Hillary News & Views 3.21: Idaho Endorsement, and Why Raising $$ for Downballot Dems Matters

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/3/21/1504312/-Hillary-News-Views-3-21-Idaho-Endorsement-and-Why-Raising-for-Downballot-Dems-Matters

The Idaho Statesman endorses:

What the 2016 Democratic presidential race might lack in variety has been more than compensated by the spirited and substantive debates on issues that resonate with Americans.

We have enjoyed the mostly civil, issue-based back and forth between the two survivors — former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. — and we believe this process has made both of them better candidates.

But the discussions and stump speeches have yielded a clear and undeniable fact: Clinton has the better overall experience, grasp on the broad range of issues and the natural attributes to assume the presidency on Day 1 of her administration.

Whereas Sanders’ passion and populist appeal have been effective in certain states under certain circumstances — and this has manifested in upset primary wins in states such as Michigan — we think there is a steep learning curve for Sanders on a number of issues outside of income equality and prosecuting Wall Street.

Clinton gets the nod for the Idaho Democratic caucuses Tuesday because of a lifetime of activism on behalf of Americans, her service as a U.S. senator in New York and her tenure as secretary of state in the Obama administration. Her government service — working on behalf of 9/11 responders as a senator and being a tough negotiator during foreign policy missions in the Middle East — show her capabilities, grit and determination to get things done.

Clinton certainly has paid her dues and has earned the opportunity to lead her party to the November election.

Bill Maher: When it Comes to Trump, Start Blaming the Self-Esteem Movement

http://www.mediaite.com/online/bill-maher-when-it-comes-to-trump-start-blaming-the-self-esteem-movement/

by Lindsey Ellefson

Tonight on Real Time, Bill Maher took aim at Donald Trump‘s favorite thing about himself: his humility (or lack thereof.)

Criticizing America for being the type of country where a football player can run the wrong way, score five goals for the opposing team, and still be “a winner,” Maher cautioned against telling kids (and adults!) that they are amazing all the time. To hammer home why that’s such a bad idea, he played a montage of Trump announcing all the things he is the best at, including building walls and loving the Bible.

The New Rule for this evening, then, went like this:

Stop trying to pin the rise of Donald Trump on easy targets like racism, xenophobia, and fetal alcohol syndrome and put the blame where it belongs: on the self-esteem movement.

Another great line was, “If there’s anything scarier than Donald Trump thinking he’s the most important person in the world is that in eight months, he could be.”

What do you think?

50% Of The Vote In Arizona Already Banked... And It Favors Hillary!

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/3/18/1503342/-50-Of-The-Vote-In-Arizona-Already-Banked-And-It-Favors-Hillary

Hello Friends!

Yesterday I wrote a diary looking at the limited polling that is available in Arizona that shows Clinton with a formidable lead. There is new information out today that brings new data to our analysis as to where Arizona is likely to end up for Hillary. And it looks very promising…

Check Out This Link:

www.politico.com/...

This is the passage that stands out to me:

“Early voting, which in Arizona starts about two weeks before the primary election, may hold some clues as to the eventual outcome. The numbers have offered some positive signs for Clinton: According to figures provided by the Arizona Democratic Party, of the 601,049 early ballot requests, 262,547 were returned, with 121,374 from voters 65 and over and another 75,504 from voters between the ages 50-64. Both age groups have been friendly to Clinton in other states.

By contrast, just 18,842 ballots have been returned from voters between the ages of 25 to 34 and 8,959 from voters between 18 and 24 – ominous signs for Sanders, who runs best among younger voters.”

In the 2008 primary 455,000 Democrats voted in Arizona. That means it is likely 50% of the vote has already been banked in Arizona. And of that 50% that has been returned 75% of those votes are ages 50 and above… a demographic that is EXTREMELY favorable to Hillary.

I also believe the Tuesday sweep will help last minute deciders break to Hillary’s favor.. or the margins to at least remain close.

Keeping all of this in kind… I think we could be looking at a 20+ point win for Hillary.

I’m looking forward to see how this plays out!

Internet Freaks Out As Woman ‘Vanishes’ During Live TV Report

But did she really?

One second she’s there, the next she’s gone.

A woman appeared to vanish during a live news report on Danish TV. But did she really?

Video going viral shows the blonde woman standing in the background of the shot as a man is being interviewed at an airport’s baggage claim for TV2’s Sports Center show.

Another woman walks past her, pushing a trolley, and then she seemingly disappears.

Hillary News & Views 3.18: Arizona, Trump, bell hooks, Supreme Court, EPAC, Disliking Hillary

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/3/18/1503199/-Hillary-News-Views-3-18-Arizona-Trump-bell-hooks-Supreme-Court-EPAC-Disliking-Hillary

oday’s Hillary News & Views begins with a look at the upcoming primary in Arizona.

Politico reports:

The pattern in Democratic primaries and caucuses so far is that Sanders has had the advantage among younger voters and less diverse electorates while Clinton has had the upper hand in more diverse electorates and among older voters. Arizona is closer to the latter.

"She's doing very well with whites over 50, which is most whites. Half of the [early] white vote that’s in is over 65," Quinlan said, pointing to that as a positive sign for Clinton. "Frankly I just think Hillary's organization is stronger and the fact is I just think she has a built-in Demographic advantage."

Sanders isn’t just fighting demographics in Arizona – he’s also fighting against a candidate who is very well known in the state.

"The Clintons have been very popular in Arizona. President Bill Clinton has visited on multiple occasions to campaign on behalf of Democrats over the last two, four cycles," said Arizona Democratic Party chairwoman Alexis Tameron. "So there's a familial essence to that. And I also do think it's a belief amongst political types that Latinos are drawn to the Clintons like Latinos are drawn to the Kennedys type of reference in which you can see that places like Texas where she performs pretty well in polling and has performed pretty well in presidential contests."

Emerson New York Poll: Clinton +48

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/3/17/1503092/-Emerson-New-York-Poll-Clinton-48

By TheKF1

media.wix.com/…

A New Emerson New York poll shows Clinton crushing Sanders 71-23, winning every single demographic group except 18-34 year olds, which she loses only by 13%. She is ahead by Southern-like margins among African Americans (72-22) as well as claiming 73% of women and 66% of men. Her smallest lead in any over-34 age group is 35-54 year olds, whom she takes by 45%.

Obviously New York is the state Hillary represented in the Senate and or which she was elected twice, but it’s worth noting that the Sanders campaign have been playing up their ability to pull off a surprise there recently, e.g. calling it a ‘showdown’ in a conference call after Tuesday, on which

“both Devine and Weaver stressed that upcoming contests in Western states — Arizona, Washington, California, Idaho — and also in New York, would be far friendlier to Sanders than to Clinton.”

Fellow Clinton supporters, our time has come. Let us rise and go do terrible evil unto the world.

Here is just a sample of quotes from stories on the rec list in the past 48 hours about Hillary and her supporters!

(Hillary and those like her are) a sad and empty souls for whom I feel nothing but pity. Such people never had the courage to stand strong for anything — or only in a half-hearted way, many years ago in their youth, now long forgotten.

(Hillary Supporters) who support the corporate-sponsored established oligarchy are the gate keepers for the one percent and their rarefied overlords who comprise the .01%.

Hillary Supporters have cognitive dissonance which annoys them to the point where they resort to logical fallacies to mask the internal conflict and thereby ease their minds

(Clinton) always had an easy, breezy relationship with wrongdoing. But the Democratic Party overlooked the ethical red flags and made a pact with Mr. Clinton that was the equivalent of a pact with the devil. And he delivered.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but my sad and empty soul is ready to rise from my solid gold 1% crypt and join the rest of the oligarchy in destroying America! Only by doing unspeakable evils will my mind be eased, and my pact with the devil made whole. As was prophesied, by defeating the savior of humanity and one true Democrat, we bring about a new era of terror. I eagerly await our orders from Madam President.
