Warren Zevon, is a singer songwriter...

I know, he's so much more than just that - But it feels like the singer songwriter part gets overlooked

Otis Spann Backed by the original Fleetwood Mac in London 1967. These jams would become -

the album "The Complete Blue Horizon Sessions" released in 1968.

Oddly enough the solos on this track were played by Danny Kirwan, not Peter Greene. Pete was doing the wah-wah pedal powered highlights and fills in the background.

When it's Friday night and you're too suave for the John Lee Hooker order

Of 1 Bourbon, 1 Scotch, and 1 Beer

But ya still wanna get blown up - Quick in a hurry

Just switch up the rhythm, change the order, and be smooth

I say this with a full understanding that everyone who cares already disagrees with me

But of all the classic covers of all the songs that Townes Van Zant wrote this is the best one by far. By far.

"Hold your tongues until after I've spoken"

I can't think of a cover that fleshed out the bones of TVZ melody as naturally as this song.

I love the way they turned it into a classic bare bones rock song...

Ladies and Gents, please welcome the Minus 5, doing "Rake"
