Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele delivered some straight talk to those who have been listening to Donald Trump instead of medical experts, telling them that their refusal to take the coronavirus seriously could cost their life.

Days after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi started referring to COVID-19 as the “Trump virus,” she went straight after the president again, calling him the biggest failure in American history.

Pelosi said Trump’s incompetence is the reason why coronavirus cases are surging across the country and why millions of Americans are filing for unemployment insurance.

“Let me just say that this president has been the biggest failure practically in the history of our country,” Pelosi said.

According to the latest Politico/Morning Consult poll, the majority of Americans believe authorities should jail or fine people who don’t wear face masks to ward off the novel coronavirus.

The poll found that 53 percent of survey participants said they would “strongly support” mandatory mask orders that include jail time or fines for people who don’t comply. 19 percent said they’d “somewhat” support a proposal. 21 percent either opposed or somewhat opposed a mandate.

Most Republicans support the idea too, with 59 percent saying they’d support a mandate. 35 percent of Republicans said they would oppose a mandate.

According to the Rasmussen Reports/Pulse Opinion Research poll, Biden is leading Trump by four points among likely voters in the Buckeye State, 47 percent to 43 percent.

In bordering Pennsylvania, the results were similar, with Biden leading Trump 48 percent to 45 percent.

Rachel Maddow praised former Vice President Joe Biden’s tough stand against Russia on Monday, saying it’s a sign that if the former VP wins in November, the United States will again have a president who holds foreign adversaries accountable.

“Dream of competent, uncompromised governance that stands up for our sovereignty against foreign countries that are trying to eat our democracy,” Maddow said. “Dream big!”

The MSNBC host also pointed out that Biden’s line in the sand against Vladimir Putin will put Republicans in a corner.

In a wide-ranging discussion with MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Monday, former Vice President Joe Biden blasted Donald Trump for failing his country on everything from the coronavirus to Russian election interference.

On the pandemic, Biden said Trump has “no sense of empathy or concern for people,” even as hundreds of thousands of Americans are ill and dying from a virus he let spread unchecked in the early months of this crisis.

“Have you heard a word of him talking about how badly he feels about the losses, about the emptiness?” Biden said.

WALLACE: But you’ve been in office three and a half years, you don’t have a plan.

TRUMP: Well, we haven’t had. Excuse me. You heard me yesterday. We’re signing a health care plan within two weeks, a full and complete health care plan that the Supreme Court decision on DACA gave me the right to do. So we’re going to solve — we’re going to sign an immigration plan, a health care plan, and various other plans. And nobody will have done what I’m doing in the next four weeks.

The US Supreme Court granted the Manhattan district attorney’s request to immediately issue its judgment in the case over President Donald Trump’s tax returns, paving the way for new challenges to a grand jury subpoena to be handled by a lower court judge.

The district attorney asked for that time to be cut short, and Trump’s attorney agreed. Friday, Chief Justice John Roberts said the request is granted.

It usually takes 25 days for a judgment to formally issued by the Supreme Court. The speed-up means that the case is still on an accelerated timeline. Trump only has a month to add new challenges to the subpoena from the Manhattan DA.
