In Chicago if you do not remove the snow efficiently as a mayor or alderman

you get voted out. I wonder if Texans are going to turn on their governor in particular and the gop in general because of that debacle ? It has been steadily going towards blue each election cycle. Is it the event that will tip off the scales next election ?

Do the impeachment managers have time for rebuttal ?

They are very effectively making the case. If Trump lawyers who go next manage to murk the waters will the impeachment managers have time for rebuttal ? Will there be closing arguments like in a criminal trial ? How is it setup ?

Introducing a soon to be former stray cat to my house cat

So, the past few weeks a young stray cat has been getting closer and closer to us. We have been feeding her outside and she now jumps on our lap when we sit on the porch, loves to be patted.

We are planning to get her to the vet next week to get her shots and have her spayed. After this is done, we dont want to leave her outside in the cold recovering from the procedure so we will take her in. How would you introduce a new cat to your existing cat?

For what its worth, they have been looking at each other through the french doors and they seem more curious than aggressive towards each other.

on edit: here is a pic of her

The executive order by the president related to climate change and facilitating electric vehicles

was a stroke of genius. It arrived at exactly the right time. Not only is it necessary for existential reasons that we deal with climate change, it is also going to be a catalyst for car companies to fully commit.

We are seeing it right now with GM. The reason its a game changer is that even thought we had the technology and could scale it up, it, car makers were hesitant because they were not sure of both getting a market and having enough of one to justify big structural investments like charging stations all over the country.

The federal government declaring they are going to use electric vehicles changes all of that. The post office alone for example has a fleet of a 1/4 of a million trucks that are perfect for being electric. Their mail route is 50 miles or so and they come back to the warehouse every night (so they could be recharged easily).

I expect that the initiative will also include subsidies for car makers, tax incentives for people to buy such cars and ways to help build the infrastructure.

Ideally, President Biden will be able to build upon this EO to get actual legislation passed which strenghtens all of that.

Whose woods these are.

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

President Biden is very skilled.

He is several steps ahead of the republicans. He is phoning senators and reps and working behind the scenes to enact his agenda. Thats what skilled politicians do. Apparently he is working on Collins which I think is a good strategy with a 50/50 senate. As Jen Psaki said on Rachel tonight he is wielding the possibility of passing some of the legislation via reconciliation if needs be. Schumer , Biden and Pelosi are more than capable of outplaying the gop.

Bam !!!

McConnell is folding. He agreed to the rules.

January 26, 2021

Leader Schumer seems to have a plan regarding the passage of the rules of organization.

When Rachel asked him if McConnel could fillibuster the rules he said his caucus is united in not giving up to McConnel all the way to the most conservative members of the caucus. When she pressed he smiled and said stay tuned. He seem really confident. Thats a good sign.

on edit : as of 924pm mcconnel yielded and agreed to the rules.

interesting. 100 million vacinations first 100 days. at first they said it was too ambitious.

now that the Biden administration is running the show you start having people criticizing that for not being ambitious enough 🤯

its good to have a solid number as a target. If it can be more even better and im sure they will ramp up if they can but i find it ridiculous to start taking shots at Biden after 2 days on the job.

I know its released to the press pool every day. However, is there a link somewhere to access them ? I have not found it on whitehouse.gov so far. Anybody knows where to read them ?
