of Justice's abrupt decision to recommend a lighter sentence for former Trump campaign adviser and convicted felon Roger Stone against the wishes of career prosecutors who tried the case.
"Congratulations to Attorney General Bill Barr for taking charge of a case that was totally out of control and perhaps should not have even been brought," Trump tweeted Wednesday morning. "Evidence now clearly shows that the Mueller Scam was improperly brought & tainted. Even Bob Mueller lied to Congress!"
The decision to recommend a lighter sentence for Stone a longtime Trump confidante led the four prosecutors who were on the case to resign in protest.
Those prosecutors recommended Stone receive up to nine years in prison for the seven counts of witness tampering, lying to Congress, and obstruction of justice he was convicted of last year. But Trump later tweeted that the sentence recommendation was "unfair," and hours later the DOJ announced they would recommend a lighter sentence.

Let's think about this for one moment..........................
In the United States Constitution, juries are mentioned in Article Three and the Fifth, the Sixth, and the Seventh Amendments.
Again saying fuck you to the Constitution........................
And the russian troll running around in the white house with his AG lackey from the federalist society are basically saying fuck you to the citizens that convicted this other treasonous asshole on all the counts he was charged with and the evidence ...................
And my Progressive Magazine had an article that we / I should be civil..............................fuck that ..........................

President Donald Trump apparently confirmed that Attorney General William Barr was interfering in the prosecutions of his friends caught up in the Russia probe and other social media users were shocked by his bravado.
Four prosecutors abruptly resigned from Roger Stones case Tuesday after Barr appeared to intervene and reject their sentencing recommendation, and Trump removed all doubt that his attorney general was involved in a Wednesday morning tweet.
Congratulations to Attorney General Bill Barr for taking charge of a case that was totally out of control and perhaps should not have even been brought, Trump tweeted. Evidence now clearly shows that the Mueller Scam was improperly brought & tainted. Even Bob Mueller lied to Congress!

How the GOP-controlled Senate is putting pensions of 1.3 million Americans at risk

Glen Heck spent 28 years sweating in a Campti, Louisiana, paper mill that he likes to say was hotter than nine kinds of hell.
But now, Hecks sacrifice may have been for nothing because his multiemployer pension plan is one of about 150 nationwide set to go broke. If that happens, the 78-year-old Heck will have to find a cheaper, lower-quality health plan and keep the beef herd hes itching to sell.
The Democratic-controlled House passedwith bipartisan supporta commonsense plan to save Hecks pension and those of another 1.3 million workers, retirees, and widows. But Republican leaders in the Senate refuse to consider it.
In the meantime, the futures of workers and retirees like Heck hang in the balance. Many face retirement with fear instead of anticipation.
Multiemployer pension plans like Hecks include workers from two or more companies in industries such as transportation, entertainment, construction and paper. Employers make contributions for workers as part of their compensation. Heck and others often give up wage increases or other benefits to fund those plans.

GOP Rep. And Trump Defender During Impeachment May Be Next DNI

Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT), a member of the House Intel Committee who ardently defended President Donald Trump during the impeachment inquiry, is getting a serious look to be the next director of national intelligence.
According to the New York Times, acting DNI Joseph Maguire is reaching the end of his legal term in an acting capacity; he must step down by March 11.
Trumps National Security Adviser, Robert OBrien, is reportedly one of Stewarts most vocal advocates for the job, and Stewart enjoys support from congressional Republicans.
However, Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) was lukewarm towards Trumps last outwardly partisan pick Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX) and may push for a candidate who would enjoy bipartisan support, though Senate Republicans could get the confirmation done alone.
Ratcliffe is the last candidate Trump nominated for the role since the departure of Dan Coats, a move which ended in embarrassment when Ratcliffe withdrew after embellishing his resume.

Justice Department's credibility is on 'life support' as Bill Barr goes 'rogue': Ex-prosecutor
Published 1 hour ago on February 11, 2020
By Matthew Chapman
On Tuesday, former federal prosecutor Harry Litman wrote a blistering op-ed that excoriated Attorney General William Barr for his Justice Departments apparent political abuses of power.
The withdrawal of all four career prosecutors handling the case against Roger Stone, in the wake of the Justice Departments sentencing shift, underscores that Attorney General William P. Barrs department has effectively gone rogue, wrote Litman. Resignation is the strongest possible protest that prosecutors can employ, within professional bounds, against improper conduct by their leadership. The presidents tweet and the departments reduction of Stones sentencing were utterly rank and improper. The action runs counter not only to standard practice but also to the standard that the Justice Department is supposed to embody: the administration of justice without fear or favor.
The DOJs decision to overrule those prosecutors sentencing recommendations for Stone, Litman wrote, is unprecedented.
Stone was convicted of serious crimes: lying to Congress and witness tampering, wrote Litman. His recommended sentence was by the book literally. Federal prosecutors go by a manual from the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines Commission that lays out appropriate sentences for specific offenses. The seven- to nine-year sentence that prosecutors had sought was precisely what equal justice mandated. Thats far from the miscarriage of justice that Trump called it in a tweet.

EJ Dionne nailed it tonight when he said ( I am, paraphrasing) when he said that when he was working in South America, this happens when a democracy leaves the country and turns into a fascist state........................
And now the question needs to be asked if the journalist and the voting public are going to hold 198 republican congressional members and 53 republican senators accountable....................
