the DOJ release of that picture showing classified docs on the carpet

clearly indicates that they are committed to go forward and indict.

After that they cant possibly decide to not press charges and say there was not enough evidence.

If they were trying to avoid charging Trump, they would have stayed low key instead of releasing this explosive picture.

I am convinced Garland has already decided to charge Trump as soon as he has an airtight case.

Interesting how Trump's sycophants have switched from he is not guilty to there will be riots

If he is arrested. We have reached the point where even them are seeing that it is the way it’s going.

lawyers on DU . Did you ever need to get a clearance to defend a client ?

I am wondering how it works. If your client is accused of mishandling classified docs, do you need to have a clearance to handle things released to you as part of the Brady process ?
Similarly do judges and prosecutors need/have clearances ?

Are those types of cases delt with in special courts ?

This argument about having paid your loans and so should everybody else

is ridiculous. We are democrats, we aim at advancing towards a more progressive society where you don't forfeit your financial future to get an education.

Forgiving loans and ultimately addressing educational costs is the way to go.

When social security was enacted, it was to address the issue of retired elderly people ending up destitute and homeless.

People could have and some did say back then that they made do without it before so why should we pay for it ?

Luckily for us , it passed. I view student loans forgiveness the same way. I paid mine and I was able to do so. I do not resent that other people in less fortunate situations get their student loans reduced or forgiven. I welcome it .

next gop claim will be oh but he had declassified it all.

If that warrant and receipt shows the fbi retrieved some classified docs the gop will pivot and just say that it was declassified anyway .
Thus won't fly but it will keep the magats foaming at the mouth.

interesting information regarding how wallstreet sees the reduction inf. act

So, I am watching CNBC at market opening and they are interviewing the head of investing for citibank. He was asked specifically about his thoughts on the reduction inflation act and whether or not the corporate taxes in it were a concern.

He flat out said, it's not an issue and won't have any negative impact on companies, they are more concerned about other economic macro indicators. This is good, it means the GOP argument that's its killing businesses is bulshit.

Would a secret service agent be bound to report a crime if he/she witnessed one?

Are they considered law enforcement ? Are they bound to report a crime to the FBI if they witness one ?

Let's say for example seeing top secret documents stashed in a broom closet ?

is there a website that lists reputable solar companies

For a while now, I have wanted to get solar panels installed on my house. However, looking at it I found that there are a lot of companies out there, some of them advertising on facebook and the like looking like they are scams.

How do you separate the dishonest ones from reputable companies? Is there some kind of clearinghouse website for that?

Politics is the art of the possible.

This week was filled with legislative victories for president Biden and the party in general.

It culminates with the reconciliation bill.

Yet some on our side of the aisle are already denigrating it..
Did we get all we wanted ? not quite but what we are getting is pretty damm good. Another shot in the arm for the midterms.

It reduces the price of prescription drugs, funds the IRS to go after tax cheats, massively funds climate change measures, insures corporations pay a minimum tax ( that was tweaked but still there).

Those things alone are a huge deal. For example so many people can't afford prescription drugs right now.

Yes Sinema knocked one of the tax measures, Manchin made sure that some of the nearly 400 billions for climate change goes to the fossil industry . That's the price of getting all these other things I mentioned.

People who are in need of insulin for example will get a huge relief. Coupled with the long lasting effect of the ACA, it's moving in the right direction.
