Though former secretary of state and presumed 2016 candidate Hillary Clinton is known for her vocal support of women's equality, during her time in the Senate she perhaps wasn't so consistent on this issue. Analysis done by the Washington Free Beacon of the salaries Clinton paid her female and male Senate staffers revealed that male staffers were paid, on average, about $15,000 more than females.



The difference works out to about 72 cents paid to women for each dollar paid to male staff, which is even more marked a disparity than the widely cited figure of 77 cents on the dollar.

The rally was interrupted by around two dozen protesters, one of whom accused the candidate for being responsible for the death of Berta Cáceres, a Honduran activist who was murdered in March. She is widely believed to have been killed by Honduran government forces, whose 2009 coup was supported by Clinton during her tenure as secretary of state.

About two dozen protesters disrupted a campaign speech by ex-President Bill Clinton in Queens on Sunday afternoon, unfurling a banner and chanting accusations against his wife over the death of an environmental activist in Honduras.

The hecklers hid themselves in the first two rows at the New York Hall of Science and leaped to their feet about 90 seconds after Bill began stumping in support of the Democratic front-runner, who’s seeking her hubby’s former White House job.

“Hillary Clinton, you have Berta’s blood on your hands,” they shouted in Spanish in reference to Berta Caceres, who was found shot to death in her home in March.

MSNBC host and civil rights leader Al Sharpton criticized former president Bill Clinton‘s handling of Black Lives Matter protesters Thursday, saying that Clinton’s combative and argumentative tone was inappropriate.

“Bernie Sanders says Bill Clinton owes an apology…” MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki noted. “Do you agree with that?”

“I think that the way that President Clinton responded in terms of his kind of reprimand and lecturing was inappropriate,” Sharpton responded.

President Clinton should apologize. He just did to an entire generation what he did to Sister Souljah a generation ago. Bill Clinton’s policies may have worked for a short time in the 1990s, however the millennial generation has paid a steep price for them ever since.

Today, we have record numbers of teachers packing backpacks of food for children on Fridays, as opposed to parents packing backpacks full of books on Mondays. This is because in 1996 Bill Clinton led the charge for the policy shift that put a lifetime limit on welfare for any poor parent. The lifetime limit was 5 years. No one hit it until just after his administration ended.

By the start of the Great Recession millions of families had already hit their ceiling on welfare. As a result, we now have twice as many Americans living in extreme poverty as we did 20 years ago.

The Great Recession is the defining economic experience of millennials, just as the Great Depression was for their grandparents and great grandparents. They understand that President Cilnton’s decision to weaken Glass-Steagall made the Great Recession possible. It allowed banks to operate in ways that had been banned ever since FDR championed Glass-Steagall a half century earlier.

Furthermore, virtually every American between 18 and 24 is paying a price for mass incarceration.

This is because state after state has cut their higher education budget to pay for higher incarceration.
