Alejandra Juarez forced to leave husband and daughters in Florida after exhausting all options to stop her deportation
The 16-year-old American daughter of a US marine held back tears as long as she could before her family was split in two.
Her mother, Alejandra Juarez, was finally leaving for Mexico, rather than be sent off in handcuffs, after exhausting all options to stop her deportation.
“My mom is a good person. She’s not a criminal,” Pamela said, cursing at the immigration agency before her mother checked in on Friday for her flight from Orlando international airport.
Alejandra and Temo Juarez, a naturalized citizen who runs a roofing business, quietly raised Pamela and their nine-year-old daughter, Estela, in the central Florida town of Davenport until a 2013 traffic stop exposed her legal status.
Afterward, she regularly checked in with US Immigration and Customs officials, which typically went after higher-priority targets like people with criminal records.

The 'Accidental' Tweeter: Florida GOPer Baffled By Own QAnon Postings

We live in the age of the accidental conspiracy theory tweet.
The head of a Florida county GOP found himself in the hot seat last month for a July 4 tweet inviting voters to learn more about the “cryptic” QAnon conspiracy.
“You may have heard rumours about QAnon, also known as Q, who is a mysterious anonymous inside leaker of deep state activities and counter activities by President Trump,” the Hillsborough County GOP’s since-deleted tweet read.
It linked to an hour-long YouTube video called “Q Anon for Beginners.”
Hillsborough County GOP chairman Jim Waurishuk rushed to tamp down the ensuing media controversy, assuring publications that his group did not endorse the bizarre strings of hidden clues and associations that compose the fringe conspiracy.

Tom Garrett’s seat (R-VA), unearthed opponent Republican Denver Riggleman’s extensive interest in Bigfoot, tweeting censored pictures of the naked creature taken from Riggleman’s Instagram and calling him a “devotee of Bigfoot erotica.”

DC Metro considers giving separate transportation to white supremacists attending rally

Washington’s Metro rail system, the city’s subway line, is reportedly considering providing separate trains for those attending the white supremacist “Unite The Right” rally in Washington, D.C. next weekend, according to the Washington Post.
Metro board chairman Jack Evans, who is a city council member, said the move would be a preventive measure to avoid violence between the white supremacist rallygoers and counter protesters.
“We haven’t made any decisions about anything,” Evans said about conversations he has had with Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld and D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham. “We’re just trying to come up with potential solutions on how to keep everybody safe.”
But one of the plans Evans has suggested would explicitly protect white supremacists.

Manafort Tax Preparer Testifies On Denials About Foreign Bank Accounts

A tax preparer returned to the stand Friday morning in the trial of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort where he testified on multiple interactions he had with Manafort and his then-business partner Rick Gates in which they denied that they controlled or owned foreign bank accounts.
Prosecutor Uzo Asonye walked tax preparer Philip Ayliff through Manafort’s individual tax returns from 2010-2014, signed by Manafort, where the box reporting foreign bank accounts was checked no.
Manafort faces numerous charges of bank and tax fraud. He has pleaded not guilty. Gates, his former protege, has pleaded guilty, is cooperating with prosecutors, and is expected to testify against Manafort later in the trial.
Ayliff also testified on information his firm provided Gates to explain what sort of foreign accounts needed to be reported to the government.

Taking Notes From Papadopolous: Butina Bragged She Was A Spy When Drunk

Alleged Russian spy Mariia Butina talked openly about her contacts with Russian intelligence officials when she got drunk, CNN reported Thursday.
According to people who knew her at American University where she attended graduate school, on at least two occasions Butina bragged about her Russian government connections after she had imbibed and even said the Russian government was connected to her Moscow gun rights group. According to CNN, classmates were unnerved by her comments and reported her to law enforcement twice.
Other classmates told CNN that in classes she was a constant defender of Vladimir Putin and claimed that she was a middleman between President Trump’s campaign and the Russian government.
Butina’s drunken admissions parallel those of George Papadopolous, a former Trump campaign official who spilled secrets to Australia’s top diplomat about Russia having dirt on Hillary Clinton while inebriated at a wine bar in Britain. That drunk conversation was what launched the FBI’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Butina was arrested in July after the FBI raided her apartment and was charged with conspiracy and acting as an agent of Russia. She allegedly spent years attempting to infiltrate the National Rifle Association and fostering relationships with high-level conservatives.
She’s pled not guilty to the charges, which her lawyer says are completely unfounded.

Rosenstein: 'In Case You Haven't Noticed,' My Decisions Don't 'Please' Everyone

During a Chicago gathering of the American Bar Association Thursday, deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who did not once mention special counsel Robert Mueller or Republican efforts to impeach him, lamented to the crowd that his decisions don’t always please people, “in case you haven’t noticed.”
“President Trump selected a superb team of skilled and principled lawyers to lead the Department of Justice and our U.S. Attorney’s Offices,” Rosenstein said, according to Politico. “Our decisions do not please all the people all the time — in case you haven’t noticed.”
The moment of candidness was met with laughter, as President Donald Trump has made no secret of his interest in firing Rosenstein to end the Russia probe.
Those decisions “always reflect the care, caution and wisdom required by the law,” he continued. “That is what the President appointed us to do. It is what the Senate confirmed us to do. It is what the oath of office obligates us to do.”
According to Politico, Rosenstein shined in the audience of his peers and received a standing ovation that lasted longer than a minute — a far cry from his regularly chilly reception on Capitol Hill. The President, according to Vanity Fair, has told advisers in recent days that he will fire Rosenstein himself in a few weeks if the probe doesn’t wrap up soon.

The following is a response to a Politico op-ed by Supreme Court litigator Lisa Blatt, entitled “I’m a Liberal Feminist Lawyer. Here’s Why Democrats Should Support Judge Kavanaugh.”
Sometimes a superstar is just a superstar. And sometimes a superstar is a powerful Republican with the power to decide whether my clients will win or lose billions of dollars. That is the case with Judge Brett Kavanaugh. The Senate should confirm him.
I am a partner a law firm where “profits per partner measured out at almost $1.2 million in 2017.” Because I am a liberal Democrat and feminist, I expect my friends on the left will criticize me for speaking up for Kavanaugh. But my clients will all benefit from having smart, qualified and engaged judges on our highest court who feel like I did them a solid by trading on my liberal credentials in order to boost their chances of getting confirmed.
Those clients, by the way, include Philip Morris and PhRMA. I’m also “the legal mind behind the Redskins ‘Take Yo Panties Off’ trademark defense.”
What happened to Merrick Garland was a disgrace. His nomination was the Democratic equivalent of Kavanaugh’s. Well, I guess they’re kind of the same. Okay, really they are only equivalent if you completely ignore how they’ve behaved on the bench.

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) said Thursday he was tired of “dumbass” partisanship obstructing Trump nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.
He appeared to ignore the fact that Republicans had two years earlier blocked President Obama’s nominee, Judge Merrick Garland, in order to assure the next justice was conservative.
“I really want to compliment the Democrats who have stood up and are willing to stand up for Judge Kavanaugh because they realize we can’t keep going down this partisan, picky, stupid, dumbass road that has happened around here for so long,” Hatch said during a press conference Thursday.
