Dear Americans, please educate yourself about history of unions in America...

But a reminder that the garment industry was a good deal this side of paradise occurred in 1911, when a fire broke out at the Triangle Shirtwaist Co. on New York's lower east side. About 150 employees almost all of them young women-perished when the fire swept through the upper floors of the loft building in which they worked. Many burned to death; others jumped and died. Why so large a casualty list? The safety exits on the burning floors had been securely locked, allegedly to prevent "loss of goods." New York and the country were aroused by the tragedy. A state factory investigation committee headed by Frances Perkins (she was to become Franklin Roosevelt's secretary of labor in 1933, the first woman cabinet member in history) paved the way for many long needed reforms in industrial safety and fire prevention measures.

Some people who got health insurance as a result of the Affordable Care Act may lose it. In which case, liberals like to say, some of Obamacare’s beneficiaries may die.

Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) brought a poster on the House floor: “The Republican Health Care Plan: Die Quickly.” In the summer of 2012, when Obamacare was threatened by a presidential election, writer Jonathan Alter argued that “repeal equals death. People will die in the United States if Obamacare is repealed.” Columnist Jonathan Chait wrote recently that those who may die are victims of ideology — “collateral damage” incurred in conservatives’ pursuit “of a larger goal.” If these are the stakes, many liberals argue, then ending Obamacare is immoral.

Except, it’s not.

Rachel Maddow broke the news tonight that Bryan Fischer, the spokesperson and Director of Issue Analysis for the American Family Association (and constant source of fodder for blogs like this one), has been fired.
It is because of his toxic anti-gay comments over the years?
Not exactly.

RNC is officially partnered with an organization that is on record even AFTER they fired Fischer saying:

David Lane, the Christian activist who runs the American Renewal Project, also added that “America was founded by Christians for the glory of God and the Christian faith,” which probably didn’t sit well with the Israeli people

So while they go to Israel their message is NO Jews allowed in USA...or anybody else that isnt a rightwing Christian.

San Francisco Public Defender detained by police...

A San Francisco deputy public defender was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon at the Hall of Justice after she asked why city police officers were questioning her client outside a courtroom, the public defender’s office said Wednesday.

The following is a comment from my friend who is a lawyer in San Francisco...which really adds some light to this.

Fact is: Public Defender Jeff Adachi has been nailing police on many different fronts.. and because of actions taken by Public Defender Office... six cops were arrested..and so far 3 have been convicted & are headed to prison. Also, that office has been heavily, heavily involved in The Black Lives Matter... and even lawyers had protests on City Hall Steps...and lots of Public Defenders are wearing Black Lives Matter T-Shirts every day...

So, even in San Francisco, we can count on cops being assholes and making up the law as they go along.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) said Sunday he would support an amendment to the Constitution that would enable state legislatures to outlaw same-sex marriage if the U.S. Supreme Court were to overturn various state bans.

So that is at least two of the clowns in the clown car who have made it official that they deeply HATE all LGBT people.

And make no mistake, this is about hate, nothing else.

So, Michael Brown. Guilty of something, right? I mean the shooting was valid, right?

I mean the cop says that the kid made a motion that was dangerous so he put two in his head and killed him.

Are we all good with that?

I mean the cop said it, do any of us have ANY reason NOT to believe him?

I wont bring up Garner, we can do that separately.

I just want to get the "pulse" of the DEMOCRATIC community...I guess I wont say "liberal community" because if I have learned one thing here, very painfully, these are not always the same thing.
