Vandals posted a banner containing an anti-Jewish slur on a Holocaust memorial in front of a New Jersey shore town synagogue where several residents were recently accused of misrepresenting their incomes to improperly obtain public welfare benefits.
Photos posted online Sunday by the state chapter of the Anti-Defamation League show the covering on the memorial in Lakewood. A message on the covering included an ethnic slur for Jewish people and stated they "will not divide us," along with the name of a group supposedly responsible for the covering.
State authorities announced Sunday they were offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to conviction of those responsible.

My anger over the antisemitic hijacking of Franco fighters commemoration (Martin Sugarman)
Every year I attend the commemoration of the huge number of Jews who fought against Fascist Spain in the Spanish Civil War and especially those who went from UK and Israel (measured as per head of population, the Israeli group was the biggest of any of the 53 nations who sent volunteers).
I lay a beautiful Star of David poppy wreath and always get a huge warm welcome and round of applause. Many of the organisers are known to me and very friendly. Many guest speakers over the years are no friends of Israel but conventionally they never bring other political issues into the speeches, so as not to deviate from the meeting's aim, to only remember those who died in the Spanish Civil War, fighting fascism and some who today may be suffering in other anti-fascist struggles round the world; but that is as far as it goes.
This year for the first time since I have attended over the past 25 or so years, an ignorant and arrogant man called Tosh McDonald of the Aslef union gave a speech before the wreath laying - and he began by making comparisons of the Spanish Civil War with other struggles - usually not done - such as apartheid in South Africa, and ended with what he said was the essential one today, against the Israeli oppression of the Palestinians, etc. He went into the usual rant demonising Israel. Some applauded, a lot did not - a sign of displeasure.
I immediately stood up after he finished, with no microphone, in front of about 300 guests in the open air and stated loudly and clearly that I was leaving in protest and would not be laying my wreath for the Jewish veterans from the Jewish community, which I held up so all could see, as he had inappropriately politicised the event with other issues which many people have different views on. He had also inappropriately praised Jeremy Corbyn a propos nothing - again usually no politics are mentioned on these occasions. Some applauded me and some jeered, and I made a dramatic exit.

My Aunt Had a Dinner Party, and Then She Took Her Guests to Kill 180 Jews (Margit Batthyany-Thyssen)
One morning in April 2007 journalist Sacha Batthyany was approached by an elderly colleague at the Swiss daily where they both worked at the time. The colleague waved a newspaper clipping in front of him. It was an investigative report entitled, “The Hostess from Hell,” published by a German daily.
Glancing at the headline, Batthyany didn’t understand why he was being shown this article, but then he looked at the picture of the hostess and recognized it immediately. It was Margit, his father’s aunt —someone to whom the family demonstrated the utmost respect and also around whom they tended to tread carefully.
So he started to read the piece. In March 1945, it said, just before the end of World War II, Margit held a large party in the town of Rechnitz on the Austrian-Hungarian border to fete her Nazi friends. She, the daughter and heiress of European baron and tycoon Heinrich Thyssen, and her friends drank and danced the night away.
At the height of the evening, just for fun, 12 of the guests boarded trucks or walked to a nearby field, where 180 Jewish slave laborers who had been building fortifications were assembled. They had already been forced to dig a large pit, strip, and get down on their knees. The guests took turns shooting them to death before returning to the party. The organizer of this operation was Margit’s lover Hans Joachim Oldenberg. Margit’s husband, Count Ivan Batthyany, Sacha’s grandfather’s brother, was also at the party.

Teen Magazine Promotes Conspiracy Theory from Protocols of the Elders of Zion
Affinity Magazine is a publication written by and for teenagers. Its Editor-in-Chief, Evelyn Woodsen, is nineteen, and its Senior Editor Alex Brown is in high school.
Its website gets between 200,000 and 600,000 views per month, and it claims that it “serves a purpose of showcasing the voices of aspiring teen journalists.” The publication aims to “mix[] pop culture with social justice and politics….”
The young age of its writers and editors, however, does not excuse its promotion of an antisemitic conspiracy theory. In January, the magazine published an article titled, "Money and Israel Control the Media: Who Cares?" (January 8, 2017) Seventeen year-old author Zoya Wazir, relying on the antisemitic Rense website, wrote that:
Israel has political and economic ties to America of such necessity that they control the majority of the media. In fact, the big six corporations mentioned earlier all have Israeli ties and are headed by powerful Jewish families within the United States.
