Family rifts over Brexit: ‘I can barely look at my parents’

From speaking to young people up and down the country, many of whom are now embroiled in rifts with the closest members of their families, it becomes clear that their reactions to the result are not just matters of political principle, but come from a place of profound grief and betrayal. It sounds dramatic but, for many, the heartbreak is total, because of the futures so many feel they have lost. One person I speak to, from west Wales, has spent their entire adult life studying or working on an EU-funded programme across several European countries, and is furious that despite this their mother didn’t even bother to vote. Another, who speaks two EU languages, is working on a third, and dreams of living abroad, is furious. “Now, because of petty quibbles with EU practice, my parents have voted away my right to live and work in nearly 30 countries,” she says. “Everything I’ve studied for, for as long as I can remember, has been thrown away over false constructs of sovereignty and lies about immigration.

“I am presumably one of the citizens who leave voters thought they were winning the country back for. I don’t want their toxic, pathetic little country, it is not mine. If I had anywhere else to go I would burn my passport.”

Frustration:
“We’re graduates, starting our careers and beginning postgraduate studies. We’re newlyweds and nearlyweds, looking for our first homes and who will be starting families in the next 10 years. But when our mum voted, she chose to ignore that, driven by her hate for foreigners, rather than love for her own children. She’s sacrificed a lot in life to give us the best chances but now, with one little cross in a box, she’s undone all the good she did for us. I just don’t understand why she didn’t listen to her children before she voted.”

The other turn:
"Mum says we all make bad choices, she voted for Thatcher in ’79, and she forgives me"
Not all young people voted to remain, of course. Emily, 26, voted leave, while her mum, dad and grandad all voted remain. “My mum hung up the phone on me when she found out my younger sister and I had voted leave. Dad said he was devastated at the result, and my granddad, a second world war veteran, initially told me he was worried for a future he wouldn’t see.” Her younger sister, who is a student, also voted leave.

Wachowski Matrix director has announced she has transitioned

http://www.windycitymediagroup.com/lgbt/Second-Wachowski-filmmaker-sibling-comes-out-as-trans-/54509.html
Had to announce it in Windy City before one of those gossip mags ran the story
Awful the gossip rag came to her home

Wachoski's sister, Lana, first appeared publicly as a woman in July 2012. The siblings are best known for directing The Matrix trilogy.

In her statement, Lilly says she was nearly outed by the media several times over the past year. "In response to this threatened public outing against my will, I had a prepared a statement that was one part piss, one part vinegar and 12 parts gasoline," she writes.

Muslim Woman Says Lawmaker Asked Her: 'Is It Safe To Ride The Elevator With You?'

Abdelaziz, 24, who is the legislative and government affairs director at the Florida chapter of the Council for American-Islamic Relations, says she was already feeling defeated when she stepped into an elevator inside the Florida House of Representatives building.

She described what happened next in a post on Facebook.

"A Representative that should damn well know better walked into the elevator and jokingly hesitated while looking at me, 'Oh, is it safe to ride the elevator with you,'" Abdelaziz wrote. "Everyone laughed. Every single one of them laughed (Democrat, Republican, white, black, old, young) as I was belittled with a wildly inappropriate remark that because I'm a Muslim this Representative should be afraid to ride in an elevator with me. It's not funny. It hurts."

"I'm a really tough person," Abdelaziz told HuffPost. "I'm a tough girl, but I started crying. I felt like I had no power at all. I felt like I had no dignity."

"They all literally know me," she said of the legislators in the elevator. "They know why he made that remark. I'm not a stranger. They know who I am. I was literally just in a meeting with them."

Bank freezes account with donations to Fox Lake cop's family

http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/lake-county-news-sun/news/ct-lns-fox-lake-donation-fund-frozen-st-1112-20151111-story.html

bank account set up to collect funds for the family of Fox Lake police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz has been frozen while police investigate the officer's death, now believed to be a suicide, and years of criminal activity he allegedly feared would come to light.
The fund was set up before the Lake County Major Crime Task Force ruled Gliniewicz's Sept. 1 death a suicide and announced that he allegedly stole thousands of dollars from the Explorer youth police training program he ran, during a time when the officer was widely lauded as a community hero. BMO Harris Bank spokesman Patrick O'Herlihy confirmed Wednesday that the funds were being held "pending the results of the police investigation."

It's not clear how much money is being held or who will determine what happens to it, as O'Herlihy said he could not answer questions about the account during the investigation.

People who want their donations back should contact the charity groups that collected their money to inquire about refunds, Covelli said. The village of Fox Lake did not sponsor any fundraising events or set up any accounts for donated funds, he said.
Joe Ahern, CEO of the 100 Club, said last week he handed Gliniewicz's widow a check for $15,000 at a vigil shortly after his death. Normally, that would have been followed by another $35,000, along with financial assistance for the officers' children's educational expenses, he said.
But after learning Gliniewicz's death had been ruled a suicide, the organization asked for the donation to be returned, Ahern had said. The check was cashed, he said, and he's now working with an attorney representing the family

Fox lake cop was a criminal, and was willing to put 2 white men and 1 black man in jail for life

just so his family could get extra pension money on his death which is now deemed a suicide due to his criminal investigation. Cops harassed coroner at his home in front of the coroners family, when it was first brought up that it looked like suicide.
Ok kill your self but why bring 3 innocent people and a racial slant into the mess. People on lock down all day and $$$$ spent on man hunt . Then the cops were on a crazy manhunt for cop killers, that didn't exist but they tried to find and we know how that goes down.

Cop before killing himself called in he was in pursuit of 2 white men and 1 black men for suspicious activity. Then he was found dead in the woods. Thankfully everyone arrested had alibis!!

Criminal acts to the end . His list of crimes and stealing are part of an investigation of the whole force

Trump's new book Crippled America – live read

Adam Gabbatt is reading the Republican presidential candidate’s new book so you don’t have to
LIVE Updated 2h ago

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2015/nov/03/donald-trump-new-book-crippled-america-live-read
On to Chapter 15: “Teaching the media dollars and sense”.

I don’t know what that means either. Although it sounds like it could be the title of a Trump University course. (Remember that?)

Trump lists some media organisations that were unfriendly to him when he launched his presidential campaign. Earlier in the book he had said sticks and stones might break his bones but names will never hurt him. That’s been put to one side.

The media is “sad” and “often pathetic”. Has he been speaking to my dad?

Trump has built a lot of buildings. He lists many of them. Gotta bump up that word count!

Only two chapters left.

Anonymous Denies List of KKK Members after politicians respond

http://www.newsweek.com/politicians-respond-names-alleged-kkk-list-389874
Updated | Online hacking group Anonymous has denied responsibility for the recent publication of a list that claims some U.S. politicians belong to the Ku Klux Klan.

Last week, Anonymous said it would soon release the identities of about 1,000 members of the white supremacist organization. Anonymous is expected to release the details on Thursday, the day of the global protest movement known as the Million Mask March, in which demonstrators around the world will march in a protest against corrupt governments and corporations.

Anonymous denies it has any connection to the list of names, which was published Saturday on the website Pastebin. Most of the politicians included on the list—four Republican senators, four Democratic mayors and a Republican mayor—have denied the claims.

Surreal ! Killer's mom not only bonded over guns , but read Donald Trump to him as a child

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/06/us/mother-of-oregon-gunman-wrote-of-keeping-firearms.html?_r=0

In an online forum, answering a question about state gun laws several years ago, Ms. Harper took a jab at “lame states” that impose limits on keeping loaded firearms in the home, and noted that she had AR-15 and AK-47 semiautomatic rifles, along with a Glock handgun.
She also indicated that her son, who lived with her, was well versed in guns, citing him as her source of information on gun laws, saying he “has much knowledge in this field.”

“I keep two full mags in my Glock case. And the ARs & AKs all have loaded mags,” Ms. Harper wrote. “No one will be ‘dropping’ by my house uninvited without acknowledgement.”

One piece of advice Ms. Harper dispensed online for a parent with an autistic infant was to start reading to the child as soon as possible and to use expressive gestures. An online posting from six years ago included the unlikely revelation that she used to read to her son a book by Donald J. Trump, the real estate mogul now running for president, who recently suggested that childhood vaccines cause autism — a claim Ms. Harper dismisses in her postings.

“Fact: Before my son was even born, I was reading out loud to him from Donald Trump’s ‘The Art of the Deal,’” she wrote. “And as for the ‘gesture effect,’ I was practically a mime. And now my son invests in the stock market along with me, turns a profit and is working on a degree in finance. His language and reading skills are phenomenal.

Well...he was able to put together a manifesto so....
Reading to a kid a Donald Trump book?
It also talks about his autism issues and hospitalized when off his medications
