Hitler-praising Candace Owens has finally been suspended from Twitter after she urged followers to defy Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-at-home orders – without mentioning any trip to Michigan to break the law and expose herself along with them.

According to Mediaite, this is a screen grab of the tweet that got Owens suspended.
Yet Owens, who lives in New York, said nothing about doing any of what she was asking others to do.
She is, however, very eager to play up her conservative victimhood, presumably from the safety of her home.
As Mediaite reported, she sent a statement to the far-right MAGA site, Gateway Pundit, whining that her comments were no different from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s call for a workers boycott and a protest. Apparently, Owens doesn’t know that a boycott in protest of reopen orders is legal and doesn’t promote the spread of a pandemic. As for the protest, AOC was saying that folks already out protesting the shutdowns should be over at the White House instead. Unlike Owens, AOC wasn’t urging anyone to leave the house and break a law to protest.
Oh, and unlike Owens, AOC went out in the rain to deliver food to people in her district.

After screwing up the U.S. pandemic response, Donald Trump is now working to prevent Americans from finding out just how bad it was. Yesterday, The Washington Post reported that the White House claimed it blocked Fauci from testifying at a House committee hearing investigating the coronavirus outbreak and response — because it would be “counterproductive” — while the Trump administration is engaged in its "whole-of-government response to COVID-19."
Sure it would be. Counterproductive to Trump’s attempts to shirk responsibility for his mishandling of the pandemic, they mean. In addition to blocking Fauci from the House (but making him available to the GOP-controlled Senate), Trump also just got rid of the HHS inspector general, Christi Grimm, in a late Friday night firing.
A stellar panel on AM Joy saw the obstruction efforts for what they are. Rep. Katie Porter highlighted how Trump is systematically blocking crucial information needed by the public.

The leader of the free world revealed how he has been spending his time as 65,000 Americans have died from COVID-19 and 30 million have filed for unemployment.
On Saturday, right-wing Twitter personality Jack Posobiec noted that President Donald Trump was retweeting comments from his Twitter posts.
“Remember, folks, the President watches this space closely,” Posobiec posted. “Make it count.”
Trump revealed that Posobiec was correct and he does watch the comments closely.

Copper market heading for 200,000-300,000 tonne surplus in 2020: Antofagasta chief

SANTIAGO (Reuters) - The global copper market is headed for a surplus of between 200,000-300,000 tonnes in 2020, the head of miner Antofagasta told Chilean media on Saturday, with operation halts at some mines offsetting depressed demand due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Iván Arriagada, chief executive of the Chilean copper miner, told the El Mercurio newspaper it was hard to make projections on the price of the red metal due to market volatility caused by the virus, which has impacted businesses worldwide.
“However, we believe that the copper market in year 2020 will have a surplus, which would be around 200,000 to 300,000 tonnes,” Arriagada said.
Against the backdrop of weak global demand, he said this would be reflected in the price of copper.

Conservative groups advising White House push fast reopening, not testing

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Conservative groups advising the White House have issued an array of coronavirus economic reopening plans with a common theme - Americans should go back to work immediately to halt the economic and societal damage from prolonged lockdowns.
The Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus has coalesced in recent days around the same message - the need to reopen quickly. The White House did not renew federal guidelines on social distancing that expired April 30, and President Donald Trump is expected to go to Arizona next week, after a month without travel.
Just as the virus has infected the states unevenly, some state and local governments are opening malls, movie theaters and hairdressers while others remain in the stay-at-home posture that at one point kept most of America’s 320 million people indoors.
Both the White House and the groups advising it are missing detailed, centralized plans for virus testing and containment, which many health officials, historians, and economists say are needed to avoid a new surge of infections and longer-term economic damage.

US citizens married to immigrants sue after being denied relief

Lawyers say the government has denied coronavirus relief payments to U.S. citizens simply because they are married to immigrants without social security numbers.
The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund has sued the federal government over its denial of coronavirus relief payments to U.S. citizens who are married to immigrants without social security numbers.
The lawsuit was filed in Maryland on Tuesday on behalf of six American citizens who were denied coronavirus relief checks because they filed and paid taxes with a spouse who has what's known as an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, or a way for immigrants without legal status to still pay federal taxes, which millions do.
MALDEF says the Treasury Department is violating Americans' First and Fifth Amendments by denying them payment simply because of who they are married to. Congress last month passed a $2.2 trillion package to help businesses, workers and a health care system staggered by the coronavirus. Many Americans had their share deposited into their accounts in the last couple of weeks.
It's estimated that 2 million U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents are married to people without social security numbers, although it's unclear how many of them file jointly with them.

HHS says 1,000 coronavirus tests will be available as senators return to DC

(CNN)Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar announced that 1,000 coronavirus tests will be available as US senators and staff return to Capitol Hill on Monday, after the Capitol physician earlier said testing for members would be limited.
"Good news: as the Senate reconvenes to do important work for the American people during this public health crisis, we have now received an initial request and are sending 3 Abbott point of care testing machines and 1,000 tests for their use," Azar tweeted Friday.
The Senate is set to return to work in Washington, DC, on Monday as their states continue to battle the coronavirus outbreak, creating anxiety and concern among members and staffers who feel their health is being put at risk. The number of coronavirus cases in the nation's capital are still high and health experts have urged workers there to remain at home.
Many senators fall into the high-risk category for age and pre-existing conditions that make them vulnerable to coronavirus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

Houston police helicopter crashes. 1 pilot dies, another in critical condition

(CNN)A Houston Police Department helicopter crashed early Saturday morning, killing one pilot and leaving the other in critical condition, authorities said.
Both pilots were flown to Memorial Hermann hospital for surgery and were in critical condition, Police Chief Art Acevedo said in a press briefing posted on Twitter.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner later said one of them died.
The pilots were responding to a call about a report of bodies in the bayou at about 2 a.m. local time, Acevedo said. The helicopter crashed into part of an apartment complex where no one lives, and no one else was injured.
Members of the Houston Fire Department cut the pilots out of the wreckage, he said.

Washington (CNN)As President Donald Trump deals with the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, he is without a key asset that has served many of his predecessors well during times of crisis: a bold, proactive national security adviser who can flag early threats and ensure the government is focused on combating them, current and former National Security Council officials tell CNN.
Robert O'Brien, Trump's fourth national security adviser, has been conspicuously out of sight in the administration's efforts to fight the coronavirus. Rather than helping to lead the response, he has delegated responsibilities to top aides and even bypassed coronavirus task force meetings.
In a rare, in-depth interview, O'Brien acknowledged to CNN that he's been out of sight from many public events at the White House, but he pushed back on any notion that he's absent, saying he meets with Trump almost daily to discuss the virus and is in constant contact with foreign allies to coordinate the response.
He did say the administration, as well as much of the world and scientific experts, took time to grasp the severity of the threat.
