Hillary Clinton is making an appearance on this weeks episode of Broad City, and judging by the casts reactions, they are really, reeeaaally excited.
Clinton announced that she would appear on the show in December, but the precise date of her cameo was unknown until Comedy Central posted a preview of their upcoming episode. The episode will focus on Ilana Glazers character, according to The Verge, but it will end up with her and Abbi Jacobson giving themselves a tour of Clintons campaign headquarters in Brooklyn.
The two spend a bit of time looking around and taking in the scene, but when Clinton herself walks up, lets just say that completely flipping out might be an understatement for their enthusiasm.

The mother of Michael Brown, the 18-year-old whose 2014 shooting by police in Ferguson, Mo., ignited protests that lasted for weeks, is backing Democrat Hillary Clinton.
"When I lost my son, I lost my world. 'Big Mike' was a big boy, but he was my baby boy; my only child, and his life was brutally taken from me," Lezley McSpadden wrote in her endorsement statement.
McSpadden praised Clinton's "realistic proposals" on health care, housing, education and other issues, and she said Clinton is "the candidate most likely to achieve the task of working across party lines to get needed legislation passed."
McSpadden also appeared to make references to the Republicans running against Clinton and to President Obama, whose legacy Clinton regularly tells African American audiences she will protect.
This election season, we are at battle for the soul of our nation," McSpadden said. "If we want to continue to build on the progress made by our country, we need a president who is ready to lead and I trust Hillary Clinton."

Sometimes a picture says more about a campaign than a 1000 speeches. Where was Bernie when Hillary was leading the fight for healthcare? Standing behind her, literally.
Watch the clip and decide who led the fight and who followed.
Hillary has been fighting for progressive causes for decades. FiveThirtyEight does some much-needed myth-busting:
Theres a reason conservatives have attacked her relentlessly: they know shell advance the progressive cause more effectively than just about anyone in America.

Hillary has been fighting for progressive causes for decades. FiveThirtyEight does some much-needed myth-busting:
Clinton was one of the most liberal members during her time in the Senate. According to an analysis of roll call votes by Voteview, Clintons record was more liberal than 70 percent of Democrats in her final term in the Senate. She was more liberal than 85 percent of all members. Clinton also has a history of very liberal public statements. Clinton rates as a hard core liberal per the OnTheIssues.org scale. She is as liberal as Elizabeth Warren and barely more moderate than Bernie Sanders.
Theres a reason conservatives have attacked her relentlessly: they know shell advance the progressive cause more effectively than just about anyone in America.

Clintons leads in these four states are once again powered by her large advantage among African American voters.
It appears Sanders is making a big play for Illinois, Missouri and to a lesser extent Ohio. I think Clinton has Florida and North Carolina locked up. I think she can win Ohio as well.

In the Democratic race, Clinton is ahead of Sanders among likely primary voters by 27 points in Florida, 61 percent to 34 percent; by 20 points in Ohio, 58 percent to 38 percent; but by just six points in Illinois, 51 percent to 45 percent.
The size of Clinton's lead in all three states directly correlates to her advantage with African-American Democratic voters - 57 points in Florida (77 percent to 20 percent), 48 points in Ohio (72 percent to 24 percent) and 39 points in Illinois (67 percent to 28 percent).

One of my old homes away from home with a "dirty" deck.
(Full disclosure: I am a Sanders supporter who voted for him in the Texas primary and a transwoman. This diary does not advocate for either candidate, it is just a response to some ignorance on display here)
In the past few weeks, I have seen no end of diaries and comments telling me that the Clintons, Hillary and Bill are homophobes because of the Dont Ask, Dont Tell policy that was adopted by the services when the Department of Defense Directive 1304.26 that was issued on December 21, 1993 took effect on February 28, 1994. This policy RELAXED the rules about serving while gay or lesbian.
As abominable as that policy was, it was forced upon President Clinton, who actually campaigned on the promise to allow open service regardless of orientation, by the Republicans and by certain conservadems in Congress. Even Barney Frank ultimately, (though reluctantly) voted for the language that included the ban on open service by gays and lesbians, (we trans folks were excluded). But for some context, let me give you an example of what came before DADT:
Before DADT, the services pretty much left punishment for being openly LGB or T up to the unit commanders so the consequences of admitting to being LGBT ranged from none to sanctions like losing rank, pay, privileges, earned benefits and in some cases, even brig, (jail) time. It largely depended on whether your C.O. was a raging homophobe or not.
I was outed by my room mate who was attempting to distract from his own second DUI in two years and my world changed. I went from being a 4.0 sailor to a pariah instantly but not immediately. You see, my C.O. at the time knew me and knew my work and most pilots like to make it back to the ground and he knew that my work and I helped them do that. I was told that nothing was going to happen over that. Things seemed to have worked out.

The policy prohibited military personnel from discriminating against or harassing closeted homosexual or bisexual service members or applicants, while barring openly gay, lesbian, or bisexual persons from military service

Its been a surprising journey for me to end up with Clinton. I was all in for Obama the last time around. Its been an interesting eight years. I have lived aboard and then moved back. I had two children. I grew up.
When this cycle started I was much undecided. I didnt love Clinton and I didnt love Sanders. I have read both sides. Looked at the candidates views and I ultimately decided that my vote will be for Clinton.
1. I like the fact she has been running for President for forever.
I have a career. I have worked very hard on my career. I have put time and effort in the positions I have taken and the path that I have set for myself. I agree that the first time around she got surprised by Obama. But then she picked herself up and went and worked with President Obama. That to me says a lot about her character. She has experience as a lawyer, First Lady, a Senator and a Secretary of State. That is a pretty damn impressive resume. I like that she has ambition. Do you think that Cruz, Rubio and frankly every other candidate (outside of Sanders) hasnt been running for President their entire lives? Why is ambition in women bad?
2. She is a woman.
Yes, Im voting with vagina. Its not the only reason Im voting for Hillary Clinton but its an important one for me. I have a daughter. Its important for me that she grows up in a society where our leaders are something other than white men. Obama was a role model for POCs children. He brought different issues and views to the White House. I believe that Clinton will do the same for womens issues. Im a working mom. Clinton was a working mom. She was the one who coined It takes a Village Back when she wrote her book, this line was highly controversial. I often think of that phrase when dealing with childcare choices and doctors appointments and equality of parenting within my marriage. I think true equality is an issue that most mothers deal with regardless of if you working inside the home or outside. When she highlighted the disparity in Social Security for caretakers, I realized that she really got what women face. Its more than universal childcare, its more than a higher minimum wage. Its a fundamental way of gender roles within American society.

In which Bill Maher asks the Bernie and Hillary camps to aim their outrage elsewhere
In the New Rules segment that ended his weekly Real Time with Bill Maher HBO show on March 11, Maher finished the run of visual/verbal jokes with a bit entitled Capes of Wrath. The image on the screen to Mahers left featured the two title characters in Batman vs. Superman: The Dawn of Justice, a Warner Brothers/DC Comics movie due in theaters beginning on March 24:
Batman and Superman have to explain something to me: why are you two fighting? Youre supposed to work together. I saw it on my footie pajamas. Its unsettling to see two beloved mythical figures go at it: Its like watching Jesus beating up a unicorn.
And I think the same thing when I see the Democrats these days (image appears of Bernie and Hillary on a debate stage): You two also need to work together so you can stop the greatest super villain of all time: (image of Donald Trump as Incredible Hulk appears on screen) Orange Crush.
As fans of Mahers show know, the funny mans bits can bite. This one did, near my neck of the woods. (Full disclosure: I am supporting Bernie Sanders with monthly contributions and my vote in Californias June primary and in Novembers general election, if Bernie becomes the Democratic Party presidential nominee. Although I believe that Hillary Clinton is as bought and paid for by Americas ruling elites as every Republican Party presidential candidate who has walked the face of the earth since who knows whenand as President Barack Obama is, for whom I voted twice for presidentI know that Hillary Clinton is not the devil. That is why I have not dived into the pool of Bernie vs. Hillary antagonism in which so much of left/liberal communication wallows these days.)
