Still In Wisconsin
Still In Wisconsin's JournalHow are the Republicans in the Wisconsin State Legislature going to address campus gun violence?
More effing GUNS obviously. Meet "campus carry"
http://www.nbc15.com/home/headlines/Wisconsin-Republicans-circulate-Campus-Carry-Act-332268622.html
Why is the answer ALWAYS more guns?
You all do know why the Republicans are looking so ridiculous in their huge debates don't you?
It's the sheer number of candidates on the stage. See, they are uncomfortable mass debating in front of the cameras.
Sorry, couldn't stop myself.
I propose we play a game of Scott Walker debate bingo.
In addition to the free space in the center we could have the following phrases... when Scott says one of these phrases you check off that square on your card:
unintimidated
hard working taxpayers
big and bold
big government
special interests
union bosses
right to work
Harley
Tonette
protesters
death threats
on day one
laser focus
repeal obamacare
ISIS
Hillary
Ronald Reagan
tested
it's working
jobs
didn't back down
gut like a deer
uniter
bald spot
On edit: how could I have forgotten "wreak havoc?" That might be his #1 response!
Feel free to add your own.
"Cutting Losses, Kochs to Sell Scott Walker" - Borowitz (New Yorker)
Excellent satire that probably has more basis in reality than Scutt would like to believe:
After their plan to sell him was announced, the Kochs immediately pulled Walker off the campaign trail for fear that he might say something that would further reduce his dwindling market value.

Paul Fanlund (Madison Cap Times "The incredible shrinking candidacy of Scott Walker"
It's an excellent and hope-affirming read. From the column:
For Walker, the hard truth is not only that he lacks the gravitas to back up his preferred tone of bravado, but also that he seems to lack the, um, intellectual agility needed to hold up under a presidential spotlight.
In mid-July, I interviewed Axelrod to preview his appearance for a charity fundraiser in Madison and asked him about Walker. His words then sound prescient: Presidential politics is like pole-vaulting, he said. Each time you clear a bar, it gets raised. The scrutiny becomes more intense as you go on. The glib answers you can get by with early dont work later. Your record is evaluated by a much harsher standard. Well see how he fares. Axelrod spoke a bit more colorfully at the Orpheum Theater fundraiser in describing the vulnerability of an underqualified politician seeking higher office: The higher a monkey climbs a pole, the more you can see his ass.
It is still early, but were seeing plenty.

Scott Walker just comes right out and says it: (paraphrasing) Almost all Muslims are radicals.
Repost because I put it in the wrong forum the first time...
From the Milwaukee Paper:
When speaking about radical Islamic terrorism at a campaign stop Friday, Gov. Scott Walker noted that there are a "handful of reasonable and moderate followers of Islam."
His comments at a VFW Post in Derry, New Hampshire, triggered a quick response from a Muslim advocacy organization, which called on him to apologize.

Floppity flippity flop goes Walker- this time on birthright citizenship.
The Wisconsin governor said in a CNBC interview Friday that he wouldn't take a stand "one way or the other" on the Constitutional guarantee of birthright citizenship. Walker's statement comes after he gave mixed answers on the issue earlier in the week, including saying that the U.S. should "absolutely" end birthright citizenship.
